The atmosphere is great and blends well with the neighborhood. The happy hour is a great option too. As for the food… The banh mi was quite good — the bread was fresh, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was good; it was cooked kebab style, then put on the sandwich and had nice char on it. I’d say the only negative was that not every bite had chicken in it. The slaw it comes with is tasty as well. I agree with other reviews that both the chicken phở and the beef phở were mediocre. The broth was not very flavorful. The beef had slightly more flavor but also a more oily mouth feel. The toppings they provide are good and fresh. But they don’t overcome the bland broth.

It may look impressive, but boy was it a letdown… I came here during opening week as I was pretty pumped about a new Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood. The décor was pretty cool as there was a long bench and element of Vietnam food culture– chopsticks in the center. It blended well with the LIC neighborhood vibe. I ordered the beef phở. This is the standard of how I judge all Vietnamese place. The phở came out lukewarm. I had concerns whether the broth could cook the beef slices. This gives me serious health concerns. The broth had no flavor– poorly seasoned. The broth was very fairly clear and I question what was going on in the kitchen. It made me question whether did any of the staff ate phở or vietnamese food before. This was instant phở powder bad. I know because I tried during college to make phở out of my dorm. I would rate the food a 1. The décor is a 3. If you are in LIC and wants Vietnamese food, walk to Cyclo. You’ll thank me later.

Pretty good food and quick customer service. I’d recommend their curry items. This place is good for mid-sized groups too.

Food is pretty solid, portions have gotten smaller in the past month or so. Decent beer selection a bit pricey and bartenders don’t always buy you a drink after your third or fourth. Owners are great and an awesome spot to have in the area, just not sure if it’s going to overtake my other local go tos.

Asian food for white people who like to sit in a pretty place & drink. Had the beef phở –strangely greasy with a light broth with no beef bone flavor or spices. Ordered the large, phở bo. Came out quickly but very thin noodles, so it didn’t seem as substantial as it could have been. I’ll be back to try other menu –hopefully the food will get better. This place will do well in the neighbourhood because of the lack of other options.

Ordered take out for oxtail noodle soup 2 weeks ago it tasted great. The banh mi was very small for the price but I liked the soup so went back. Came back a week later for take out and the soup was watered down. They made me wait a long time so I guess they might have ran out of soup and just added water. No one probably tasted how water down it was or didn’t care. I would have changed my order if they told me they didn’t have any oxtail soup instead of me not enjoying it. I will update my review if I ever decide to come back again.

PROs: Full bar, happy hour 3 – 7 everyday Another restaurant option in LIC Friendly staff CONs: Less than impressive food Inexcusable mediocre phở broth, greasy pork chop Definitely not an authentic asian place so if this is what you are looking for, look elsewhere

I would go 2.5, dead middle if I could. It’s interesting that people either love this place or find it surprisingly underwhelming. I was clearly of the latter bunch. We had the phở beef and the chicken sandwich. The phở was tasteless and I basically just dumped a bunch of hoisin and srirarcha in it to make it taste like something. The beef was ok. The chicken sandwich tasted just ok but had gristle in it. That’s kinda gross. Service was nice tho! And pretty quick. Nice bar. But overall the food, which I was so looking forward to, was just eh. You can get much much better viet food from Cyclo over on Vernon! Like incomparably better! Too bad too bc this place is much closer to my house ha.

I went here with a friend and I had a great time. The service and food were amazing! I accidentally ordered a drink that was too sweet and the waiter took it off the bill without me even asking! I will be back

So excited for this place to finally open. Lic has been in need of more options for a while. As i finally made it in I was pleasantly surprise on how friendly the staff was and happy hour that went from 3 – 7 on beers and select wine. I ordered the com suon nuong(grilled pork chop w/rice and fried egg). It was fantastic as i dug into it so fast i forgot to take a picture. There is always next time! Will definitely come back often and recommend anyone j the area to try!

Have been twice with coworkers and we enjoyed the polite and fast service. It’s not too savory but definitely hits the spot, and the Price Is Right ;) It’s sure to become a go to for me during fall/winter.

Stopped by on Friday after work for happy hour and a bite to eat. The pork buns were good and reasonably priced, and the shrimp spring rolls were tasty. The best part was the bar. Very nice ambiance. I had the saigon slammer and it was really delicious. Kalen was helpful in making it just how I liked it based on the ingredients described. We had a blast talking throughout the night. A good way to spend Friday evening. This place will do well once all the new development goes up!

My husband and I had dinner tonight here and it was great! The dim sum pork buns and steamed dumplings were awesome! We also had phở chicken and beef flavor soup and it was delicious. It wasn’t too salty and was very clean and simple. The ambiance was cozy, clean and they had good music. The waiter was very nice and on point with the service. They also have a bar and the crowd seemed nice. We feel the place is underrated are definitely going back soon!

Definitely try the steamed shrimp dumplings, and the curry soup is amazing! You can get it vegan, chicken or shrimp. It’s a bit spicy but I’m obsessed. The restaurant and bar is still starting out, so be aware that it’s not perfect yet, but the staff is cool and the ambience is nice. Not to mention it’s amazing Vietnamese food in LIC, so at least check it out and have a drink.

The food is Ok, but the portion size for a main lunch item is small, so you’d better also order an appetizer or some sides. So it’s pretty pricey to eat lunch here.

Definitely a let down, I live a few blocks away so when I heard a Vietnamese restaurant was opening close by I couldn’t wait to try it. I ordered the curry chicken noodle soup for $ 10, what came out was a big bowl of curry soup and 5 cut up pieces of chicken, vermicelli, 2 pieces of bok choi and 5 pieces of cut up potatoes. It felt like a very small portion of food compared to the size of bowl it came in. My girlfriend had the pork chop rice for $ 12. The rice was unbroken and just didn’t taste or appear to be recently cooked. The pork chop was seasoned well and tasted good. Both dishes could’ve used more vegetables to supplement, perhaps more of everything in the curry and more cabbage with the pork chop dish. Server and bar tender were both attentive Ambience and aesthetics were great Lots of potential for this restaurant. At this point based on the dishes I tried, I’ll give it a few months to work out the kinks before returning. The food was just unsatisfying.

I was really excited to try this restaurant for dinner because I live couple blocks away from it. The ambiance is nice and the space is well kept(it’s a new place). However, I was pretty disappointed with their service. We were sat as soon as we walked in but from there it started going down hill. Once the server gave us menus, he didn’t check back with us for at least 15 minutes. Part of it is because they just didn’t have enough people working on the floor(only 2) and they were running around back and forth. Once he took our orders, food came out in a pretty timely manner. We ordered pork chop and phở beef which were both okay but I had better Vietnamese food at other places before. Once we were done, it took us another 10 – 15 minutes to call the server to get our checks. If it wasn’t for the long wait in the middle, our experiences might have been better. They really need to hire more staff to get the job done.

Bia is amazing. The staff is awesome, feels like a good neighborhood bar. If you come a second time, you will be greeted by name. The bar is constantly making new cocktails and frequently giving out samples of their creation. Also their food is very solid. I recommend the original Bahn mi!

This place can do better, I wish it did due to how close it is to me/friends. Stumbled upon it(the outside chalk board said«Bushmills» and we thought it was an American bar not registered in Unilocal before before we came in.) One we came in, we stood around for ~5 awkward minutes, unsure if they had a hostess, before we were gestured to sit by the bar staff. We didn’t realize it was their first day opening for dinner. Ordered: beef phở, chicken curry, spring rolls, and the classic banh mi. Also got lollipop wings for free. More on that later. Beef phở — tasted okay! Just came out lukewarm which was a big letdown. Chicken curry — wish it had the option of Small/Large like the phos. The $ 10 portion just has too much curry/watery curry. It felt like an entire gallon of soup! Didn’t think the chicken or noodles were tasty. Classic banh mi — I enjoyed this the most, but the bread wasn’t fresh and I had to dip it in the curry just to be able to chew through. Contents were good, but maybe it’s bc mayo just tastes good. Spring rolls — $ 3 for 2 in Queens? Hmph. Service: just confusing. I ordered two entrees for myself bc I was starving, but somehow after 25 minutes, neither had arrived. 30 minutes after ordering, my friend’s phở had arrived, and a manager mentioned my sandwich just needed«a few more mins». When asked about the curry, he said he’d need to get back to me. 10 minutes later I’m asked«which curry?» You can imagine my frustration. I eventually received what I ordered. Note, while waiting ~45 min for our order, I noticed a party of 4 receiving a couple of dishes despite not ordering anything(I believe they must have been friends of the restaurant management) as well as 3(!) to go orders/pick-up. Unsure if they ordered before/after, but it was just disappointing to see so much food leave the kitchen and none of it going to hungry me. Venue: quaint with a feeling of gaudiness. A good casual vibe for friendly meetups and meals. SUMMARY Food quality: 2(below average) Service: 1.5(poor), bumped to a «3» because they included free lollipop wings and compensated the curry. Venue: 2.5(avg) I live very close(3 blocks) and there aren’t many good restaurant options, so I am willing to try again. My expectations, though, are very low.
