Got to love this place. Great food, great staff, friendly patrons and the music is awesome. Most patrons are Brazilian and are very friendly. They make you feel at home. Yay Beja Flor!

Cozy and tucked away in a corner of LIC I rarely visit! Décor — mainly the bar area, food and ambience felt authentic. Loved the Sirloin, which was priced reasonably for the portion, as well as the Chorizo which was crisped perfectly!

I love this place! I work in the area and this is by far the best dining experience I’ve had in LIC. My coworkers and I came in for lunch. The restaurant had a cool international vibe. I had a mango Caipirinha, which was nice and strong and delicious. For lunch I had a chicken and mushroom dish with mash and collard greens. Amazing. The food tasted soo good. I also got a flan to go which was amazing. I keep saying amazing because that’s how good everything was. I’m coming back here. Soon! P. S. I never give 5 stars, but I had to this time.

Beija was ok, almost four stars, but somehow not quite. It was quiet on the Sunday evening we went as a large group, I think we’d missed live music earlier on, and by the time we left(9:30pm) we were almost the last to leave. The food was fine, but nothing fabulous, and the dish I had(moqueca, a kind of fish stew) was $ 24. I can think of far better dishes in NYC at that price! The servers were friendly and we had a good time, so I feel mean giving them an average rating. But tho’ I’d happily give it another chance if my friends were going again, I don’t feel the love for the place and it wouldn’t be my choice.

I am almost afraid to write about this charming little place nestled in Long Island City, away from the hustle and bustle of Queens/Queensboro Plaza. It is near work, and friends and I come here at times for lunch to get away from the work craziness and have a decent sit-down meal, and the food here is wonderful. Beija Flor features a nice lunchtime menu, their Costelinha De Porco Assada(roasted pork ribs served with rice, beans and vinaigrette) is fantastic and my go-to dish. Their chicken in goulash-type sauce is tasty as well. The Caipirinhas must be mentioned as they are great; coming in flavors such as Mango, Guava, Cashew, and Passion Fruit. The best thing is that they are only $ 6 as the Happy Hour starts at 11AM! We have always had a good time at this restaurant. The dinner menu selections differ from the lunch specials, and are priced higher, but I would at some time like to come back for dinner to experience the menu, and the live band.

I’ve come here a couple times with my husband. Very nice Brazilian food good selection of appetizers and entrees. My husband always gets steak with yucca and we leave full and happy. Love the servers, they are always around in case you need anything! Our bill ends up being around $ 70 – 80 each time, pretty good for the amount of food we eat! Suggest you go try it out, especially if you’ve never had brazilian food!

Beija Floor gets five stars not only because the food was incredible, but also because they didnt kick my and my cousin out when we got into a screaming match in Spanish at our Grandmothers birthday dinner. Yes the restaurant wasn’t super full at our early dinner, but they were super gracious amid the flying insults, tears and drama that we brought to their establishment. I don’t want you to get the impression that we had this argument that the expense of other patrons. We were however, rude as F, and clearly embarrassed ourselves. The staff at Beija floor remained classy and were gracious throughout. I urge you to check out their delicious food. The shrimp dish was fantastic.

Once we walked in someone got us a table quickly. The staff is very sweet and always attentive. We had the Salmon with the sautéed veggies and broccoli risotto, it was delicious along with that I had a passion fruit caipirinha and the original one– loved it. Also had the grilled skirt steak with veggies and yucca mash– the yucca mash was odd and not the consistency were use to but it wasn’t horrible either. The dessert they recommended was the custard which we were going for but then I asked whats the Brazilian authentic one and they recommended the brigadeiro caseiro, I wish I would’ve stuck with the custard because that brigadeiro was nothing special to us, whip cream with chocolate sprinkles on top and all the way on the bottom a ton of straight fudge. Ambiance is nice and they have live music.

Live music, strong drinks and delicious food definitely as good as it gets! Skip the fried chicken chunks, was kind of dry and nothing special. The seafood stew was delicious, fresh seafood in a delicious broth. It came with a creamy cereal like thing, weird but tasty! The steak was perfectly cooked and came with little spices to make it extra yummy.

Beija Florrrrrr! After attending my first elite event here I know I had to return. The samplers were so great! So we cane here on a Sunday evening while I was on my way back to the city. The servers are Brazilian, so is the music… Just like the food! I had the skirt steak with fried Yucca on side and he has the pinanha. It came with a few sides and the pepper sauce was the perfect touch. The Passion fruit caipirinha was delicious. I’ll be returning very soon!

Went for dinner and drinks. Drinks were all excellent, especially the caipirinha’s. I had the grilled sausage appetizer which was great. The skirt steak and salmon are well prepared and have great taste. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here for a lunch date with co workers. My first time having Brazilian food and I had the steak and eggs with white rice. Total clean plate it was so delicious. I also had the Brazilian soda so good. I’m happy I was introduce to here. The décor was very nice and it’s a cool spot to hang. Definitely will be back

We live pretty close to this place and go there often. The food is always really good, delicious! Ordering from here is a pain though, it either takes too much time or they deliver something completely different. Also live music almost every time we went, day or night. Live music is good but the place becomes not speakeasy lol

Came here on a weekend for dinner and had no issues getting a seat. This restaurant is fairly tucked away so unless you were told about this place via word of mouth, you probably would have never visited this restaurant. Late at night they have live music and dance. I think that’s when the«locals» come out. From what I’ve heard, a lot of Brazilians visit this place. I chose to come here during the more«quiet» hours to really pay attention to detail of décor, food, and service. For appetizer we got the Isca de peixe(battered and fried stripped swai fish fillet). The appetizer was a generous portion. Could definitely be split amongst 4 people. The fish was lightly fried and each bite didn’t taste like a ball of oil. The actual fish meat itself wasn’t a lot. I think they could have combined a little more fish meat to balance out the ratio between batter and meat. Dish takes great with the complimentary lime. For main course we got the Moqueca de peixe com camarao(traditional brazilian seafood stew swai fish filet and shrimp in coconut milk and palm oil with onions, peppers and cilantro served with rice and brazilian fish gravy) & costela no bafo(oven roasted prime beef rib served with mashed yucca and sauteed collard greens) The seafood stew was amazing. I thought it tasted great! It had lots of ingredients in it and the soup base was delicious. At the end of the dish I was using the bread and dipping it into the broth. My only issue with the broth was that it was coconut milk heavy. They could dial it back to let the other spices and ingredients shine. The little spice/kick to it is needed. The choice of shrimp was fine. I just wish it wasn’t overcooked. It’s hard to gauge because most soup based dishes will tend to have their ingredients overcooked if left for too long. Despite some short comings, I would still highly recommend this dish. The prime beef rib looked monstrous when it first came out. Definitely a generous portion. The meat was very tender and it just came right off the bone without much effort. It was properly seasoned and if you have a dog at home, you can bring that gigantic bone home =D My issue with the dish is the mashed yucca. I think just slicing the yucca into wedges or something similar would better suit the dish. Yucca is extremely starchy and when you make it into a mash, it just becomes difficult to eat because it’s not like mashed potatoes where it easily comes off as «chunks». The mashed yucca sticks together so it’s not easy to take a «chunk» off. I liked how they made their collard greens. It tasted like it has some Asian influence. For drinks I got the cashew fruit juice. I had tried this juice at another place and it was sweet(not overly sweet). However, when I tried it here, it wasn’t sweet at all and to me, it tasted sour, somewhat alcoholic(because of the fermentation), tasted spoiled. I told the waiter that it tasted like there was alcohol in it and he was more than willing to replace the juice for me. In my mind, I thought it came in a can but I later found out that it came in a bottle. The 2nd glass that he poured from me was probably from the same bottle and of course it tasted exactly the same. I’m not from Brazil so perhaps I do not know what true cashew fruit juice should taste like so I told him to try it for himself because maybe the other place I tried it at prepared it differently and it was supposed to taste somewhat alcoholic. I don’t think he did, otherwise he would have known what I was talking about. I was definitely disappointed. I ended up not drinking it at all and he was kind enough to take it off the bill. The overall experience for this place was enjoyable except for the drink issue but I am glad that their service was top notch despite not being a premier restaurant that charges an arm and leg for a meal. Their décor is amazing. It was decorated by the owner’s mother. I would highly recommend this place.

My friends and I checked out Beija Flor in Long Island City, Queens because of 1) the overwhelmingly positive Unilocal reviews and 2) Beija Flor is the samba school that placed first this year for Carnaval 2015! I ordered the feijoada, which i couldn’t find on the menu. It cost 15 bucks and it was delicious. Well-portioned with succulent cuts of meat swimming in the black bean stew. Make sure you mix in some rice, yucca crumbles and the spicy sauce that is actually spicy. We ordered three caipirinhas for the table – strawberry, passionfruit and lime. I personally thought the lime was the best. My friend got an order of coxinha, which was pretty tasty, especially with the dipping sauce and we also got an order of steak, which came out sizzling on an iron pan. The meat itself was so succulent. YUM! Only regret is that we came for dinner way too early – live samba music on that Saturday night started around 9 pm, as we were getting ready to leave. All told, Beija Flor is worth the track to LIC, Queens. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating(I needed to charge my phone!) and the vibe is lively, but not unwieldy. Seating fills up fast especially later into the evening. Standby.
