I went for a simple date night with groupon offer purchased. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a very friendly welcome and promptly seated. The server also greeted with a very polite manner. Live guitar music enhanced the already positive vibe since the walk in. We have no complaint on our main dish; it was delicious. Only reason for 4 star instead of five is just because our bread came out cold. Couldn’t break the butter into it. Other than a cold basket of bread from walk in to walking out it was a great dining experience. We told each other that we’ll be back sometime near future.

LOCATIONISCLOSED. Besides the fact they are closed they had pretty good food. The fire place was beautiful.

Pros: nice outdoor space Cons: — food is subpar — seafood is alarmingly unfresh — high price point — incompetent waiter We asked the waiter about different wines that the restaurant served and each time he’d nervously run back to the bar and check before we finally asked if there was a drink menu we could look at to save him the trouble. I also mentioned that there was a free check in glass of wine special and he told me they are no longer honoring that despite it still being up on foursq at the time I checked in. At the end of our meal he asked how the seafood was and we let him know that it was extremely fishy. He responded by ensuring it was fresh and that’s the way it’s suppose to taste… I feel like they may have changed chefs and waiting staff as I had a pretty good experience the first time around. Total shame.

I was invited by a friend who happened to have a deal, once we arrived we were seated right away as the place was not crowded. We got started with a nice bread basket, warm bread always a good choice with some olive oil to top it off. For drinks we had some wine, I Had the Pinot Grigio always a choice for me, My friend had a Red Chabernet good as well. For Appetizers I tried the Buffalo Mozzarella, not bad good taste. My friend tried the Mesculin Salad, good as well Main dish I went with the the Spaghetti With Garlic Olive oil and broccoli rabe, I am not a fan of broccoli rabe so I substituted with regular broccoli, good dish, nice taste & decent size. My Friend had the Seafood Linguine, nice dish as well. After all this we managed to still have some room for dessert, we tried the Tartuffe Cocholata, good ice cream treat. The restaurant is quiet, dimly lit, nice fire place. As for the décor similar to places u find in Italy, nice & quaint. Never knew this place was here? nice find for the area decent food, prices are reasonable & good service. Our waitress was very pleasant. We enjoyed our meal.

Decent Italian food at pretty high prices. I went several months ago with a Groupon or some deal, and I honestly can’t remember what we ate. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t memorable, and we probably won’t be back. It could be an okay option in the Court Square area if you really want Italian.

Nice little find in the heart of Long Island City. We found the place through Unilocal, and took the good reviews and went with it. Great choice and the reviews were right on. We we’re the only ones in the place at 5:00 pm and decided to eat out on their back patio(which was made to look like a courtyard or garden in Italy). We, collectively had the pepperoni pizza, the fettuccini with a pink sauce, and veal scallopini. Which were all great. The only down side was we didn’t have time to stay to try the desserts, which I imagine were just as awesome(we had to catch a show in the city). If we’re ever back here and have the opportunity to be near LIC, we’ ll definitely be back. Highly recommend seeking DaGianni’s out. You won’t be disappointed.

I came here on a Saturday night and this place was pretty quiet. The ambiance is nice as we dined in the backyard. The food was good, the service is good too and the prices are reasonable. This place just needs something different to make you come back.

Da Gianni’s is a super low key Italian restaurant near Court Sq stop. It totally reminds me of restaurants in Florence, exposed brick wall, odd paintings and cozy vibe. The waitress sat us down right away with bread and butter. We got a dinner coupon for two and it was a good deal. We started with appetizers for two. We tried their homemade mozzarella with tomato and Prosciutto Di Parma E Melon. I think the mozzarella is pretty good although I am no Mozzarella cheese pro. The prosciutto place is excellent. The melon neutralizes the saltiness in prosciutto. For entrée, I decided to go low carb and got a striped bass in red sauce while my husband ordered their seafood pasta dish — Linguine Al Frutti Di Mare. I have to say the pasta is my favourite of the night and I kind of regretted not ordering a pasta dish myself. The linguine is perfectly cooked and the red sauce is light but rich in flavor. They gave you tons of mussels and shrimp too. My fish is tender and delicious too but i would much prefer a pasta. We ended our dinner with their chocolate hazelnut cake. It is a generous piece and very sweet and tasty. I wish they did not run out of tiramisu! I would die for those! Overall, it is a pretty solid Italian restaurant with simple but good menu and a nice selection of wine.

This place was a real surprise! I was expecting average food. My expectations were blown away! We had a table of four and we were all very happy with our dishes. The chicken parm was my favorite. They serve you fresh bread that is fabulous! This is a true gem in LIC! I’m happy we live so close to here!

Came back here for dinner last night because I was in the neighborhood and the food has definitely changed over time. According to my waiter, the restaurant had changed chefs within the last year, thus compromising my beloved gnocchi with vodka sauce. They used to have the, hands down, most incredible vodka sauce I had ever tasted, but this has now changed for the worse. Not only did the sauce not taste like vodka sauce, it also didn’t taste any more special than a generic tomato sauce out of a jar. When questioned about the sauce, our waiter said«our vodka sauce has no vodka in it.» Wait a second… Vodka sauce. Vodka, sauce. If I’m not mistaken, vodka sauce should have vodka in it. I don’t know if they were cutting corners with my order since the restaurant was so empty, or if the new chef has some misconstrued perception of what vodka sauce is. Anyway, I no longer have any reason to return to this place given its now mediocre food due to their new chef. It’s off my food map.

This is one of those places that’s a hidden gem. Been coming here for a few years with great experiences. I usually come in a large group and they have never kicked us out. One of the things that’s tough to find in restaurants is how accomodating they can or can’t be for large groups. It’s really good, delicious Italian food. Whenever I think of Italian i think of this place. I think they may have switched chefs because they used to have this droolworthy stuffed mushrooms but they changed the menu a bit! Some of the dishes have changed slightly too in flavor. The veal parmigiana with salad is really good. The best part: dessert. Their tartufo and lemon ice is my ultimate favorite dessert. I always compare desserts to this place. If you’re looking for a relaxing Friday evening meal, check this place out.

Wow. I’m truly befuddled. You know things must be bad when you’re wishing you’d chosen Olive Garden instead. Seriously. I am so glad that I consumed 5 cocktails at Dutch Kills beforehand, because otherwise this experience would have been even worse than it was. If I could give this place 0 stars, I definitely would. The food was just terrible. It tasted old and bland. The calamari was soggy and barely had any breading. We inquired as to which pasta was the best so we ordered the seafood pasta. I’ve had Lean Cuisines that looked similar, yet were more appetizing than this dish. We also ordered a garlic chicken dish; it was lukewarm and simply tasted old and flavorless. I had a few bites and could not bring myself to consume anymore. It was that bad. This meal was so terrible that I even decided to forgo dessert(if you read my reviews you know that this is a very hard concept for me to fathom). Just horrible.

One of Long Island City’s true gem’s. Its a cute little Italian place a bit off the beaten path that deserves a stop in. From the minute you walk in it’s a real family run atmosphere. We went on a Groupon and I was a bit hesitant, never knowing how that would be received, but the staff quickly put that at ease as we were treating like top-paying customers. The service was impeccable. My water glass never went empty and the waiters were all eager to answer any questions we had and get us anything we needed. Now for the best part… the food. We started with the Beef Carpaccio and the Calamari and both were fantastic. The calamari was crispy and plentiful(a heaping plateful) and not greasy by any means. And the Beef Carpaccio was light and succulent and the light glazing of Truffle Oil was a wonderful addition to the palette. For entrees my wife had the home-made vegetable ravioli’s which were very light and flavorful and I had the Linguini with Seafood which was out of this world. A lot of seafood and a lot of flavor. And it all tasted fresh. The clams were some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The only disappointment we had was that after living in LIC for 2 ½ years we’re only now discovering the restaurant. Highly recommended.

It was okay. The beef carpaccio was a very good portion, but lacked overall flavor My wife and I both had veal dishes, and again they were okay, but nothing spectacular. Mine was lacking flavor, as they somehow found the most flavorless prosciuotto(sp?) in the world to top it with. Also, the dishes were served with no pasta, just veal and vegetables. It seemed that most other restaurants would have put it over a bad of pasta or risotto, but oh well. Average, average, average.

I bought a deal from Groupon for this place and tried it out this past Friday. Arrived at our reservation time of 6:30 and the place was pretty empty for a Friday night, so we were a little worried. The host, or at least who were thought was a host sat us down and left. Then another waiter asked if we would like water. Then another waiter asked if what we would like to drink. Keep in mind, we still have not be given a menu. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly but we had to ask for the menu. Certainly the first time ever that we had to do this at a restaurant. They offered us bread with butter… The bread was regular supermarket bought Italian bread, cold and stale. Thumbs down! We ordered the calamari, mussels, veal with Marsala and the grilled steak. The calamari was a bit bland, even with the sauce. The mussels in white wine was better tasting but there was still sand in the mussels. I ordered my steak medium but it came out pretty raw so instead of returning it, I figured with a little bit of steak sauce it would be ok. They only had one A1 bottle and it had 2 drops in it and was EXPIRED — July2011. My husband had the veal and he has been paying for it all of Saturday. We asked for the check and discovered that they included an 18% tip. We were a party of two and this«policy» was never disclosed when we were seated… The service was horrible, we didn’t know who our waiter was, we had to ask for the menu and they gave us expired sauce. Never going back to this place again… Unless I want to loose a few pounds from food poisoning.

I stumbled upon Da Gianni’s when friends and I decided to leave the Saturday pool party at the Palms for a food break. Little did we know this family establishment would provide exactly the calm reprieve from the bass that we needed. The owner gave us all coupons while we perused the menu. We were seated in the patio outback where a cutie with an acoustic guitar was serenading the patrons. Never one to spend too long on a menu, I selected the«Italian sushi» special, ground seafood wrapped in zucchini and grilled over a delicious salad. Great portion size coupled with a great bottle of red(I can’t recall which). If I ever find myself in LIC again, I will be back. Hell, I would even brave the train from Manhattan to experience this place again.

Mmmmm, yeah not for me I guess. Not sure why it got such rave reviews from everyone else. It is really in the middle of nowhere. The *owner,* I presume, was nice enough but the place was DEAD. As I entered with my husband the other couple was leaving. We were the only people there and there was no heat in the room; not comfortable. They probably didn’t want to waste the money to turn it on for just 2 people sitting there. Atmosphere is fine, not romantic or cozy, just fine. Probably good to bring a group of people. Food was ok. My chicken franciase looked like it was ordered off the kiddie menu, but tasted fine. My husband got the linguini frutti di mare which was fine as well. Nice people, but meh.

I usually am disappointed with the restaurants in the LIC area, but this little Italian joint is a winner. Very solid atmosphere, very clean, incredible service, and the food is beyond spectacular. I felt like i was dining in a very upscale restaurant, everything was top notch. They are very accommodating with the dishes, we were told that they would make anything for us even though it wasn’t on the menu. I had ravioli IL pomodoro which was amazing!!! my gal pal had the Chicken Breast with lemon and white wine… it was remarkable. I would highly recommend this place if you have a nice date or some special occasion, if you do bring a date, trust me, she will leave here impressed, and who knows, you might get lucky.
