I got my FHV licence from her. It’s at a good location off of the R Train. They are really convenient to public transportation.

Needed to complete my training in a short time span and the folks at Master Cabbie went above and beyond to help me. Everyone, from the front office and their instructors were all top notch! Their experience and expertise cannot be beat!

this place is a complete ripoff. I registered for the online class for $ 135 for 3 consecutive days and thought i was getting a great deal… boy was I wrong. As soon i walked through the door the office secretary, middle eastern women, started trying to sell me things before they even asked who I was. She told me I HAD to buy a map, and buy other «study guide» materials. I told the women politely I’m fine because I lived and have drove in NYC for about 10 years and know it like the back of my hand. She then brought in the teacher who said no map no class. Then somehow the 3 day class was unavailable consecutively. they wanted me to take it in a period of 3 weeks! or for an additional charge i can take it in a week… a cab license, after taking the test takes 6 to 8 weeks to arrive. so they wanted to add another 3 weeks to that. making it a 3 month wait instead of 2. I told her that this was called false advertising and i wanted a refund. They then made me wait about an hour in the office, talk to the owner and i had to argue him down with logic for about another 20 minutes more before he finally decided to give me my money back. It’s sad how they take advantage of people who don’t necessarily speak good English and just simply comply to pay all the hidden fees that come out once you enter the door. Bad business policy. there is only 4 taxi schools in NY. you guys don’t have to rip people off. its near impossible not to make money in your line of business. I personally after that went to H.A.N.A.C/N.Y.S. Federation of Taxi Drivers Academy where its a flat rate of $ 175 including the test. No hidden fees and no «mandatory» study material purchases required.

Flexible schedules and good instructors are par for the course, but watch out for the hard sell for «special classes» which cost hundreds of dollars for not much pay off. Instead, take a $ 15 practice test (on the computer) and see how you fair – my roommate and I scored passing grades without studying or taking any prep courses.
The best place in the city, as far as I can tell, for filling your taxi license requirements. On top of – literally – some train stations. Plenty of close food options, too.
