Kumo!!! We’ve always driven passed this place on Northern Blvd. And I always thought this place was a club or something and it seems out of place because it’s near like car dealerships and retail stores. But it is in a good area, especially for when people are hungry. When I found this place on Unilocal and realized it was this place, I was shocked. We came here about 3 weeks ago because of the all you can eat sushi and all you can drink beer and sake for $ 29.95 on the weekends including Friday nights! I remembered we ordered the dragon roll, spider roll, sexy roll, etc. And besides the rolls, we ordered some sushi too where they have the raw fish on top of rice. Everything was really good. At first, we ordered sake and two glasses of beer for both of us. We finished it all and then the girl asked us if we wanted more. We said sure. And she asks if we would like a pitcher… lol. And again we said, of course! I think it was too much for me to handle though… lol. We would have ordered dessert too, but that you have to pay for separately and not included in the all you can eat! Too bad! :(They should be like Sushi Village that includes all appetizers, food, sushi, and dessert in the all you can eat! LOL! Since this place is not too far from home, I will be coming here a lot more! :)

***3.5*** Pleasant surprises can indeed come from the most unexpected places. Nestled between an automobile repair shop and a carpet store, no one will guess that Kumo offers elegant interiors, a well-appointed dining room and a great bar. We attended a birthday celebration here and the food was just delicious. It was a sit-down meal, served family style with: salad, salmon sashimi, steak, shrimp tempura etc. The salmon sashimi was fresh, the cooked items were served piping hot and and they even have bubble tea. The only problem was that they must have ran out of dishes as they served some of the items on disposable dishes. Kumo also delivers and their Bento boxes for lunch($ 7) and dinner($ 11) are one of the best, if not the best in the area. They used to have a dinner box that includes both beef and shrimp tempura but they have now done away with it. :( I am not a huge sushi eater so I have not tried their eat and drink all you can for $ 30 but that sounds like the best deal anyone can get.

Finally a good sushi spot in the neighborhood. I really enjoyed their food and drinks. The prices were very affordable.

ehh. they have couple of really good special rolls, but other than that, this place is just whatever. for a sushi restaurant located in the craps of astoria, i feel like it’s too fancy for no good reason. however, if you’re really hungry and you know you’re going to order a lot of sushi rolls, the all you can eat deal is pretty sick. for $ 25 or $ 30, you can order all the sushi rolls you want for 2 hours. oh yea, but the service here is SOSLOW so make sure you order a lot of rolls at once. but then there’s another problem of being charged for all the leftover sushi if you can’t finish it all.

Kumo is definitely one of my favorite sushi restaurants. I’ve been here a couple times already and I’ve never been disappointed. Whenever I go here, I go for the all you can eat and drink special. For $ 30 dollars you get to eat as much sushi and drink as much beer as you can. You just can’t beat the value anywhere. I usually get around 5 – 6 special rolls and about 3 beers and this deal easily saves me $ 20-$ 30 dollars. For this price you would expect the food to be just ok, not the case here. The sushi is always fresh and of great quality. Some of my favorite rolls are Spicy Dragon Roll Good Time Roll Spider Roll. They have a nice drink menu which I haven’t been able to try but my friends have said good things about. The place seems to be pretty empty most of the time, even on saturday nights. It must be the location because it’s definitely not the food. So if you’re having a craving for sushi and you just want to pig out give this place a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

So i ordered from here again, but this time I ordered 2 chirashis — one for me and one for my husband. The assorted fish this time was thinly sliced and I was dissappointed by the selection. I guess they got cheap. They should be more consistent if they want my ongoing business. Next time I’m going to call them out on it and make sure they don’t go cheap with the pieces. Or else I’m going back to Linn or Osaka.

I did the all-you-can-eat sushi & sake & was thrilled by it. Great selection of rolls, sushi, salads & soups to choose from. I did not find the squid good at all. The octopus was a little rubber & the tuna had a weird taste to it, but that didn’t stop me from eating all of it. BECAREFULIFYOUORDERTHEALLYOUCANEAT! They added a 15% gratuity onto my bill AUTOMATICALLY! I was very happy that I saw this before I left a tip for as much as the whole bill. The restaurant is very trendy — great for a date. The service is fast, friendly.

Came here for my wife’s surprise birthday dinner. After previous experience on a big party dinner elsewhere, my expectation on the service was very low. To my surprised, they greeted us with open arms and open tables. I myself ordered the All You Can Eat Sushi. Although all the sushi was awesome, I think I over did it. My wife had the salmon bento box, that was good too. Overall my party of 12 was very happy with the food and the service. One negative thing, they only have 1 waitress the whole night(even on a Monday night was not enough).

I saw Jocy’s review and know she has good taste and it looked good for the value. I have been here several times already but never took pictures until now. It happens to be near the new great taco place too. (Home Made Taqueria) The 5 star rating system is neither useful funny or cool. I gave one in Brooklyn 4 stars but only because it was better than other Brooklyn sushi restaurants but it can’t be compared to Manhattan sushi. really Ki is only 3 stars. I would compare this to Ki in Brooklyn. Good for Queens and a better value than Ki in Brooklyn. So I am giving it 3 stars but for Queens it would be 4 and for Manhattan it would be 3. The rating system is really useless for just 5 stars it is hard to know what to give it. It is a great value! My husband heard them speaking Chinese and they tend to smother rolls in sauce(which is not a traditional Japanese sushi technique) that is for American palates. But it is a great value.

Hidden gem! Great deals on sushi + 5 minutes from my house = WINNNNN Gibson H. and I have passed and made fun of this place for months without every eating here because of their tacky signage on their store front. We finally decided to take a look — ahh a hidden gem in the most random place in Queens. GREAT deals on sushi and other food(not the BEST I’ve had but def. decent). The interior is modern and clean — so different from its façade. Service is good because this place never seems too crowded. Free parking in the auto shop parking lot after 6PM. 3 rolls for $ 10. All you can drink and eat for $ 30. All you can eat for $ 25. Food — 6.5 Décor — 7 Service — 7 *ratings out of 10

So, my Dad took me out to this place for my birthday because I wanted to try it out and see what was up. I mean, I love sushi and I wanted to get a sense of the place for my friends who like all you can drink options as well. To be honest, I felt underwhelmed by this place. A few things were tasty, but for the most part, the food(at least what I ordered) was bland EXCEPTFORTHESEXYROLLWHICHWASREALLY, REALLYGOODOHYEAHBABYGIVEMETHATSHRIMPTEMPURACOVEREDINWHITETUNAANDSPICYSAUCEOHYEAHSOGOODMMMDON’T STOPTHESHRIMPTEMPURAPOWERWAVEALLTHETIMEEVERYDAY. Whoa sorry. Don’t know what got ahold of me there OHWAITYES I DOITWASTHESEXYROLLBECAUSEITWASSOGOOD. Sexiness aside, the other reason that I’d give this place 3 stars instead of 2 is because of their all you can drink beer, wine, sake bomb, and house sake special that only costs you an additional $ 4($ 30 total). And, to be fair, their yellowtail sushi was pretty good. Also, the décor was swanky. There was dim lighting, fancy koryodang-style chairs with glass tables and table dividers and colorful dim lights and unce unce unce I AM A EURODANCERCOMETOMYPAHTYTRALALA. I did take offense with some things, however. First, seriously, you’re not going to offer sashimi as part of the deal? I mean I LOOOOVVEEERICEOMGIT’S SOGOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDMORERICEPLEASE. But, alot of all you can eat sushi zealots(crazy sushi nation jingoists) will basically slit the throat of a baby seal and use its blood to summon a raw fish-serving demon on an altar of eternal damnation. Those dudes will be seriously pissered if they go here and see that sashimi ain’t part of the plan. OHNOYOUDIDN’T! Second, they were seriously running the clock on us. I mean, honestly, I’m a little person how much damage could I possible do to your fish reserves in the two hour time limit(also what the hell… two hour time limit? Not that you’d ever go over 2 hours but seriously did Homer Simpson try to roll on this place to take it out). It took an inordinately-long period of time to prepare a spinach hand roll. Seriously, you scoop out rice and the spicy tuna that’s premade into seaweed and roll it. GORDONRAMSAYFAIL! Finally, they were purposefully trimming our orders and forgetting to add stuff that we requested. A lot of all you can eat places do this, but not when there’s only two people ordering like 2 things each to start. I mean, really? Jerry Springer Final Thoughts: A cool place to go if you wanna get dronk and eat some sushis along the way, but don’t like karaōke. For instance, an all you can drink with limited sushi option available at most karaōke places(for $ 35 for two hours) will probably serve the purpose just as well. So, give it a shot, but it wouldn’t be my go to place if I just wanted to eat sushi. :D

I’ve been eating AYCE sushi in NYC for over the last 20 years. This is the best one ever.(Some would say the defunct Minado but that’s really a buffet place). The sad thing about good AYCE places is that they last for 3 – 6 years. I’ve delayed writing this review for fear of jinxing the place. Here’s hoping for a long life and that Chinese restauranteurs can handle AYCE better than Japanese or Koreans. The fact that I come here ~every 2 weeks for the last 18 months, and get AYCE only about ¼ of the time speaks of the place. Most AYCE places, I would only go to for AYCE. The lunch specials are delightful, tasty and reasonably priced($ 7 – 10). You can get better, but you’ll have to pay more and search for it. You can also pay a lot more and not get any better. Tempura is usually good. Lots of crunch, and not greasy. Best appetizer is the shrimp shumai(6 fried delights) — which also comes(4) with your bento boxes. It is better as an appetizer though as it’s hot and not warm. Lunch may be better than dinners — though dinners are always better when you add AYCD. Skip the cold sake, and go for hot. With the cold beers — you can sake bomb or just use it and the miso soup to clean your palate. Friday/Weekend service can be spotty and subpar. Midweek has always been very good for me. The weekend service is the only reason this place does not get 5 stars. If it was only poor during primetime weekends I’d still give them 5 stars, because the AYCE is also AYCD for $ 4 more. I’m heading there now. And will write a fuller review with more menu item reviews and AYCE methodology(all you can vs all you want styles of dining) later.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had hands down! I go here about once a month and order for delivery once or twice a month. At 25.95 for all you can eat and 29.95 for all you can eat and drink it is hard to go wrong especially when the sushi is as delicious as it is at Kumo. **Takes about 3 – 4 rolls to break even and 1.5 beers to break even(when you take all you can drink as well)**. The fish is always fresh and they are usually generous with the wasabi and ginger. I highly recommend(out of many that I love): Spicy Dragon Roll Chef Eel Roll White Tuna Tataki Roll House Roll Pepper Tuna Roll The only downside to the restaurant is that the music is a little loud at time, but they will lower it if you ask nicely. Delivery: I live out in Jackson Heights($ 15 minimum order — which is easy to achieve), it takes about 30minutes to 1 hour to arrive, which I find perfectly acceptable considering the distance and time of preparation. The food quality and taste is exactly the same as if you ordered it in the restaurant itself, which is a big plus in my book. Beverages: They have a small, but good selection of beer and sake. Overall: I’d highly recommend this place if you are looking for good priced sushi with great taste and wide variety. You can never go wrong when you go to Kumo

Went to Kumo twice so far. My sister recommended this place and I’m glad she did. The chef can replace the white rice in the sushi rolls with brown rice per request. There is an extra charge of $ 1.00 though. The ambience is great. When you first walk in there are steps to a bar area and then the seating is behind the bar area. They have booth type seating which is nice and comfy in lieu of tables and chairs. It looks loungy and I think it would be a great place to celebrate a birthday. I went there for the second type with a group and they ordered a sushi platter and split it between 3 people. It was more than enough sushi and very filling. Their sushi pieces are $ 1.00 each which is amazingly priced. I get to order Ikura sushi my favorite for only $ 1.00 a piece. All you can eat sushi is $ 24.95 for all you can eat. $ 29.95 for all you can eat and drink. Considering the cheap price on the sushi see what’s worth it for you. I passed on the all you can eat since I know what pieces I like and it ended up costing less than the all you can eat. The alcoholic drinks are pretty good. I tried plum wine and a lychee tini both very good. Really loved the lychee tini it was great and my first time having one. I only gave it 4 stars because I had better bubble tea elsewhere. Great service!

So far I’ve been to Kumo twice for lunch and I gotta say, their lunch deal rocks! Their lunch bento box is just $ 6.95 and their sushi/sashimi lunch special is just $ 8.95. The first time I went, I had the TRI-COLORSASHIMILUNCHSPECIAL. My friend got the TUNALOVERLUNCHSPECIAL. All sushi/sashimi specials come with miso soup or salad. The tri-color sashimi is 3 slices each of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The tuna-lover is 3 slices of tuna sashimi, 2 tuna nigiri, and a tuna sushi roll. I thought the sashimi was average in size and quality. Don’t get me wrong. It was decently fresh for the price, but I’ve been spoiled by amazing sashimi elsewhere. If I was really craving sashimi I’d order this again, but otherwise the lunch bento box is better for an even better price. So the second time I went I tried the SALMONTERIYAKILUNCHBENTO. This is where it’s at! All lunch bentos come with miso soup, rice, shumai, California roll and salad — all standard, nothing special. The salmon teriyaki was a good-sized portion and pretty tasty too. I like that there were also grilled veggies included. I think Kumo is a solid lunch option to have in my own neighborhood. There’s also an all-you-can-eat-and-drink for $ 30 M-F /4 – 9. It’s not the best sushi in Astoria***, but it’s definitely the best deal. **You can order for delivery online. Minimum order of $ 10 required for delivery. ***If you’re looking for the best sushi in Astoria regardless of price, give JJ’s or Watawa a try.

I recently embarked on a mission to find the best bubble tea in the city, and Kumo was my first stop since it is close to home for me. My boyfriend and I ventured out the night before Thanksgiving around 8pm. Kumo was absolutely deserted — only one other couple was sitting at the bar with us. We felt lame only ordering bubble tea, so we also ordered an Angel Roll as well(even though we had already eaten dinner). I had the almond tea w/pearls and my boyfriend had the jasmine tea w/pearls. The boba was of decent consistency, perhaps a bit on the chewy side, but my tea tasted very watery. My boyfriend’s jasmine tea tasted a lot nicer than mine. I thought the roll was kind of «meh»(especially considering it was $ 12) and our service was definitely not good considering there were only four people in the entire place. I might go back sometime to try the all you can eat sushi — I really liked the lounge’s atmosphere, so maybe I just caught them on an off night.

While three stars would be a bit harsh, four stars might overrate Kumo just a tad. Where is the half-star when you need it? As a city dweller, any eatery that warrants a 30-minute commute would create a certain level of expectation(even if it was just subconsciously). Though once you find the darn place and step through the entrance, the ambiance of the place was quite impressive. For a lounge/restaurant combination, it can definitely cater to diners and drinkers(or both simultaneously) with a sleek bar area in the front and a good-sized dining area just past the bar. The flat screen TVs look fantastic and are strategically situated in spots where you can catch a game in progress or random TV program on a slow weeknight(without obstruction). AYCE sushi for $ 30+ is very good deal when you factor in a complimentary bottle of sake. The rolls and sushi are loaded with solid amounts of fish in each piece, emphasizing the fact they are not trying to overload you with rice. There are certainly no complaints about the portions or amount of rice used in the rolls, yet none of the rolls/sushi pieces stood out to be particularly tasty or memorable. They were a bit bland in taste, without that extra bit of sweetness or cool feeling on your tongue once it goes in your mouth. Furthermore, both of my dinner companions were amused when they noticed how a number of rolls seem to be rearranging the same ingredients and slapping on a different name for each arrangement! Then again, you have to remind yourself that you are not going to an AYCE sushi to get«Yasuda» quality sushi. You are going there for quantity and for a fish craving that would cost you a lot more at a normal sushi restaurant. And when you do make the decision to come here while ignoring travel time and average quality of sushi, the portions, décor, and attentive servers allow Kumo to be on the cusp of a(rounded up) 4-star experience.

The sushi here is great for the price! However, it is a bit of a trek and far from any public transportation lines. I have to say this is def. my favorite sushi place in New York considering it’s AYCE and pretty decent quality sushi including many diff. types of sashimi. For your first order, most pieces have minimal rice and are quite delicious. The chef takes his time setting up your entire order on one large platter.(I got anxious waiting!) If you order another round, I notice they tend to load up on the rice in fear you might order more and more… I’d definitely return whenever I’m in the area or I feel like getting some exercise!

Neat find in Long Island City on Northern Blvd. This place just recently opened for a little over a month now. and let me tell you, they’ve worked out a good amount of their kinks. Where else can you go and get ALLYOUCANEAT + ALCOHOLICDRINKS and still pay only $ 30?!? *Non-alcoholic drinkers — take off $ 5* This place is definitely not your authentic Japanese style sushi house, but for $ 30 all you can eat — it’s a very sweet deal! With that said, the quality of the fish definitely exceeds the $ 30 price tag of all you can eat. You definitely get your money’s worth! Atmosphere is great. Few additional notes: 1) Manager’s name is Harry — very personable guy. 2) For the SAKE-BOMB lovers, this place does sake bombs as part of the $ 30 all you can eat. It’s pretty entertaining to watch other customers. Go SAKE-BOMB crazy! 3) This Kumo is NOTRELATED to the other 3 Kumo restaurants listed on Unilocal. They are NOT affiliated with the ones located in Park Slope, Astoria(Ditmars), and Upper West Side. In fact, this Kumo is his first restaurant but he’s been in the restaurant business before. Wish him the best of luck. He’s off to a pretty good start! 4) Parking may be a bit hard to find. There’s an auto shop down the street from Kumo, and if the auto shop is closed(after 6pm?) — I was told by Harry that you can park there… but if it’s all you can drink — would you REALLY be DRIVING?!? It’s only a block and half away from the 46th Street train station. 5) This place is also wheelchair accessible. I was quite impressed! Definitely worth a trip here. Bring a group of friends; they’ve got plenty of seating!
