Love this place. They are very helpful and nice at the front desk and the physician assistants are great! If at first glance the front desk staff seems standoffish, they will warm up to you. I’ve never gotten and attitude from anyone. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgable. Be sure to ask the right questions! Pros: by the train, parking, and there is a facility in the complex that takes blood (if needed for your treatment of course.) Cons: traffic, but that’s Astoria for you. Wait time may run a little long but it’s worth it!

I admit I didn’t see the doctor himself, so I cannot comment on his bedside manner. The girls at the front were just fine, I didn’t hear them speaking badly of any patients and they were most certainly not rude to me. The girl who asked me the basic questions once I was brought to the room was also very nice and the physician’s assistant who came in afterwards was friendly, competent, professional, and – oh…my.god… – extremely beautiful. «Wow, just wow.»
She asked me what medication I was currently taking for my issue and, when I didn’t remember, she told me to call the front desk when I got home and let them know, just so she can make sure. When I called, she was busy, so the front desk took down the name of my medication and my number, consulted with her, and called me back a little later.
Overall a good and, most importantly, QUICK experience. I was hardly there for twenty minutes.

This dermatologist has zero personality. And this extends out to his front desk staff. They are very unprofessional and rude girls. While you are sitting in the waiting room, you can cleary hear all the «bad talk» about the patients that call and how stupid they think we all are.
After a lengthy wait in the waiting room, once in the room, the Physician’s Assistant comes in to ask the preinterview questions and get a history and a reason for your visit. She was very nice and the one star on this review is for her.
When the Dr. comes in, there is no greeting.“Hello, I“m Dr. so and so” Nothing! Absolutely no manners and spends 5 minutes and answers all questions with general answers non –specific to any particular issue. «just use sunscreen, etc… WEll, which type is good for my skin, Dr… he is the Dermatologist, no?
Sometimes you forego a doctor’s personality because they are great at their job and can live without a good bedside manner, but here, this man has no professional or social skills.

amazing doctor! easy travel to get there last stop on the n or the q train, clean office tv, water, magazines, clean bathroom lovely staff, i became best friends with everyone on the receptionist team, they make sure i’m aware of all the free samples! takes about 10 minutes to be called in, they have cured my back acne chest acne, face acne, shoulder acne, even acne in the buttocks! i get compliments everywhere i go i had it for seven years and its easy to get my prescription, come in without an appointment! if you live in new york, don’t waste your money elsewhere and come here, and they take most insurance! you want that jlo glow! this is where it’s at!

I needed a skin biopsy so after a lot of research on the internet and word of mouth
I was convinced he was a good Doctor.
So I made an appointment with Dr. A. Nikolaides.
The girls at the front desk were busy, but they were helpful and courteous.
I was able to see the Dr. After 15 minutes of wait.
The Dr’s bedside manner was amazing! He explained everything to me.
He has a light hand, I didn’t feel the topical anesthesia shot, the punch cut on my skin, or the stitches.
They gave me directions for the after care of my wound.
My overall experience was excellent!
He was the third dermatologist I have seen for this biopsy, I saw one in Los Angeles an other in Las Vegas, but Dr. Nikolides made me feel at ease and I knew I was in good hands. He has the lowest price of per visit. His office visit charge was the lowest
Now I have a dermatologist I can trust.
I like to add that the location on my skin he took the biopsy from looks better then before, you know I am really happy about that.

I would love to give a review about the Dr but unfortunately you most likely will NOT get an appointment with him, but with his Pa’s who are VERYYYY NICE. BUT AS FOR HIS STAFF; the girls at the front desk are very unprofessional and rude I was sitting in the office and over heard them making rude jokes about patients who called in with «stupid questions». Makes you think do they make fun of every phone call they get? Id like to know how such an incompetent group of ladies can label anyone’s questions «stupid». I think they often forget that they are PAID to satisfy the patient; not be satisfied By the patient. They will talk to you with the most disrespect because they are «busy» we’ll maybe if patients no longer go there they can hopefully get a job at McDonald’s because that’s where these girls belong. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF. Do yourself a favor and DO NOTTTTTT go to this office. Save your self the headache of most likely arguing with the staff to get something done for you.

While I cannot complain about the medical attention my children received here. Unfortunately their billing is terrible. Despite numerous calls and visits to try to get them to bill me what was reflected on my insurance’s EOB, I was approached by them two years later saying I owed them money. I asked to speak directly with the doctor as I wanted to share my concerns directly but was stonewalled. He was unwilling to speak with me. I will never return as I need to know that they will bill correctly so that I can have my insurance cover the visits and it is too risky to go to someone with an inadequate billing department who is also totally unwilling to have a conversation to try to fix it.

Very fast and professional. I trust a doctor with longer hair. Smooth as snot on the biopsies. Great for your basic yearly. I’m sure he’s great for more complex procedures as well.

I’ve been to a handful of dermatologist in my life and I have to say that I always feel like none of my skin «problems» are ever big enough, or serious enough to piqué a dermatologist’s interest. Dr Nicolaides included. Since I don’t have much time on my hands, and it’s been several years since I’ve seen any dermatologist — I came in with a list of things that I wanted to cover. The following are things that were glossed over:
Sun spots, Ashy skin /​Eczema, Underarm cysts
I’m very glad I don’t have anything serious, don’t get me wrong. That being said, it doesn’t mean my symptoms are not bothersome to me. I was told the cysts are normal and if i REALLY wanted them removed, then I needed to schedule another visit. No cream samples given for eczema or dry skin. Told to «watch out for the sun». Glad I wasted my time.
Btw, while in the waiting room (which wasn’t a terribly long wait) — I listened to two receptionists talk sarcastically about every single person who called in and their «stupid» questions. Talk about mean girls… Made me feel like they most likely did the same thing when I first called in.
On the upside, I found a great greek pastry place located in the same open mall. Look for that review to follow!

The doctor is alright but the staff there is completely incompetent. They couldn’t care less about you as a patient. Which, unfortunately, is pretty typical of medical staff in the city.

After seeing 6 different DERMs, I came to him and he diagnosed me correctly. Something the other 6 could not do. I refer to him as the «God» of Derms in my book. His medication works. Lately I haven’t seen him but the Physician’s assistant. I must say I love her more. She is awesome. I truly believe in the skills of this office. Have I waited before, sure I have, but honestly the last 4 visits I was in and out.

I have your run of the mill mild acne, and it’s gone uncured. They wrote me off as just another young acne case, and did a sub-​par job of treating me. The lady I had was abrupt, a few notches away from rude, and unresponsive. I think Dr. Nicolaides thinks if he stacks his office with attractive women, I won’t notice that I didn’t actually ever see Dr. Nicolaides. I’ve seen pieces of Dr. Nicolaides, but never the man himself.
The front office is abysmal. Rude as can be – unimaginable, really, how people can get away with such attitude. I called in for a refill for a prescription and they didn’t give it to me because they have a self-​beneficial policy which states you have to go back when a few months elapses. I have a few spots of acne for goodness sake; give me the prescri — — oh, that’s right, I’m not going back to you anyway.
No credit cards for copays, which is a pain. Although, do go to that really fancy bakery downstairs after your appointment. Good cookies.

Great. I’m the Duchess of a dermatologist’s office.
But seriously– these folks are really nice (and really busy, as others have noted). Still, I called at 3am on a Monday trying to get an emergency visit, and they told me come down, they’d fit me in even though they were booked solid. I expected to wait forever, but it was 10 minutes tops. And then Dr. Nicolaides saved my life.
It sounds hyperbolic, but apparently it was a bad infection and I was heading for hospital time. He was kind, thorough, helpful, and warned me about realistic expectations. Had me come back in several times to check progress and retreat. After a particularly painful treatment, they insisted I take a car service home, and called one for me. Then waited with me downstairs until it came.
I’m an out of pocket patient too, so no extras to bill to the insurance company as an incentive. Just good treatment and diligent practices.
Couldn’t ask for any more professionalism or human kindness from the doctor or his staff.
For those who complain that you’re not seen NOW, get out your pacifier and wait. He’s probably busy tending to medical needs in the back instead of working on your instant gratification complaints. Deal.

The doctor himself is great, the office is clean, the wait is usually not too long, but don’t ever let his PA perform any involved procedures on you. I think her name was Estrafa. I had a small leision which she attempted to get rid of, and applied an acid peel to the area making it twice as large. I was left with a bad scar, and would have been better if she never treated it in the first place. She obviously didn’t know what she was doing. I reccomend asking specifically for him for if you are going to have any procedures done in the office. As far as I am concerned he gets 5 stars. His PA (at the time) gets none !

Dr. Nicolaides is fabulous! I have gone to him in the past few years to have moles removed and some skin tags. I have found him to be thorough, friendly and knowledgable. He has never left a mark on my scar prone skin when anything has been removed.
He removed a small cyst on my face a few years ago. The second day after the visit, my face started to swell. I called and he told me to come in immediately. I told him no appts were available, he said come anyway, I’ll see you and he did. I had no idea I was allergic to bacitracin but he knew right away. Dr. Nicolaides told me that it does happen and gave me a big tube of a cream that he said I should always have in the house for myself and what products to never use on my skin because they contain bacitracin.
My husband went to him a few months back and was very happy with him.
I didn’t give five stars because the office is a bit disorganized and you do sometimes have to wait a long time.

This is now my former dermatologist.
I went here for a while because my doctor recommended him (mostly because of location). I went a few times for skin checks and always had to wait at least an hour after my appointment time to finally see him. My appointments usually lasted about 10 minutes, at the very most, so having to wait that long is a little infuriating.
His assistants are all very nice, but his attitude is less then appealing. During an annual skin check I had my foot wrapped because of an injury and he gave me such a hard time about it, for really no reason at all. I’ve since found an amazing dermatologist in the city who treats me like a patient and not #245 on their daily roster.

Have visited Dr Nicholaides’ office a month ago with concers about my birth marks. He appeared quite knowledgeable and proffesional…
However, they did not bother to send the skin specimen for analysis to my in network lab… and I have gotten this huge bill for lab services.
When I called to ask why did this happen, receptionist told me that it is not their business to check what is my in netwrok lab (they did have my insurance information).
Receptionist just did not care and gave me the attitude like there is a bill for your skin analysis and you have to pay it.
It is unfortunate that they would not put your interest first .but their own and relationship with their chosen labs.
will not go back…

This isn’t a review about the doctor’s performance but on his staff.
I had an appointment schedule for a wednesday afternoon. That same wednesday it was heavily raining and the receptionist called me to re-​schedule the appointment due to a flood in their office.
I called the following afternoon to reconfirm the appointment.
The receptionist couldn’t find my rescheduled appointment date, and also claimed that no one from their office called to cancel my appointment that day. She said that all their patients showed up and I was a no-​show.
Not only was the receptionist very rude, but insisted that no one called from their office. When I questioned how can something like this happen, she was very rude and gave me a huge attitude.
I dont want to go to a doctor whose staff/​office is very rude and disorganized. If they can mix up appointments and doesnt remember that they cancelled my appointment, who knows what else they can screw up… blood tests? prescriptions?
The office should represent the doctor, and I believe his receptionists are very poorly trained in customer service and has no clue. After speaking with a few people who are clients of his, they do have the same complaints. The staff are rude and lacks customer service skills. There should be a few changes in that office… like his staff

I am new pacient of Dr Nicolaides and I am happy with treatment I have big problem on my hands and he give to me the medicine I need and now I am very happy I love the care I have received from him. I will go back soon

Went to see him for skin discoloration.
Pro: doctor is knowledgeable, clean establishment
Con: it’s a fairly busy practice, so my session was constantly interupted by the front desk asking him questions. This might not be an issue with some, but I paid out of pocket, so I would like to have his undivided attention.
