As a new homeowner, one of the hardest things to do is to find proficient and reliable contractors for the many projects that come up. We had a drainage and paver walkway project, and we obtained proposals from a few different contractors in the area. Bill Funk from Springfield Lawn Services gave us the most thorough solution to our problem. He was very professional, and in our discussions he proposed solutions as though he was doing the work for his own home. We decided to hire SLS because Bill took the time to explain the best approach to the problem, and options for our walkway which we hadn’t considered. SLS gave us a projected start time for the project, and it was spot on! The crew was lively and professional, and Bill kept us appraised on progress throughout the work. When it was all done, the completed work was amazing! Our water drainage problems are GONE! Our walkway looks even better than we ever envisioned it! We are very fortunate to have found SLS and Bill Funk, and we will definitely be calling again for our backyard patio project!

The way to judge the review is not when things go well, but when they go wrong. With us it went poorly. I used this company to put in drainage and do other work in my yard. It was a big project. While talking out the work I had thought we had a clear understanding of how it was to be done, but afterwards the land was still very very swampy and afterwards an aspect I had thought was crucial had not been done. I was upset, waited the winter to see if it was just weather related, and next summer when it was no better put a bad review on this site in a fit of immaturity. I was getting ready to contact Bill, the owner, but put the review first. Which was wrong. He saw it, was upset, called me, and we had a lively discussion. But what he then did was come back out to the house, behave in a very professional and calm way, and fixed the problem charging only cost. So no one is perfect but this man took care of the issue and was very very professional about it. I would recommend them very much because the owner stands by his word and behaved in an honorable way when we had a problem. Frankly, more honorable than I behaved.

One word — AWESOME! I recently hired SLS to build retaining walls in my front yard. The owner, Bill Funk responded immediately to my request and was extremely knowledgable about all aspects of landscaping. He took my vision and came up with a great design and the end result is even more beautiful than I ever imagined. His team of workers are true artists! They were professional, quick, and clearly have years and years of experience laying field stone. I will definitely be calling SLS for all of our future landscaping needs.
