Been coming to Long Branch for two years and walked past Avenue we were going to Sirena’s when I noticed their Prix Fixe menu. We decided to try it on a beautiful night sitting outside. Appetizers shrimp cocktail, escargot and Mac and cheese. Our server Holly was great and attentive. She recommended the beef bourguignon over pappardelle. We noticed Brussels sprouts on another table. Got an order. They tasted as good as they looked. The desserts were mango panniCota and pot de crème. The pot de crème was decadent. A very pleasurable experience. Great meal, much better than their overpriced neighbors and great service.

The food was fine, I would actually go as far as to say it was pretty good, although I’ve had much better in various places in New York, Philadelphia and Florida. The place looked nice, the ocean view was pleasant. We had a lovely lunch with a group of girlfriends. However, felt very uncomfortable when our waiter practically shouted at us for miscalculating the tip and not paying at least 30% tip for a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. Would be more than happy to pay more, and I believe this was somehow settled by the person who made the reservation. But the attitude was horrible. I have never seen anything like it. I would be hesitant to go back for this reason. There are a lot more nicer ways to convey the same message.

Horrible day club. I was denied entry due to attire.(Designer sweat shorts, Vince t shirt) head of security explained to me that they do not allow basketball shorts, jean shorts, cargo shorts only swimming attire. I offer to speak to a manager. Door man said he was the manager and there was no one else to speak with. After a few minutes of waiting someone walked out he told him I would buy a table. They took my info and allowed me to get in. As I walked in and attempted to speak with the gentlemen that now has my ID and credit card he was very short with me and gave me one word answers, as I asked about the club and acts they book. Only reason why I’m here is to scout out Monday day parties for my artist over the summer. See the traffic, and venues to see if their a demand for jersey day club pool parties. My scouting cost me $ 487 just to check out the club. I would end this review with I look forward to making that money back with this venue with our future business but that is not going to happen. As I sit and observe the party… I see several men wearing Jean shorts, Cargo shorts, basketball & sweat shorts(one man wearing the same brand as mine) not to mention one of the gentlemen I was meeting with here is actually wearing basketball shorts. Besides the sun and the nice beach breeze you’re better off getting a margarita across the way and walking the beach while enjoying the sound bleed from this event. If they actually have decent talent spinning.

I usually find that Unilocal is reliable for gauging restaurants, but it seems to me that while reading through the posted reviews for The Avenue, that people were talking about two completely different restaurants. I have only been to The Avenue 3 times, all within the past 7 months, but each time my experience was exemplary. The ambiance and building are stunning, the service courteous and efficient, and the food wonderful. Literally EVERYTHING I’ve ordered has been delicious, from the ginger-apple martini to start through to the profiteroles and coffee to end. The ONLY reason this is not a 5-star review, is because I believe their pricing, which overall leans towards the expensive, pushes over to ludicrous on certain items and food categories; most notably the non-alcoholic beverages and side dishes… Looking forward to my next meal at The Avenue.

Returned to Avenue after a very long time. It is a very attractive venue but the dinner was not great. My husband ordered his usual — escargot and steak frites. Escargot was bland almost tasteless. The salad that accompanied his steak was all over the steak so the dressing was all over the steak — his steak was now lemony. My Moules — mussels were undercooked and the frisée in my beet salad was old and slimy, tough woody fennel and 3 dabs of goat cheese. The food was not hot and the couple next to us also told their server their fish was not hot. Too long of a slow walk from kitchen to patron? Dishes need covers! Best part of the meal was the fries! Two drinks, two appetizers and 2 enters $ 109.00. Will think twice about returning. You can’t eat ambiance or décor!

Went last weekend with my husband for a last minute late dinner. Food wasn’t terrible, but not great. The place was empty yet we were practically sitting on top of the people next to us. Service not so great. Waitress was too busy fixing up her other tables to come and check in with us. Probably would not go back.

Just called and spoke to a girl who I believe said her name was Tara. I’ve never been here before but some friends wanted to go down tonight and I called to inquire about the dress code. This girl was extremely rude on the phone, very brief, and it seemed like my simple question caused her more of a headache than anticipated. She gave me a very misguided answer, and I’m still not sure of the dress code after speaking with her. Based on her attitude and inability to deal with customers in a professional and friendly manner, I will not be attending this location today, or any other day

Awful! The hostess was rude. The manager was arrogant. We had a 7:00 reservation for 2 people and at 7:15 we we still not seated. There was at least 5 four-tops open. But they would not seat us. The manager told us if we didn’t like it we should just leave. So we did! Will never go back. They even called during the day to confirm the reservation. Honor the reservation! Sure, this behavior will be tolerated by many during the summer. But winter and the off season scones very quickly.

This spot did not wow us in any way. Pretty sure most of the staff is seasonal expats. Few of them appeared to speak English fluently. We didn’t eat their seafood, but the raw platter(other tables had ordered) looked delicious. Unfortunately, we had the chicken club and lamb sandwich. The lamb was shredded. It was covered in Harissa sauce, which we were told was a green sauce. This was not accurate. The shredded lamb was more like a sloppy joe. The chicken was ok. They toast the outside of the bread, which is backwards, so the bread was soggy from the inside. The chicken included a salad and the lamb had French fries. The fries were actually really good. I wish they asked us if we wanted the salad,(neither were listed in the menu) as fries would have been preferred. Two highlights: The beer was good. Local NJ craft, cold, clean taps. The bathrooms are clean and relatively empty. Public bathrooms in this area all have long lines. This alone make Avenue worth the visit! Oddly, we were asked to leave our«beach gear» outside in the public walkway, leaning against a fence. I had a carabiner to secure my goods to the fence, but I was uncomfortable that my belongings were out in the open.

Excellent service and food at the restaurant week. We had escargot oh my God it was amazing drenched in butter toasty hot. And the octopus salad was great it had bean oranges parsley tomatoes and of course the octopus.

The good… location is beautiful, right on the boardwalk. That’s where the good ends. The food is ok but pricey. Its the service that really takes the cake here. I’ve never witnessed such a snotty staff(from the hostess, to the bartenders, to the waiters).

We went here as a family(5 of us), after spending a day at the beach. Having only had a sandwich for lunch, a bag of chips and tons of water, I was really looking forward to a nice meal. I was fully satisfied. First, we were given a seat on the outside overlooking the beach. That was a plus, especially since I had kids, the place was crowded and there were a ton of guests who I could hear asking for an outdoor table. The service was ok. Nothing amazing, just ok. The food was good. We were happy. The price point is what is expected. I am fan because of the location and outdoor table. If the food and service were someplace else, my review may have been lower.

Came here on a date night. Must say place was spotless. Very clean. And very friendly. Had a drink at the bar which was large and fully stocked. The seats are far enough apart that you don’t share knowledge with everyone. The food was delicious. I actually tried escargot and love it. Only issue is bathroom is on second floor. But that’s the only gripe I had. And there is an elevator to it anyway. But I loved it. Very good ambiance and a great night.

Avenue was my first experience with fine dining when I came for a special New Years date. The tickets were quite expensive, but the food did not disappoint! The ambiance of the building is incredible. Even better than most restaurants that exceed Avenue in price. The design of the building alone is enough to justify a single dinner here. The views of the ocean are lovely. My favorite thing on the menu is the Spanish Octopus, it is one of the best I have ever had. However, on another occasion during regular dining hours I ordered the Spanish octopus and the portion was quite small. This was a disappointment and an inconsistency. The wait staff is exceptional and extremely attentive. However, if you do not like waiters constantly refilling your water and always being within earshot, you may feel uncomfortable at times. Although I personally I felt the staff was very professional and skilled. I also have been to Avenue for brunch, it was decent, but I felt it was lacking compared to their dinner services in almost every way. Overall, it is definitely a must try for Jersey Shore fine dining.

Have been here many times and dealt with alot of snotty bartenders and waitstaff and a host of ridiculous nit-picking«rules» they have. Today took the cake. There were exactly 6 people at the bar, I ordered a drink from their specialty cocktail menu. Just before the bartender poured it I noticed him pull out a martini glass. I said before you pour that, would you mind putting it into a rocks glass?(i hate martini glasses, they are too dainty for me and I’ve been known to knock them over because they are top heavy and I’m clumsy.) Anyway he actually said«no we cannot change our glasses or any ingredients from the menu». Are you frigging kidding me? Obviously he was kidding right? Nope he was serious. That’s absurd! After I told him how ridiculous that was he said I can give you a glass and you can pour it in yourself,! Even more absurd! Either follow your own stupid rules or don’t, but don’t have me pour the drink from one glass to another. Over the summer I asked to substitute rum for vodka in one of the specialty drinks and was told no for the same reason. I didn’t go back for 7 months because of that, and now I will never go back again. Oh and I should add that if the bartenders were at least polite and apologetic I wouldn’t care but they aren’t, they are arrogant and obnoxious and try and make you feel stupid for even asking for a change. Give the customer what they want and stop all the uptight nonsense.

The atmosphere here is unlike most restaurants. You can sit by the ocean that they light up at night and eat very fresh seafood and french cuisine. They have one of the best servers named Misha, she is amazing! The oysters are unbelievable!

Disappointed in the dinner at Avenue last night. Brioche on lobster rolls terribly stale. Steak was cooked properly, but seasoned poorly. Dover Sole was delicious, although the green medley it came with was under seasoned and undercooked. Some of the staff were obsessed with the one television that distracts you at the bar.

My wife’s birthday party was a huge success and I do mean all 40 people had a good time. The food was excellent. The view impeccable. The wait staff accommodating and efficient. All the special requests, like veggie meals, our flowers, cake and balloons were handled well and with enjoyment. Most people there, inquired about retuning privately after commenting on how delicious the food was.

Have eaten here twice for Sunday brunch and enjoyed it both times — it’s 4 stars for me, but I’d say my wife and son would be more like 3.5 stars, but it’s my review so 4 it is, lol. Hard to beat the setting, right on the beach and I love restaurants with dramatic, high ceilings(these must be 25′ high). First time was for our anniversary, back in March and 2nd time was this past Sunday. First time I had scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and country toast — sounds simple, right? Yeah, but every item was perfect. And the mac and cheese app was great. Second time I had the mussels in white wine/lemon/butter, with their fries and that was very good, although not as good as the Avenue breakfast. However, the shrimp cocktail app was perfectly flavored and the shrimp were, uhhhh, huge. My wife had the burger first time, which was really good and the croque monsieur, the 2nd time, which was equally good. My son had the Avenue breakfast the one time he was there. Like I said, they’d probably be 3.5 stars. The staff are attentive, but a little too stiff, IMO, and were fairly slow the 2nd time(they actually took our very slow-to-arrive dessert off the bill — was the apple tart, which was decent, but not great). I see lots of horrible reviews — I’m guessing this is a much better place to go for brunch in the off season, when I assume it’s a lot less crowded. We’ll be going back.

We had the most amazing engagement brunch party at Avenue thanks to Chris and Nancy, the event planners. They were so helpful and accommodating and answered all our questions. The day of the party both were present and made sure everything went smoothly. I can’t thank them enough! Our tables looked beautiful and it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. All of our guests loved the food and the desserts. Thanks Avenue it was the best day ever!

mixed review here. While the service staff was excellent, the view and outdoor table among the best of the NJ shore, the food was so lacking in flavor that I would not return. I ordered an Absolute and tonic w/lime. The first drink I was served was vodka and club with lemon… the second tasted a bit different but I thought it was from the tonic, one I may not have been used to. Started out with a good beet salad and octopus salad. The Octopus salad($ 12) had tiny pieces of octopus with uncooked, grainy white beans. The vinaigrette was very good but marred by the awful inedible white beans. I should have sent it back, but the view was so beautiful I did not think of that! We followed that with 2 lobster rolls. The brioche bun(Stale or day old) was cut through so I had to use a knife and fork to eat the sandwich. The lobster was absolutely tasteless-as in no flavor at all, no salt, no pepper, nada. Just chunks of stuff in a light white sauce. The salad served with the sandwich was very good. We passed on dessert. Upon receiving the check, I found out why my drink tasted weird, I was served Stoli. Would not go again.

Hair in food, and food got us all sick after! My family and I had dinner while spending the day at Long Branch August 22, 2015 for my mother’s birthday. Great view, upscale ambiance. Jessica was our server and she was friendly, great taking orders and making recommendations. We ordered drinks, seafood tower with half a dozen oysters and king crab legs and 5 fixed prixe dinners. For appetizers, I ordered escargot and out came overcooked, crunchy and dry escargot in a flavorless butter garlic rammekin. Seriously the worst escargot I’ve ever eaten. Other family members ordered the shrimp cocktail– bit tough and over cooked. Entrée time, I had the mussels which tasted a bit chewy, mom had the organic salmon and was not a fan of the petit pois side. Father, brother and sister all ordered steak and commented how it was cooked at their preferred temperature but upon eating our meal, my sister found a CLUMPOFHAIR in her food and immediately called our waitress Jessica to take the plate away while she RAN to the bathroom to vomit. Jessica apologized profusely and took the plate away. She later returned saying her manager cannot take the meal off the bill because it’s fixed price and cannot offer dessert since it’s already included but has offered us dinner drinks. We were shocked and quite appalled the manager did not come check on the situation himself. A customer should not have to ASK to speak to a manager who is already aware of the situation that the restaurant is sending out hair in the food, a good manager automatically comes in to handle the situation. Shocked her manager did not choose to handle the situation, we asked Jessica to bring her manager out. Out came Marcello, who acted so nonchalant and could not understand what is wrong. Instead of apologizing or showing any accountability whatsoever as a manager on duty, he made excuses, «I did not personally cook that food»…“There’s no way I can control the kitchen staff”. AREYOUKIDDINGME?! A Good manager would have come over himself to check on customers rather than throw the server to the wolves. Ever hear of a manager who can’t control his kitchen? What kind of response is that?! Tell the head chef, kitchen staff should maybe go over the health code and prevent this kind of situation from happening. No, Marcello the manager just showed horrible managerial skills, nonchalant demeanor and could care less. Insisting on drinks for the table, my father doesn’t drink and my sister responded, «I just vomited my meal, why would you offer me alcohol?» Marcello tried to joke, «well alcohol kills all germs» and said he would take her $ 30 fixed meal off the bill. We explained it’s not the money(like he’s really doing any favors); it’s the principal of how a manager handles the good and the bad in a restaurant and Marcello is a pretty bad example of a manager. Jessica came out and asked if she should bring out the dessert and we told her, no thank you, we wanted our check and nothing personal against her, she was a great waitress, but her manager should have handled the situation better rather than throwing his staff into the fire and to that she agreed. Shortly after, we all fell sick and undoubtedbly from the poorly handled and prepared food at Avenue. You could not pay me to eat or drink here no matter how cheap or expensive the menu, Avoid!

One time experience. I’m done. It’s summer time, and who doesn’t like the idea of partying on the beach? When I heard about my friend’s plan to have a birthday party at this beach club in Pier Village, I was ecstatic! It just sounds very fun to wear bikinis, tan, drink, and party on the beach, but it was nothing what I was expecting when I arrived to the party. Thinking that we arrived kind of late around 1:30pm(because the birthday girl and friends arrived around 11am), we were expecting the club to be popping, but it was not. People were scattered all over, but it cannot nearly called lively or energizing. Therefore, we decided to get brunch at the Avenue Nuit and come back. Afterwards, more people began to walk in, but I realized that it was not a scene that I enjoyed. Many people’s wardrobe were beach appropriate while others were club appropriate. I simply wore a bikini with a loose tank over it and flip flops, which I later took off, but I saw people strolling in with tight clubbing dresses or bikinis and a 5-in wedge heels, which they ended up struggling to remove at the entrance because the club was literally on the beach aka on sand, which is obviously very difficult to walk on with wedges. Unorganized. Trashy. And just plain messy. Usually, as for girls, we don’t pay covers to get into clubs, but the cover was $ 20. For the most part(first half of the day), the music was all beats. The drinks were expensive, which is not a big deal or even a surprise, because honestly where isn’t is the question. At the end of the day, I think it’s a cool concept to have a club on the beach, but the service, the ambiance, social media team for the dress code, and the layout of the club definitely need some revamping and improvements.

Great environment! Went on a Monday later afternoon when it was quiet and the manager kindly accommodated us by seating us at a separate table since our group was too big for the booths and we wanted to enjoy the happy hour specials. I know this is something they probably don’t usually do so we were very grateful for that! The server on the other hand was terrible. We wanted the happy hour specials(which honestly were just okay — sliders were over cooked and the chorizo and octopus was literally just chorizo and octopus, not as tasty as it sounds), but after that we wanted a meal and our server told us she couldn’t give us the regular menu since we had the bar menu… I’m no restaurant genius/expert but common sense tells me that if I wanted a generous tip I would have simply given the customer a regular menu to increase the bill and from that the tip. I mean honestly turn your fucking brain on! If the manager only knew that she turned down eight entrees I’m sure she would have been fired on the spot. That’s just my two cents… Nevertheless, I know Avenue doesn’t serve dinner until a certain hour and bar specials are at the«bar only» but at that point the manager had already accommodated us for the bar specials and we just wanted something more substantial food wise — we wanted dinner. I know it might not have been 4:30 on the spot(4:20 to be exact), but by the time we would have looked at the menu and ordered another round of drinks it would have been close to 5. Reflecting back the timing wasn’t even the issue, it was because we were not sitting at the right table, which if that is the case you should have offered to move us, or given how quiet the restaurant was, simply overlook it. Again, just my two cents. Aside from the ehhh service there was a party upstairs which is a new thing Avenue does on Mondays which is totally fine, but as far as the element of people, let’s just say I didn’t see any locals. Again fine, but it was a rowdy and aggressive crowd for a Monday just as a precaution. Or FYI in case you want some entertainment. Overall the restaurant itself is beautiful. I’ve definitely have had better service here, maybe Monday was an off-day, or the server was having a bad day — who knows. Anyhow, it’s definitely worth stopping in for a drink(Le Bungalow would be my recommendation) but I much rather go to McLoons or Serena after today.

Our food was spectacular! Really nicely prepaired and the portion was so filling! We had a chicken bacon sandwich and an omelette with mushrooms. Prices are ok and the view to the sea and beach is great! But one part was really disturbing: When we asked for the restroom the manager was so unfriendly and told us to use the public one, probably because we were wearing beach clothes ?! Didn’t like that!

I have eaten here over a dozen times. The outdoor seating overlooking the beach is wonderful. The $ 303 course dinner before 6(and all night Tuesday) is a tremendous bargain, with lots of options for each course. The wine list is encyclopedic and has a lot of reasonably priced options. The inside is extremely attractive and the many happy hour specials draw a big crowd. Cover your bathing suits with something simple – and I have seen people seated in their bathing suits. The service is extremely attentive and professional.

This place was just for looks. Great location. On the Jersey Beach. Beautiful people. All the maitre D’s were stunning but they all looked alike… The food is … Just ok?! I mean I am certain that they have a menu that is worthy of greater reviews but the menu for the large party was basic. Beautiful, but nothing to brag about. The Bibb lettuce salad was delicious. Delicately balanced with a lite vinegarette and dressed with a sliced selection of green beans on the side. The highlight was the viewing of the regular menu which consisted of mussels and a desirable selection of a raw bar with oyster, crab, clams or shrimp cocktail. So this is what sold me and expanded my understanding of what goes on in the kitchen. There are sometimes items on a menu that develop an understanding that the ingredients and recipes that are used at this location are primo. I may not ever make it out this way again. I live in Atlanta and I am here visiting for a wedding– but should I come out this way again, I will be bringing more stars to my review status on Unilocal for this restaurant.

I had reservations at Mcloones down the boardwalk however we stopped in for a few cocktails before Dinner. The place is Gorgeous, Tastefully Modern. This was a Multi Million Dollar Build which explains the prices. It is Quite a Scene, Beautiful Scenery both inside and out. They have a handful of lounging chairs outside on the deck with an outstanding view of the ocean. Inside the Restaurant is quite large. The Bar is beautiful ultra Modern. Drinks are well made but quite pricey, 4 drinks was $ 45 I noticed a $ 30 Pre fixe before 6pm I may let that be my first eating experience there. Highly recommended for cocktails with the view.

Came to Avenue for the first time with a friend who has been many times before. We decided to sit at the bar for happy hour(Tuesday Eve around 5:30 pm) and had the Chardonnay. The special is $ 6.00 for Chardonnay and Cabernet. The Chardonnay was really really nice. We also decided to go for the $ 30.00 pre fix menu and split it between the two of us. We had: Shrimp cocktail,(6)(to start) Trout(entrée) Sorbet(dessert)(blueberry, mango, peach trio with fresh fruit) ** portions very generous We also took advantage of the $ 1.80 oysters and .95 cent clams to start(we did 6 of each) Really tasty! Very friendly bartender and servers and beautiful space overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The music was a little repetitive and monotone but other than that I loved it. Will definitely come back.
