Overall — a nice coffee shop with an knowledgable barista and pretty good coffee. Stumbled upon this coffee shop as I was doing an early rock climbing/yoga workout nearby at Brooklyn Boulders. The barista was relatively knowledgable about the coffee beans and the coffee brewing process. I ordered coffee(specifically Mbeya Beans) using the Chemex pour over method. Barista did a good job with the coffee as the coffee came out relatively smooth and not overbrewed where the coffee aroma was not masked. I also had an iced americano which also did not dissapoint. The barista did a good job on pulling the espresso shot. Espresso shot had a good bite and cut through the milk. Price is the same as any coffee shop. Overall — would come back again. Great environment and decent coffee.

Great coffee I had a latte, an industrial hidden gem in our neighborhood. The barista was excellent. Open daily 7 – 7 and on weekends 9 – 4. Nice music, and a great collection of books. I would recommend two things: doughnuts from donut plant, and wifi. Come on we are in 2016 guys free wifi is a must. I will be a regular for sure.

The Birch Coffee was rated in TimeOut Magazine as The Best Coffee Shops in NYC. Now The coffee roasts and brews in ILC location. Birch’s coffee features a lending library. Enjoy your coffee and a book!

While the atmosphere is pristine, the coffee is overpriced(typical for nouveau roasters — charging $ 20/lbs and sometimes even more) and the café, while pleasant, does not have a restroom for customers. The sheepish ‘we’re wifi-free’ from the barista was really ‘we don’t provide a wifi network’ because, they don’t. The communal table is nice for one or two people, however, it is not level and my beverage nearly spilled all over my work from one subtle move of a third person sitting. On the whole, the café appears inviting and ends up being a sterile and unfriendly environment for sitting, so get your overpriced cup of jo, and just keep going… lucky for me, there are many, many cafés popping up in LIC.

Staff is unbearably rude. However the coffee is good. Can be a long wait in the am(especially after ordering).

This is about a 3.5 because while I love the space and their drinks, the 5pm closing time means that I’ll be spending a lot less time and money in here than I would otherwise. This location is also a roastery and cupping lab and it looks like they do training for baristas in the back. Maybe that’s why they’re not open until 8pm like all other Birch locations? And they’re also closed on the weekends. It’s a huge bummer for those of us who work or live in the area and would want coffee outside of working hours. Hopefully they change that.

Best coffee in the area. Love the flat white and the drip. Also has great ambiance. Not much options for food — only quick snacks such as oatmeal bars.

Great coffee and nice space. But definitely need more breakfast items. **Update: closed Sunday? What?

No wifi. No bathroom. Pretty rude staff. Coffee was alright, but for a place to not have a bathroom is a black mark. I will not be coming back.

So happy to have a good coffee place in this area! Regular coffee any size($ 3) is self serve but you have the option of ringing a bell and having a barista make espresso drinks for you! Baristas are always super welcoming and nice. There are some benches to enjoy your coffee at but I’m usually in a rush. You can obviously buy beans from this location as well. Note: they actually close around 5pm last time I checked. And they’re not open on weekends :(bummer!

I’m so glad Birch opened up in LIC and now I don’t have to go all the way into the city for a decent cup of coffee. The people at Birch are cool ass people and they make buying coffee a pleasant experience. I’m looking forward to eating the food now.
