A few years ago this was a top sushi spot in Longview. It has changed ownership and while they are trying some new Asian fusion ideas, they are neglecting the sushi. The spider roll was the best of the 4 sampled, being full flavored with a satisfying crunch. The Texas roll was acceptable, with all flavors melding together to form an enjoyable experience. The Philly was some what sub par, leaving you feeling like you had been mouth raped by a block of cream cheese. Last and most certainly least we come to the«spicy» tuna. I am not certain, but I do believe the spice was misplaced some where between the sushi bar and our table. It left me feeling disappointed, being my regular favorite at any sushi establishment. You know the feeling of disappointment when your favorite sports team chokes at the last minute? Amplify that by 12, that’s where the spicy tuna resides in my memory. The service was good, atmosphere was acceptable, but the food needs work.

Hubby and I returned after hearing that Kobees was under new management. We went in with an open mind and sadly we were highly disappointed with what we found. Not much had changed to the inside, i think they added a kimono to the hostess and painted the outside of the building and called it a day. First of all the sushi menu is awful, most sushi places have a well presented menu with photographs of what to expect. Their sushi menu we found after much searching, crookedly photocopied to the back of the sushi ordering sheet. Secondly, the important part… the sushi. We ordered a spicy tuna roll only to be disappointed with a lackluster extra mild tuna. The philly roll felt like we were eating a block of cream cheese. The rice was just about undercooked. The best part of our meal was the house salad and even that one wasn’t great… way too much soy in the ginger dressing to really enjoy it. Third, the presentation… what presentation??? It looked like a boring plate of rice rolls with a very small dollop of ginger and wasabi. We will definitely be sticking to Fujis.

The staff was friendly but I had a highly disappointing sushi meal here. I knew I made a mistake when my «chefs choice» sushi combo arrived. Usually by allowing the chef to chose, they often bring out the freshest fish and sometimes make a creative sushi plate. What arrived to me instead was a «sushi» platter that did not contain a single piece of raw fish. This cooked platter did not taste very good. I will not come back!

Kobee’s cannot be considered a sushi restaurant. After I saw the sushi chef microwave my seaweed and rice I said nope no more. Yes, they have the microwave sitting out in front in the bar. I am no chef but isn’t it rule of thumb in a restaurant to never use a microwave? Especially a sushi chef no less who goes to school to learn to cook sushi. This makes me question the chef’s background and qualifications and the owners lack of ownership. The sushi is undoubtedly the worst, my roll was soggy. Why is my sushi wet? I could squeeze my roll and water would be dripping down. YUCKYUCKYUCK. Like one previous Unilocaler said this place needs a vacuum. But in my opinion a vacuum will not help this place. It needs an overhaul. For pete’s sake, the front door is broken and doesn’t even have a lock on it. It smells like stale oil when you walk in. KLTV should run a restaurant report on this place, I would be curious to hear what they find behind the scenes.

We prefer Kobee’s over Shogun’s. Food’s been consistent so no real complaints. Husband loves their sashimi. Only thing is when they admit the spicy Korean soup is instant ramen for $ 12?

Today I went to eat sushi for lunch with a friend. We were greeted by a seemingly nice lady and the experience started from there… The girl sat us down in a booth, my friend and I, and got us our drinks. We picked what we wanted from the sushi menu and continued to wait. Once the sushi arrived, we were almost pleased. The presentation wasn’t great. Being that presentation plays a big role in the sushi business, clumped together rolls with grains of rice falling apart didn’t appeal to me. The spicy tuna, eel, and California we had were overall alright. The experience… about midway through our lunch, one of the waiters said something along the lines of, «go wait those — 15 year olds!». It was obvious our waiter thought it was funny, but made a poor attempt of covering up. I will NOT go out and spend good money to be mocked by the wait staff. This review gets a 2. The sushi is okay, overpriced if you ask me, and the waiters talk about you like you’re not even a customer. I’d suggest Osaka instead. They at least keep their mouths shut while paying customers try to enjoy their meal.

I had a sudden craving for wakame /seaweed salad so i Unilocaled for sushi and chose to go to Kobee and i made the right decision! Their seaweed salad is perhaps the best I’ve had and i have had many! I went alone and asked to sit on the bar hoping to make some convo with the bartender. I ordered virgin piña colada. Nyum nyum! I started my meal with seaweed salad. Then i ordered kamikaze roll. It’s deepfried shrimps with crabmeat on top. It was so-so i guess that’s why it’s not on their signature roll. But the service is good. The food came really fast. Loved it. Would come again definitely.

It’s funny to see a place named Kobee Steak house, but doesn’t actually carry Kobe beef. The dinner entrée’s were good, around $ 20 — 25 on average for your steak and chicken or shrimp. The show is quite nice and the meal is pretty flavorful. I’d recommend getting the shrimp, they’re big and tasty. I wouldn’t recommending getting any of the sushi rolls. From the ones that were ordered at our table, none look very appetizing and all looked small. Problem with a Japanese steak house is that once you’ve seen the show, I don’t know how many times you can go back before you get sick of it.

New in town, I called Kobe to find out if they offered Golden Egg Sauce on their Hibachi shrimp. The girl who answered the phone said yes so we went over that evening. The inside of the restaurant was interesting, but the«hostesses» were dressed like they just got out of school t-shirts, worn jeans), not professional. Bad omen. As one of them escorted us to the dining room she held the curtain up to pass though & then dropped it on me, left my husband outside the curtain. The room smelled of old cigarette smoke. The menus handed to us were wrinkled & soiled with food splatters. We asked the very polite & nicely uniformed server if they did serve golden egg sauce & he didn’t have a clue what we were talking about.(Is this only a Chicago thing?) We ordered a drink & decided not to stay as the tots in the other booth were getting rowdy. Went down the street to a(very clean) Chinese Buffet & had a great meal.

Ordered takeout sushi from Kobe for dinner. I ordered salmon sashimi(7 pieces), Kamakazi roll, Rainbow roll, and Fusion roll. The salmon sashimi was ok, it didn’t taste that fresh, but edible. The Kamakazi was recommended by the staff so I tried it, it was ok. The Rainbow roll was ok too. The Fusion roll was my favorite. The Kobe special sauce made it for me. The bill came to almost $ 50. I didn’t try the hibachi. Overall I would say this place is ok for sushi. Certainly not the best, but the not the worst I’ve had either.
