I think it was Uncle Fred’s in LakeAnne Market, Reston today. I had originally wanted some ribs but they only had a $ 17 beef ribs left so I wound up with brisket and side slaw. Wow! The smoky flavor in this meat was phenomenal. I got some bbq sauces on the side but didnt need to use any, because I didnt want to cover up the taste with anything else. Best brisket ever and very good slaw!

Ordered ribs, chicken, and Mac & cheese for an event, Fred’s ordering was simple and easy and food was very good, sauces were all great. Recommended catering services and found out they have Holiday specials(turkey, ham, etc.)

Robert grew up in a family of boys so pretty much every dinner at his house is one big meat fest(in more ways than one). A recent family potluck had the following on the menu: Bön Chon Chicken, Afghan Kabobs, and BBQ ribs from Uncle Fred’s BBQ Smoke Shack. I’m sure you can already tell that our dinner was phenomenal that night but I have to give extra props to this Uncle Fred for making our meal extra special. These were the BEST ribs I’ve ever had. The meat was perfect: smoky, fall-off-the-bone tender, with just the right amount of cartilage to make this Asian fat girl happy. I only have two regrets about these ribs: 1) I had to share 2) I had to eat this in public. If I was by myself I would have gone HOG wild on that rack with no abandon. Feet on the table, gut hanging out, gnawing on the bone. By myself, I have no shame! My brother in law said that he has been tracking down this pop up shop for weeks now and they pretty much almost always sell out of their offerings so come early!

Finally tracked down this place. They are only open NOW for two days a week, at two different so called Farmers Markets. They were located in 9050 Delvin Road in a school parking lot on that road just off Linton Hall road. I would have NEVER found the place except someone put out Farmer’s Market signs with the address. I pulled into the school parking lot and there they were. The pulled pork was GREAT. The beef brisket was fatty and chewy and sure a far cry from the Texas kind which is better tasting and tender. I’d get the pulled pork again, the beef brisket, no thanks. I got the«regular» BBQ sauce and it had a good taste to it. A man and woman running the place, essentially all portable. They said when the weather gets better then will probably be open more days.

Uncle Freds BBQ is Awesome !! He catered our Cub Scout Packs Blue and Gold this year and did a phenomenal job. The portions were large and the food was great. We had a King Arthur and the Knights of the round table theme and he even did Turkey legs for us. The cost was excellent and great service having the food prepared right on site !! Highly recommend !! Will definitely use him again and all of our families are asking for him to come back next year !!

Last thursday I finally got a chance to try Uncle Fred’s. I’ve been to this farmers market many times but never found it convenient to grab a bite to eat. On this occation I was hungry and the smell of smokey meat pushed me over the edge. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top. I dosed it in thier regular sauce and bolted home to enjoy my catch. The sqaure to-go container was brimming with sandwich and the pork was an overly generous ammount. I ended up splitting it with my wife, we both enjoyed it thoroughly. I’ll have to get their early one day to try their ribs, they were out by the time I got there. I got a quick chance to talk to Unlce Fred himself, he’s a nice guy who didnt mind my interest in the recent shuffling of farmers markets in Gainesville.

Not a fan. The pulled pork had a charred taste. I was hoping to mask it with the available sauces but the sauces were horrible. The«Carolina» sauce tasted more like mustard, not vinegar. The Italian sausage sandwich and potato salad were decent but nothing to write home about. I’m close to giving up on finding good BBQ in the area.

GREATBBQ!!! Sweet, smoky, delicious! Extremely tender, well seasoned, and yummy sauce options! Even the sides live up to the 5 stars. Try them out when they are in town for the farmer’s market, or check them out year round in Winchester area. Very friendly, nice people, very helpful and always service with a smile.

I made it my quest to try out as many BBQ places I could find while on vacation this summer. Nothing really compares to Fred’s. It is the best BBQ in Northern Va and probably the east coast. I go for the pulled pork. There are a couple of places I found in NC that almost lived up to Fred’s, but still Fred’s is the best.

Uncle Fred’s BBQ Smoke Shack is a BBQ catering business that is also now going to be at the Smart Markets — Weekly Farmers’ Market — located in the Virginia Gateway Shopping Center — every Sunday in Gainesville, VA! I stopped in to check out the Farmer’s Market today — and was drawn in to the smell of BBQ like a moth to a flame! They have this massive BBQ trailer that has the name«Bubba Grills» atop the smoker. The name sounds good! I Googled Bubba Grills — you can learn more about them here: Back to the BBQ. I wanted a slab of ribs for later this evening for the Super Bowl, but I came to late in the day. The lady in front of me snagged the last of the Babybacks. So I opted for a pulled pork sandwich for lunch and some pulled chicken for later to use in making dinner. They also offer half and whole chickens, hot dogs, burgers, fried catfish, Italian sausage, brisket, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and more! The menu can be seen here: The pulled pork sandwich was pretty big and filling. Had them add a bit of cole slaw to the sandwich. I applied a couple of their sauces. I wanted something really hot and spicy sauce-wise. They really don’t have anything to offer that is real spicy. In any case, a tasty, filling pulled pork sandwich! Chicken also tasted very good! Guys running the joint were friendly and efficient! They accept at the very least — cash, MasterCard, and Visa. You can e-mail them at: I will be back for some ribs and catfish next!
