If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth without all the guilt these little vegan marshmallow sweets are a dream — they’re like little fluffy clouds of sweetness. I usually get their original, toasted coconut marshmallow, and s’mores pack(they come in peanut butter and jelly, original and toasted coconut). Price range is from $ 4-$ 7 bucks, depending on the item. If I’m in the area, I usually stop by this place to pick up a few and freeze them, but you can always find them at whole foods or a natural food shop. Pro tip: Build a little fire and s’mores these little suckers(I soak mine in baileys for the adults). They’re great crowd pleasers.

Love these! They were the first non-supermarket, non roundish marshmallows I’ve had in my life. I figured what I loved was that difference. Then I tried other marshmallows like this. No. Not the same. It is Sweet & Sara that makes them good, not that they are the non supermarket ones. Nothing I’ve ever had compared to these. My local co-op didnt have them for a little while and it drove me mad! I travel-led across town to get my fix! I’m neither vegan, nor vegetarian, so that’s not what keeps me with them. They are simply the best marshmallows I’ve ever had. By the way, sharing her life and love and family on Facebook brightens my day. I look forward to her posts as much as I look forward to her marshmallows.

For vegans and vegetarians, this is the place to obtain your marshmallow fix. I saw on their website that they only use non-animal products to make their gelatin. This was eye opening, so I set out to try said desserts without meat ingredients. It was mind-blowing. I love the toasted almond and the strawberry flavored marshmallows. I bought some into work to share with my clan. They went like hotcakes. Thanks Sweet and Sara! Warning: it is a factory, so it might be hard to navigate the first time you get there. They recommended me calling first to make an appointment even if it is just for one item!

my dad brings these to me as a special treat occasionally and every time he does it feels like Christmas morning, they are so deliciously sweet with the perfect harmony of cushion texture, these people should be at every street corner and they shoud represent what it means to be a true real marshmallow, jiffy puff is complete utter garbage compared to the fresh cut specialties at sweet & sara.

These marshmallows are the bomb, vegan or carnivore. It all started this morning when i bungled my online order, then rolled up expecting to pick up that same day. The staff here are so accomdating, even called me back up to let me know that i still could pick up the order. The marshmallows are soft and airy yet dense at the same time. The vanilla marshmallows are awesome and I see why everyone raves about them. But my favorite is the toasted coconut. Without a doubt the best out of the bunch. I waited until i got home and warmed up the smores a little, and those were really good. I think it’s a little sweet if you eat them straight out of the package, warmed up, it’s a melty indulgence. The amazing service warrants a five star rating, throw in the marshmallows and this place is a hidden gem.

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to write this review! I love Sweet and Sara. Amazing treats, terrific small, family business, personalized customer service. My favorites are regular vanilla marshmallows, plain s’mores, peanut butter s’mores, and maybe the white chocolate pistachio mallow. I haven’t visited the store yet myself, but hope to one day.

This company is truly a gem. Not only was the customer service great, but when I went to pick up my order, I got to meet Sara and her sister Susan in the flesh! I was a bit shell-shocked-it was like meeting a mini celebrity! They were both incredibly sweet people and actually shook my hand and asked what my name was, you really don’t get that anywhere else. They are the true definition of a caring family business. Also, best marshmallows ever, period. Vegan or not. Real vanilla taste. Fluffy deliciousness. Worth every penny. Who woulda thought marshmallows can be gourmet?

Amazing products. Amazing family run business. Amazing customer service. Animal and environment friendly. What is not to love?! I had been missing the goodness of smores for many years before discovering Sweet and Sara. I’ve ordered from other online retailers in the past but none have compared to what Sara and her darling family churn out. I’m not a huge fan of the pre-made smores but I do love buying the mallows to make my own. I especially love the flavored mallows. Strawberry is so good and made with real strawberries. In the fall she makes the best Pumpkin spice mallows with real pumpkin! I’ve picked up orders directly from the factory to save on shipping. My goodness! How adorable and sweet are Sara and her family! They deserve your business!

I love Sweet and Sara! The marshmallows and different smore combos are amazing. The other vegan marshmallow brands out there don’t come anywhere close to matching the flavor and texture(and I’ve pretty much tried them all!). And Sara is so good to her customers. My brother wanted to get some marshmallows shipped to me in time for Christmas last minute, and Sara made a special trip into her factory just to get them sent out in time. Best Christmas surprise — thank you, Sara!

These marshmallows are so delicious! My order came with stickers and a hand-written thank you note. Amazing treats and great customer service. :)
***I wanted to preface this with saying that the location is directly down the street from the 33rd St 7 Train stop. Literally on the first block, on the right hand side, after you cross the West bound side of Queens Boulevard. *** Sweet & Sara has long been one of my favorite vegan indulgences. I ordered a bunch of goodies online for my boyfriend for Halloween(hello, Halloween-themed bats and ghosts!) and went to pick them up. I set my appointment for Wednesday on Monday morning but had an opening in my schedule to pick them up earlier, which they happily arranged for. That was really sweet of them. Then I got there, and everyone was so nice! I’ve come to the factory before and met Sara and didn’t expect anything but sweetness. It’s a family affair here, folks. Makes me want to start a family business. They were so pleasant and funny. Added bonus: Everything there smells like marshmallows. As if it isn’t clear, I love the product, admire the people, and love it when I have time to pick them up at the factory instead of grabbing some from Duane Reade*. *Who else is super excited they can get these delicious bits of heaven at the city’s most common drug store? Between the number of Starbucks and Duane Reades per block, I can now pick up marshmallows for the hot cocoa I get down the street at Starbucks. :)

Sara is a very special person. No, I do not know here personally, but if you stop for 10 seconds and look at Sweet & Sara’s facebook page, you’ll know instantly. Sara is lifelong vegan who knows we don’t need to suffer in order to lead compassionate lives. Her vegan marshmallow treats are amazing. My favorite is the dark chocolate bark and the toasted coconut marshmallows. Even just the plain vanilla marshmallows alone are delicious. She makes special treats for the holidays too, which make for nice little surprises to send to friends and family far away. This might sound crazy, but I also really love that she sells the«irregular» pieces of candy on the website at discounted prices. So an oddly shaped marshmallow can be snatched up for half the price. The company is 100% cruelty free, vegan and a family business. Awesome. Thank you so much for finding the right marshmallow formula and making it truly guilt free!

Wow! I am a fan! I had been craving s’mores recently, but wanted vegan marshmallows. The first time I found them at WF, they only had the strawberry flavored ones. Well, this time WF had the vanilla ones and the cinnamon pecan ones. I only grabbed the vanilla, but have heard that the cinnamon ones are pretty good. They were difficult to separate from one another and I thought it felt a bit rubbery. The marshmallows burned quickly, but didn’t really melt. I then nuked it with the chocolate and graham crackers, and voila! I had ooey gooey s’mores. But the true taste test is to eat one on its own. The container said to refrigerate them, but to let them come to room temperature before eating. I let a couple of them sit on the plate and waited. It didn’t take long at all. They smelled like regular marshmallows and tasted like them too! I was really impressed. It was soft and fluffy and melted in my mouth. The key is to let them come to room temp. It really works. At $ 5.99 for a 6 oz.(at WF), it is very pricey. But who eats marshmallows on a regular basis? These are great for the occasional s’mores. And they even make vegan graham crackers! Watch this great clip of Bobby Deen and the owner, Sara:

Sweet & Sara saved my Thanksgiving meal plan!!! I had done some research a few days before Thanksgiving to make sure I could find a marshmallow company that didn’t have animal gelatin in their products because some of my guests were vegan. My boyfriend and I had attempted to make it at home but just couldn’t get the mixture at the right temperature. When I called Sweet & Sara I didnt realize their factory was in Long Island City, not that far away from our apartment! I was so happy to visit their place with my roommate day before Thanksgiving. Sara literally saved our Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole I was trying to make! It was absolutely delicious and I would gladly buy from her again in the near future.

Please, please, please OPENUP your own store! If you do, I will only go to your store for VEGANDESSERTS. I love you Sweet and Sara, you have made all my VEGAN dreams come true minus one(OPEN A STOREPLEASE)! I have encountered Sweet & Sara all over the city and really wish they would OPEN a STORE! Hey, have I convinced you enough to open a store? They were at this year’s 2012 Vegetarian Food Festival and I didn’t move from their stand for sometime. I really like their marshmallow treats. They have all kinds, including toasted coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. They also make brown rice krispy treats. All their desserts are so so good, and the best of all, it is all VEGAN. I love you Sweet & Sara. Please just open up a store already. You have a huge fan base already!

I happened to notice a review for Sweet & Sara on Unilocal and realized that they sell them in Whole Foods so I made a note to self to pick up a box. They are sold in the refrigerated section in case you venture into Whole Foods in search. I was kind of disappointed. I love marshmallows and really didn’t find these worthy of all the five star reviews. Sure they were good but at $ 6.00 for a 6oz box(that comes out to $ 16.00 per pound!). Kinda expensive for some corn syrup and sugar. Of the three varieties I sampled(cinnamon pecan, toasted coconut and vanilla), the cinnamon pecan was the winner; a lovely flavor combo: spiked with the perfect amount of cinnamon and topped with a praline pecan. I was just underwhelmed with the texture, I expected something light and airy with the texture of a firm meringue… what I tasted was slightly dense and dare I say a touch rubbery… mind you, nothing like a stale Kraft marshmallow, but still, nothing mind blowing. Last fall I went to Harvest, a beautiful restaurant in Closter, NJ and we ordered the dessert fondue with homemade marshmallows. Fluffy, tender, cloud like.

I first tried Sweet & Sara products via the VeganEssentials website — the S’mores are outstanding! The marshmallows are better than«regular» marshmallows, hands down — I don’t care what they say about the freshness — these marshmallows have stayed in my refrigerator for MONTHS and still taste good. Recently, I took advantage of a discount they offered through a group buying site and bought a few different items. The hazelnut biscotti were delicious & crumbly(possibly from shipping) and were fantastic with my coffee. They even sent me a sample — the strawberry marshmallow flavor is fantastic — it’s not chemically or fake tasting like lots of fruit flavored sweets and I look forward to getting more. They have great customer service and shipped everything very quickly! Hurray for sweet treats!
