I’ve been going to the same barber for ten years, so trying someone new made me a little anxious. But I have to say I am VERY pleased with the cut I got from Kirk! He did exactly what I asked and I thought the neck shave with the straight razor was a great touch. I’m old school, and even though their clientele seems to extend to all walks of life, he made me feel comfortable and very welcome. He’s got a new regular!

Such a great cut! These guys (and girl) are truly crushing the LIC Barbershop game. I was treated upon arrival to a small bourbon… gotta love that. Hip atmosphere and the music wasn’t overbearing. Only three chairs, but I’m sure their turnover rate is huge. Truly some skillful cutting, shaving, and conversation in there. Go, and be changed!

I’ve yet to get a shave at Otis&Finn apart from the back of my neck. As awesome as Kirk and company are, It takes a lot of trust to let a man get that close to your jugular with a razor. It’s a silly fear, because a barber could stab you in the neck just as easily with scissors.
In addition to the macabre sense of humor, I have weird hair. Sometimes barbers kind of screw it up. Kirk is two for two in giving me cuts that have gotten complements, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy and shit. The cuts are efficient, but you don’t get the sense that he’s rushing.
They have a good thing going over there.

Meh. Came here a few times and it was like pulling teeth to get in. The fact that you can’t walk in to a barber shop kind of throws me off. An appointment only barber shop just doesn’t make sense to me. The first time I came the guy that cut my hair did a nice job but has since left. The last time I was there I legitimately got the worst haircut of my life. I wore a hat for 2 weeks. Really, really nice guys but really, really, really overpriced. I think for what it costs I was just expecting a bit more. Found a permanent barber in LIC that’s half the price and twice the cut.

Fred is the man! I was hesitant to try a barbershop (as opposed to a more traditional salon) because I have slightly longer hair than the usual buzz cut — but after Fred gave me one of the best cuts of my life I was sold and made the switch to Otis & Finn Barbershop for good!
The guys here are super nice and it just has a great neighborhood vibe. I highly recommend them!

When it’s time to get a haircut– my wife says Otis and Finn. No doubt.
Kirk & Fred are both amazing at what they do. What Kirk can do for your hair, and what Fred can do for your beard (those dudes that have them) is amazing. They are truly dedicated to their craft and take pride in their cuts. Not only do they do superb cuts, they give you tips on how to maintain the cut, how to comb your hair, etc. Not only are they barbers, they’re style consultants.

This is my go-​to barber shop. Both Kirk and Fred are awesome. I’m a stand up comic so always need to look fresh and I trust these guys with my cut every time.
The store itself has a very cool vibe and you can tell the both really care about their customers. They also really know what they are doing. If you need a cut or a trim this will become your only stop!

This is the most on-​point crew of barbers on the planet. Most notable to me is Fred. The man has made my life incredibly easier. The guy really gets to know your head and grooming issues. He’ll notice areas where you may be having grooming issues, ask about your routine, then give sage ass advice. Because of this, I no longer mind shaving. After going to him a couple times, he was able to tailor my cut to last 4 weeks, a marked improvement. He disappeared from his previous barbershop, but after a little FB stalking, I was able to track him down to this new shop in LIC.
Unfortunately, I recently moved to LA and am 0 for 5 on finding a proper barber. I have half-​debated returning to NYC once a month, just for the haircut.

Simply the best. I came here per a local friend’s recommendation and had a truly remarkable haircut experience. Honestly, prior to this visit I had no idea that haircuts can be more than just having your hair cut — here, they not only know what looks good on your head but also treat you with a cup of bourbon whiskey. So you walk out not only looking handsome but also feeling great.
Matthew took care of me, giving me plenty advice on caring for my hair and using skin-​healthy hair products (glycerin and alcohol = dryness). His own hair was beautiful as fuck, so obviously he knew what he was talking about.
$ 35, and worth every bit of it. I’ve had similarly-​priced haircuts in Miami and other parts of New York City but none as satisfying as the one I received here. Five out of five stars, and not a single con I can think of. Looking forward to coming back!

Fred is a master barber, and I would highly recommend him to everyone. He explained exactly how he would give me the cut I requested, and then executed with precision. The hot towel and razor around the edges were nice touches but the cut was one of the best of my life.
Shop is very accessible to the 7 train, about 10 minutes from midtown (closer than downtown actually).

Two excellent things happened to me today… i received new underwear in the mail, and made the decision to go to Otis & Finn.
As someone who is exceptionally picky about their hair but has never received a cut i have actually been satisfied with… Otis & Finn are the best around
Matthew was my barber for this experience. he is pleasant and personable, listens to what it was i had in mind, and was able to execute exactly that.
All the while he informed me about how my hair would lay and reasons that certain styling options wouldn’t fit due to my specific head of hair.
I will always be going back here. The shop is relaxed and on a quiet street in an area still undeveloped. I hope as time moves along and more people come to the area they will only have to expand and take more space.
Matthew even mentioned to me that I could come back in for a quick follow up to clean everything up so that I would be satisfied with my haircut experience.
That is customer service.

Nice to know I don’t have to travel far, far away to get the perfect haircut. Fred has helped become one with the force of beard. Mine has never looked nor felt better, thanks to this wise master. My fades look like someone took a lightsaber to my head. Ah, such is the nature of the Jedi Barber.
Enjoyable company, excellent cuts and chill atmosphere. Plus whiskey. Whatever your reserves, fuck em.
Not cheap, but absolutely worth it.

I have and would follow Fred the Jedi Barber anywhere. I always get a great cut from Fred and the atmosphere at this new shop is low-​key and laidback. Close to transit (Court Square and Queens Plaza) although I typically walk from Astoria. It is a major plus they are open on the weekends because I would look like Cousin It from the Addams Family otherwise. Never really purchase any of the products because I do not put anything in my hair, but it seems to be well stocked and organized.
Cannot say enough things about Fred. I want him to get good reviews, but am frightened that if he gets too many, I will not be able to secure my regular Saturday morning appointment.

I’m pretty new to the area and have had some real problems trying to find a decent barber. After cycling through a number of Russian chaps who proceeded to miss bits for the last 5 months I found this place on Unilocal.
I rocked up without a booking on a rainy Saturday and was seated immediately. I’d say this was lucky so would recommend booking ahead.
Fred did an awesome job on the cut, was really knowledgeable and I let him do what he thought best. 30 mins later I was walking out with a great cut.
All of the guys were very friendly but not in an overly awkward way. I will defiantly be coming back for my next trim. The price BTW is $ 35, which seems pretty decent for the effort they put in.

I don’t even know how to describe how I want my hair cut. So when I leave a place with a haircut I like, it deserves 5 stars.
I’m actually used to getting a 10-​dollar cut from a small salon in my neighborhood, so this was a bit high-​end for me. Nevertheless, I thought this place was worth it. Nice precise haircut, barber (forgot his name) inquired frequently about how I thought of my cut. Walked away not feeling itchy at all. They do the little things very well. Staff are all friendly.

They sell Suavecito Pomade!
My brother and I were visiting friends in NY and he forgot to bring his pomade on the trip. We stopped by Otis & Finn and were greeted with huge smiles! Kirk sold him some pomade for $ 10 and my brother decided to get a cut since we were there already and bc he was really digging the ambiance. Kirk did an amazing job and seemed to be really passionate about his work. Wish we had a place like this in LA.
