Slow service — 5 minutes before any attention after being seated, and it’s not a busy night. Waitress kind, but disappeared after bringing our food, guess I wont order more beer — sad. Instead of dessert, waited 10 minutes with empty plates and glasses. Kinda pissed so I just asked for the check and left. I want this place to work, but it looks like it has the curse of The Factory down the street…

I ate at the bar for two hours drowning myself with soda and garlic fries while watching my Patriots getting dethroned by the stupid Denver Broncos. As Tom Brady made one incomplete pass after another, it was only logical for me to eat my sorrow away. My meal of choice was the Kobe beef burger with garlic fries($ 12.95). The burger also came with two toppings and your choice of bun. Having had real Japanese waygu Kobe beef before, it’s almost an insult to put the word kobe next to american. Because here at Weiland Brewery, their kobe beef burgers are made with American Kobe beef. The kobe beef is only slightly more tender than the regular beef patties. That being said, the burger meal here is not too shabby. It’s appetizing and inexpensive. The garlic fries are the real gem of the meal though, they are addicting like no other. The garlic is fresh here and pack a strong flavor too. No comment on the beer selection though because I am not an alcoholic drinker. The bartenders here really do know their stuff, based off the interactions I overheard between fellow bar patrons and the bartender. I expected there to be a big screen television here but there wasn’t. There were only multiple medium size televisions. If you are looking for a place with a giant crystal television to watch the Big Game or MLB playoffs, this is likely not your place. This restaurant is more well-suited for a group of close friends to get together and converse over beer and food.

BEST food and bar, and it’s in Beautiful Bixby Knolls. They make their own potato chips. And, the garlic fries are better than Dodger Stadium. Their meatloaf is sliced then grilled and slathered with a gravy that you cannot guess what’s in it, everybody tries. Fabulous seafood, their Pulled Pork Sandwich is crispy, just like pulled pork should be. Great staff and a full bar, like a WAY full bar. I keep going back. Everybody’s there!

Ugh!!! What a bummer!!! Area desperately needs a decent place to eat, and was so excited Weiland Brewery was coming in, but TOTALFAIL on the food!!! Actually, was my second time in… first was when they just opened(blah food!, but nice guy bartender, so I definitely gave them some time to work out the kinks… but I think food was even worse the second time around!!!) Went in with a total open mind… Really wanted to be open to them, so asked the bartender what their recommendations were based on my food preferences… She was sweet, BTW, the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1, but the food was seriously ATROCIOUS!!! I got a burger, really, how hard is that!!! It was one of the worst burgers I ever had, EVER!!! The meat was sooo dried out, not juicy at all, and honestly I think may have been kept at the wrong temp. before cooking because I actually got physically sick once I got home!!! The supposed«brioche» bun was a joke!!! By far the most stale, dry, gross bun I have ever had on anything, ever!!! Greens served were totally wrong for the flavor concept, and the room temp. ketchup and yellow mustard out of the squeeze bottles were semi-rancid… Oh yeah, btw, had to use the ketchup and mustard because the burger came so bone f-ing dry!!! They couldn’t even butter the damn bun before serving it!!! The«garlic» fries, which were actually the main reason I came here, came out cold, starchy, and lack-luster… except for the like 5 pieces on top that actually had the garlic on them which was pretty good(yet still cold). The whole rest of the batch should have been thrown out!!! They were cold, bland, and starchy/mealy. Overall, every single thing on my plate was disgustingly bland, to the point of me having to add all of their horrible sauces, etc., and the kitchen couldn’t even get their«Ranch» dressing right! Spent the next 3 hours in the bathroom!!! OMG, so sad because I love good beer, and really want a good neighborhood place!!! But, never, ever, eating here again!!! I know the area kinda sucks, but hope the staff either finds a way to get the owner to wake up about how truly awful this chef is, or I’m going to be looking forward to any other possible food option that opens up around here… BTW, $ 15+ for a really, really, bad plain burger is beyond ridiculous!!! And this is coming from someone who has HAPPILY paid over $ 600.00 for one meal(not including wine pairings), per person, at a good restaurant.

This is a great new place in this part of Long Beach. We starve for good eating joints in this part of town. A very positive addition for the neighborhood. Great beers on tap with respectful wine list. Full bar with high end booze. Definitely a go to place!

Great service, fresh food, cold Sculpin on tap. I’m so happy I stopped here, as is my woman. We love this place. We highly recommend it for a great time.

Location: Weiland is in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach on Atlantic which is pretty main thoroughfare through the area. It’s very close to one of our favs(Bake and Broil). Parking is street parking only I think. There was a small lot in the back of the building but we were unable to figure out if that was public parking or not. There was plenty of street parking though and not metered. Woohoo! Service: The service was pretty on point, but they also were not busy at all. We were seated immediately and a waitress came over to take our drink orders within the first few minutes. When we ordered, our food came out within 5 minutes. We never had to ask for water refills which is always a plus for me. I personally hate running out of water. So no complaints in this area. Food: I know this is a brewery and def had more of a bar type feel, but the food(and drink) was just well, okay. My husband ordered the weiland hef — his exact words were«pretty wheaty, but gets bland as I drink it». All in all, not his fav beer. He ordered the mac and cheese with pork chili verde as his entrée — its actually under appetizers, but we were both pleasantly surprised with the size of it when it came out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really mac and cheese. We both agreed that it was more of an alfredo type sauce — white, creamy and a little cheesy with with penne rather than elbow mac. It was okay, but again, not what was advertised. We also though it would have been much better if it had been oven baked with a crispy, cheesy topping, but thats just us. I ordered a chicken sandwich on sourdough with grilled onions/avocado(two topping per sandwich are«free» and each additional is $ 1) with regular fries. Again, not the worst sandwich in the world, but also not the best. It did have a little too much butter on the outside of the bread(for toasting) for my taste. Every time I picked it up my fingers were definitely greasy. Overall: It’s okay. Dont know how else to describe. Good service, okay food. Could work on the ambiance a little — its its like half café half sports bar with a wall in-between. Maybe it looks better during the day with the«garage» doors open with the outdoor seating? I dunno. We probably won’t be making a huge effort to come back.

After paint nite from a nearby El Torito, a few of my friends and I made our way to this joint to keep the conversation going. The funny thing is, we all pretty much ordered a burger with fries. Seems so simple but they did the burger and fries justice. The burger was cooked perfectly and the garlic fries were amazing. On top of this, it was priced just right so both my wallet and my stomach were content. Love the fact that it’s open late, especially since everything else around that area closes early.

Been here a couple of times now, and I’m definitely gonna keep coming back. It is a solid 4 stars because it has a good selection of beers and food of 4 star quality. There are TVs scattered all around, but mainly at the bar. It has mostly a sports bar/brewery type feel to it. (^) = thumbs up;(v) = thumbs down (^) Beer Selection– They have a good variety of beers. I’m an IPA fan, but they have enough beers that you’ll find one you like. Downside, other than their hefeweizen, I’m not a big fan of their own brews, but they have a good selection nonetheless. Also, they aren’t overpriced. (^) Garlic Fries– very good. Lots of fresh garlic used which is not what I was expecting, but exactly what I was hoping for. They can be a bit greasy in my opinion, but that just adds to the deliciousness. (^) Sliders– because I knew I was getting some beers and fries I didn’t want to get a whole hunkin’ burger, so I got their sliders with my fingers crossed since I’m not the biggest fan of sliders. They did not disappoint. They were flavorful and juicy, whereas other sliders I’ve had tend to be dry and bland. Nice thing too, is that the regular fries that come with the sliders can be subbed for the garlic fries. If it’s a nice warm, sunny day out, they sometimes open the large window/garage door to the patio which creates a great relaxing yet lively atmosphere. Wish they would do this a bit more!

LOVE it! We went in and there were only 2 tables occupied, so we weren’t sure it was going to be good… glad we stayed! EXCELLENT service, Beer and Food! We had the Korean tacos(spicy with sauce but good!) and kettle chips(yum). My bf had the Crab cake sandwich, and I had the seared ahi burger. LOVE the ahi! He had the pale ale, and it was really good. We will definitely come again.

Bixby knolls definitely needed this kind of restaurant. Its a large relaxed sports bar with roll up garage doors. Bright, and a decent size beer menu. Recently started doing tap take overs which is very cool to see. One downside is the lack of lunch specials. usually just has 1 item for the lunch special. prices arent too bad. Taster Flight of beers for 7 $. 35OZ beers of your choice. Great service. little slow but extremely nice people.

Came here with friends to start our night with some drinks. Great experience! Moscow Mule(4 stars) Definitely one of the better ones I’ve had. Lacking in the ginger beer, which I prefer in generous amounts, but still a great drink. I love that they serve it properly in the copper cup with the typical garnishes. VERY refreshing. I’d order it again! Garlic Fries(4 stars) Perfect cut-size fries and the garlic flavor was great. Present, but not overpowering. I kept reaching for them. Service(5 stars) everyone is so friendly and fun. They’re attentive and really patient and accommodating. Also they have a great sense of humor. Didn’t get to try much but I’ll definitely be back for more!

Bixby Knolls was in need of a place like Weiland’s. It’s a laid back sports bar with a simple food menu that won’t blow you away with its creativity but will give you a very filling meal at a reasonable price. Their house beers are great but I really recommend the Modern Times Aurora IPA. It goes down smooth unlike many other IPA’s. I ordered the Diablo Chicken entrée and was impressed with the flavor of the overall dish. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a good balance of heat and complexity. The green peppers and tomatoes that rested on top made the dish look like a fajita entrée at Acapulco. The veggies were extremely fresh and had a tint of butter that made them very delicious. The mashed potatoes were freaking insane. I love that they leave the skin on and mix in fresh garlic. The other dish I tried was the Seared Ahi which was cooked perfectly but it was the portion was a tad small but the veggies and garlic fries filled the plate nicely. I think back to the DTLA location in Alameda which I frequented often late nights. That place had a lot of character but this new location is a lot cleaner and welcoming. I’m just glad Weiland’s is back on the map and in LB.

I used to visit this place a lot when it located in DTLA. It was the perfect place to go after a dodgers game or just at the end of a night. I was very sad to see it go away when the MTA took over the property. Fast forwarding to a few months ago I hear about a new place in Bixby Knolls area. I was thrilled to hear they relocated nearby. My first visit at the new locations was great. The beer was great as was the selection and they brought over a few bartenders from the old place. We talked, told stories and it felt like the old place. The food menu hasn’t changed much either, which is a good thing. I used to love getting the Korean Short Rib Tacos. I’m so glad they kept that item on the menu as I have missed those tacos dearly. If you’re in the area and looking for a nice place for a beer and food, do not have hesitate to drop into Weiland’s and try the tacos!

They had four beers with their name attached and about 20 other beers. The variety was good, from a watermelon wheat to a peanut butter stout and a bunch of IPAs. Food is good and the variety of burger possibilities is great(build your own). The garlic for the fries is super strong and the waitress recommended getting it on the side, fortunately. Good setting and vibe.

Visited the new WBR with a about 10 other coworkers and my boss one day for lunch and was excited to give the new guy on the block a try. Upon entering the service was really good and we were seated almost immediately as they had to put some tables and chairs together but they handled everything like pros . I ordered the kobe beef burger with cheddar and bacon with a side of garlic fries. The cheddar and the bacon were perfect in my opinion but the burger was a bit on the dry side for my taste but I’m not one to complain so i chomped it down regardless. The garlic fries were delicious and when they mean garlic they mean it. I’m sure not everyone likes that much garlic but I’ll take it any day of the week . The chicken wings were a bit on the bland side when compared to other local eateries. Not sure what happened there but they weren’t terrible I guess . Overall if you want a nice ambiance and some good food give WBR a try.

This is really about a 2.5 star rating, rounded up. All of the employees were super nice and friendly. The food is where this place falls short. We ordered burgers; his was supposed to be medium-rare, mine was supposed to be medium. Both burgers were well-done, and dry. Sadness. Nothing special about the Kobe beef… especially when it’s cooked to well-done, it’s chewy and dry and loses what makes it special. Not much else to say. Will not be returning.

Took a while, however, I finally found myself a watering hole, close to work. As finicky that I can be, when it comes to certain things in life, like beer, it took me three visits to decide whether I like this place or not. And I do. Each time I’ve been here, has been for Happy Hour. Each time, it’s been great, friendly customer service. It’s also been decent specials on the drinks and appetizers. I even like the crowd as I’ve seen the same faces on two of my visits. It’s close to work. Lots of parking, mostly street though. Full bar and the bartenders aren’t stingy with their pours. I’m a dark beer fan however, the lighter house brands go pretty well with the appetizers and with the Happy Hour prices, you really can’t complain. I know I don’t. There’s a full bar if you want something stronger or if you need one of those drinks that comes with umbrellas or flowers. The rest of the craft selection isn’t bad for my taste and the open floor plan allows for group gatherings. The TV’s are nice for watching sporting events. Be nice to see bigger screens but they’re big enough because there doesn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house — unless you’re sitting outside. One day I’ll eat off their full menu but I’m almost positive that I’ll still be a fan.

At first, we thought we picked the wrong night to check out this particular joint. They were having some sort of diners get together dinner, so the only space available was at the bar. I had just finished at the gym and I was famished, so I didn’t really care and wanted to get something in my system as quickly as possible. The girl behind the bar was lovely, though she kept talking to us with her back turned and we missed half of the things she said every now and then. She told us we should visit on a Friday or over the weekend to try the bison burger, because it’s so overwhelmingly good and they sell out by early/mid week. Both of us decided that we would follow her advice. I ordered the classic beef burger with avocado and garlic fries and a cider on the side. When the food came, my burger was surprisingly large. The meat was moist, and I was enjoying both it and the fries immensely. However, as I started getting into it, it became quickly apparent that the patty was closer to rare than medium. I tried eating as much of it as I could — I think I got about halfway done — but I quit because I was feeling uncomfortable. Rare is a far cry from medium. I mentioned it to the server and she got me a completely new burger and fries. This time, the patty was overcooked(to be honest), but maybe they didn’t want me to complain again. It wasn’t as moist and juicy as my first, but the flavor was still good, and I appreciated the effort to make my order right. By this time I was pretty full from my last plate, so I didn’t eat much. I got a bunch of burger and fries to take home for breakfast and lunch the next day. I thought the food was great and the service attentive. We’ll for sure return for the bison burger some upcoming weekend.

Hey not bad for a transplant from downtown LA. Glad you chose Bixby Knowles, still a cheap über x ride from my home. Great beers on tap, several hipster IPA greatest hits like Sculpin, 805, and many others. Full bar available, big plus, not much«mixology» happening, but still good. Strong Tequila and whisky selection. The food was actually pretty good. Tried the fries with garlic, pretty solid… hand cut in house I’m pretty sure. Spicy chicken wings, very good, loads of chili paste with garlic, cooked so they fell off the one…, the Kobe burger was seriously great. Get it on the brioche bun. Juicy, delicious, I found myself dipping the fries into the burger run off juices. Amazing! All in all a very solid choice in The knowls? Yes, I will go back…
