405 and 101 Freeway Interchange

Horrible Traffic any day at any time. 10 miles takes me 2 hours.

It gets you there… if it isn’t clogged with traffic.
This intersection is the busiest in the United States, I am told. With tthat in mind, guess it is lucky that traffic ever moves faster than 10mph thru it!

There is nothing good about this interchange, except when I’m not on it. Unless you’re driving in the middle of the night, you can expect horrendous traffic, or crazy drivers that wreck and cause the horrendous traffic, if you’re not already slowed down by all the lane bottlenecks. All of the exits are really close to the interchange, so once you’ve merged, you have to jump across all lanes of traffic to exit the freeway in less than a quarter mile. No wonder there are so many accidents. Way to go City Planners! You can always take the side streets to avoid the interchange, but quite honestly, those streets are just as packed.

Probably one of the worst interchanges in SoCal! Especially going north bound on 101 to 405 South. Lane goes down to one lane. What a nightmare. Alternate option is staying on the 101 and getting off at Haskell, make a right and left on Ventura Blvd, where from there you can either make a right on Sepulveda and take that as an alternate (you’ll be able to get back on 101 a little ways up through the canyon… or continue on Ventura following the signs to the right under the overpass and getting back on the 405 south. OR take 405 North getting off at Burbank Blvd make a left and get right back on the 405 South. Your other option is just too wait it out in the one lane, while rude people cut in front of you over and over again till you get Aaron’s the large one lane loop ans merge onto the 405 south.
Millions and millions of dollars to widen the 405 fwy aka Carmagedon, only to NOT do anything about the outdated interchanges!
There is always slowing in any direction here and at pretty much any interchange in L.A.
Avoid both freeways during rush hour if possible. Which now is really just about anytime if day, but let’s emphasis on the 7am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm. 7 days a week. It’s always bad. And there will always bee some moron who isn’t paying attention and can’t drive in a straight line that will cause a crash, inevitably flicking your commute time.
PEOPLE… STAY OFF OF YOUR PHONE’S! Turn your radio on, take deep breaths, enjoy a good talk radio or rock it out old school. Just give yourself a break. The phone can wait. We’ve managed for a hundred years without a damn phone in our car. Our lives and the ones driving around us are far more valuable and precious than a stupid text or call. THINK!!! And WAIT!

The 101 to the 405 interchange is my favorite part of my commute. It keeps me on my toes and that fear that death might be around the corner is just so exhilarating. All the locals know to get from the 101 North to the 405 North you have to be vicious. Cutting through three lanes when the middle lane going to the 405 South is in dead stop traffic and both surrounding lanes are going as fast as they can to pass that dreaded 405s section. And of course there are those drivers that decide they are going to cut in last minute into that traffic and clog everyone up. Ohh but don’t get stuck in that dreaded middle lane because you played it too nice and careful. You will be stuck FOREVER. And if you don’t want to play chicken and get into that right lane don’t worry. Your lane will also allow you to go north. But everyone in that south lane will be laughing at you.

Damn i hate this interchange! Traffic around this area is horrible. 6 lanes and slow to traffic jams. I think its due to all the dumba**es who dont know how to merge into traffic without causing jams

I will be very honest for some reason I love the 101 I don’t know why I just love it not because I’m going 0 mph or 18 mph or spending about an hour from the 405 to the 134 freeway for some reason this is my home I have been doing this for over 24 years yes driving, even though I am a business owner and I can work out of my home I love driving to work this is what keeps me going sometimes I see the same people and wave hello and they do as well it’s funny you’re not alone. So with that said even though this freeway sucks and you’re going slow I’m going to give it a five stars why because I drive this freeway and I’m on this freeway and I believe are more five stars. Now do you see what happens when you get a little bit delirious and you just talk just to talk this is what the 101 freeway this to you ha ha Ha.

If there ever was a tangible black hole that sucked the life out of human beings here on Earth, it’s the 101 freeway.
I’ve spent my whole life driving on this freeway, and about half of it has been wasted in traffic.
The lack of decent public transit in Los Angeles exacerbates the issue.
Either way, if you’ve ever had to send emails on your way to work, sitting in traffic is the best place to do it.
A good place to people watch though.
Also if you’re into road rage, there’s lots of people who have never learned how to properly merge into traffic so there’s that.
Most of the time I avoid this interchange because surface streets are faster and it seems they are doing construction here for perpetuity.
Also whoever thinks it’s a good idea to do construction during rush hour in the morning and late afternoon they are missing their brain.
