The Auld Dubliner may as well be a Long Beach landmark. Sure I am biased as I have been a patron of this joint since 2007 however even if I was a first timer here I would still be impressed. This place is exactly what you want a Irish bar to be… consistent, good, live music, a big bar, cool bartenders, great food, and whiskey. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to write a review for the Dub but better late than never right? Ambiance: Spacious, tables(If that’s your thing at a bar), dancing space, standing space, a patio and bar chairs. What more do you want? Total Score: 5⁄5. Service: Now I am biased since I was once a bartender and used to close my nights with these guys but Silas, Ian, and Evan are just the best. Service is always consistent and always a good pour. Total Score: 5⁄5 Price: Perfect. Total Score: 5⁄5 What our typical lunch order is on a Sunday: Fried Mac & Cheese Balls $ 7: [Note, these are not on the menu but you can always ask for them] We all have that one food that we cave in for no matter how many calories the plate contains… well for me my guilty pleaser are the Dub’s mac and cheese balls. In my opinion these mac and cheese balls could cure all the hate in the world that’s how good they are. Not sure what they do to them or if it is there crack ranch sauce but these are AMAZING… just get them… trust me… ooooey…gooeey.perfection. Guinness Beef Stew $ 16: Potatoes, carrots, celery, onion. Meaty, hearty, makes you feel at home. Fish & Chips $ 16: Fresh haddock, tartar sauce, marrowfat peas. Now I may get shot for saying this but The Dub has the best fish and chips in town… The Pike bar tries to claim that they do however they are wrong. This dish is crispy, flakey, not over fried and paired with perfectly curry dusted fries and a tartar sauce. Even if you don’t go to eat, go to hang with Silas, Evan and Ian and down some cold beers or whisky. Always a good time.

Friendly service, reasonable prices, and superior bar food. The venue features a live musical performance nightly. I had the grilled three cheese sandwich, which was delicious. It came with a side salad and chips all for about $ 12. We came in on a Monday, and a one man act performed a lively, entertaining set of alternative and classic rock cover tunes, singing along with his guitar and synthesizer. The people I came with said they came in on the weekend and a talented full piece band was performing and they were impressed.

Rude employees, sorry we bothered you by asking for a menu and a drink. Ordered a appetizer it was cold greasy and tasteless and it got there before our cocktails did and we were sitting at the bar mind you there was only maybe eight people in the whole bar. The two employees and I only say they are employees because one of them actually talked to us and the other one kept going back into the kitchen and behind the bar to get things for he and his friends. They were sitting close enough to hear them bitching about the God damned tourists, REALLY? We finished our drink and left. Its downtown LINGBEACH, there are TONS of friendly welcoming bars and restaurants. So we FOUNDONE! And MYBIRTHDAYWASSAVED and now we have a new favorite restaurant which knows how to treat the customers! I’m very disappointed, I was looking forward to the Irish pub experience as I HAD been planning a trip to Ireland, not so much any more

Wow usually I’m pretty impressed by the bartenders every time I’m here but this time one particular bartender working tonight(I won’t mention any names) but he wore grey shirt just had an ass-backward attitude and just didn’t help. He stood in front of me and looked directly at me and just ignored me when I needed a refill, but he was quick to help a patron(cute chick in her pajamas) to steal a bottle of Tapatio. The other bartender(tall cute guy) had to come from the other side to take my drink. I guess I know who I’m going to next time. Sorry lost respect tonight. Merry Xmas! ;)

I’ve come here twice when on a trip to a conference out in Long Beach. The location is perfect for those near the convention center, and honestly just a really cool place overall. The staff is excellent, and your bartender there knows how to pour a pint of Guinness(yes, there is a proper way to pour a beer like that), and the food is better than your average bar. Typically they have a band playing in here, and the talent can vary, but they are passable, and not overly loud. As for the food, great Irish grub here with very reasonable prices. Overall, a really cool spot to hit up if you are bored and by the convention center.

Come to the Auld Dubliner on an early Sunday evening at 4 pm for a real taste of Ireland! A tradition session of Irish music will fill the pub with the sounds of the Emerald Isle while the menu is sure to delight your taste buds. I recommend starting your night with some Curry Fries, just ask for your fries well done or crispy, because nobody should have a soggy potato. The Auld Dubs Corned Beef Sandwich is by far the loveliest! With an apple chutney and tad bit of horseradish it couldn’t be tastier! Be sure to accompany your meal with a proper pint of Guinness, which they always perfect pint and have won an award to prove it! And while the music is playing stay for a cup of tea and some brown bread ice cream or the Irish Whiskey Crème Brûlée to top of the weekend right! Now don’t get me wrong, anytime is a fine time to enjoy the Auld Dub and her wonderful staff! Many like the décor have been imported from Ireland with the warm hospitality and humor as well. They serve up a wonderful Irish Breakfast(breakie) which is the best cure to any hangover! And their corned beef boxty can give Gallaghers in Temple Bar a run for their money! But you really can’t beat a Sunday session!

Came here for some grub & a drink. It was a typical dingy pub, the restrooms were in dire need of repair. The music was way too loud. Parking can be tricky when it gets busy but it’s in a touristy area. The staff was not the most pleasant, she seemed more attentive to the baseball game then us but we were there to catch up with an old friend. The Unilocal check-in had a 50% off any appetizer so we tried the curry chips, they were ok but the curry needed a bit more of a punch in my opinion. My friends had the guiness beef stew & the shepherds pie, they really enjoyed it & they smelled delicious. I had the fish & chips(1 huge filet of haddock), it was well prepared & the batter was light. If I was in my 20’s I would have loved this place. The food was good but the rest of the experience needs some help.

Even though Auld Dubliner is smack in the middle of the Pike and Pine Avenue, two of the touristy areas of Long Beach, and though it’s on the route of the Big Red Bus(which gets its names from the drunk Asian faces on board), with its authentic menu, live music, killer happy hour, and dark wood interior, Auld Dubliner is the most pubbiest pub of Long Beach.

I always enjoy coming here but I usually avoid this place on the weekends, especially after 10PM. It’s gets really crowded and LOUD around that time. Recently we brought a visiting Irish friend here and she could not stop laughing at the menu. She did like the interior and mentioned it does look like the pubs back in Dublin :)

Always have a great time when I’m here. In this occasion I stopped in with my boyfriend for a quick drink in the late afternoon before dinner. We tried a few different whiskeys at the suggestion of a really nice guy that sat next to us. The bartender did a great job of helping us make selections. I had two great cocktails, one was the mule, which was well made, and I also requested a mint julep, which they don’t typically make here, but the bartender did a good job of finding ingredients and putting it together really well. Overall this place is a good choice to have a few drinks, nice atmosphere, and good service.

I had eaten at this place a year ago and had a great experience and wanted come again. This experience was far from my previous experience. I was told to grab a seat which I did. Five minutes later the server dropped off a menu. Five minutes later she showed up to retake my order. I ordered water on a hot day. Five minutes later water showed up from a different server. Food arrive via a different server. The server never came to refill water or check on me. The food is good and enjoyable. It is as good as I remember.

Best authentic Irish food in LA. The place looks like you are in Ireland with all the wood and tables. Terrific job. Excellent big and juicy wings and fries. Black and blue burger and fries also terrfic. Cooked to perfection. Corned beef sandwitch is favorite. It is cooked to perfection with apples and the rye is great. In addition, best kids menu ever. My daughter loved the mac and chesse because it is creamy. We will miss you

This place has a nice ambience to it. Kind of dark. Not very comfortable to sit up at the bar. Not a lot of knee room. But a nice place. I ordered up a corned beef taco and 2 crispy fish tacos. Wow. First off. Crispy Fish Tacos. These are seriously amazing. I could eat them all day long! Just a nice surprise. Beautiful masterpieces. Perfectly fried fish and the coleslaw is a perfect combination. The corned beef taco is great as well! If I had to pick a favorite, 9 times out of 10 I would pick the fish. However, every once in a while, that corned beef one would do just fine! The horseradish mayo hits the spot!

Came here with a coworker to grab a bite for lunch and …I don’t know; the food is nothing to write home about, the service is below average(maybe a little too authentic irish), the bartender was kind of checked out the whole time. Granted, this was mid day Tuesday, the whole town was dead and so was this pub and I’m sure things look, smell and feel different on a weekend night… but Surely you can find a better place to spend your time and money.

Hands down the best Irish bar I have been to in California! Service 5. Food 5. Ambience 5. Music 5. This place is to die for! Ordered the curry fries for an appetizer and they were killer. Then my fiancé got the corn beef and cabbage, normally I do not like that dish but I would go back just to eat that again. Then I got one crispy fish taco. My only regret, I did not get two.

I really loved the corned beef sandwich here and it wasn’t even what I ordered. My food was late to the table so Nica, being the nice guy he is, offered me half of his sandwich while I waited for my club. Upon first bite I knew I had made a mistake by not ordering this instead. There was a good amount of the juicy meat with a nice glob of gooey cheese holding it to the nicely toasted bread. I’m salivating wishing this place was closer so I could order it again! While I waited, Jaime invited me to try his BBQ burger with a fried egg on top. It was a big serving and I really liked how all the flavors of the Guinness sauce combined with the yolk and cheese made this a pretty damn good burger. My chicken club was good, but I think everything paled in comparison to that corned beef and burger. I think I was expecting more of a traditional club sandwich, but instead it was sandwich with a grilled chicken breast and American cheese. It was still good, but not what I was expecting. But probably my fault for not paying closer attention. Just because it was on the menu, I had to try the corned beef taco — just because it was so close to St. Paddy’s Day and all, and it was pretty damn delicious. There was a good amount of the tender meat nestled on top of a spicy type of slaw. I could see myself just having a one-man taco night with these by themselves! We got an order of curry fries for the table and it came with a good amount of the spiced goodness so that none of your fries felt left out. This was a yellow curry, so it’s more on the sweet side if you’re looking for the brown spicy version. Checking in on the Unilocal app will get you 50% off an appetizer, so we had to take advantage of that discount! Service was a bit all over the place, especially since it was dead — but everyone was friendly and we enjoyed our meal. They serve breakfast on the weekends until 11am and offer a traditional Irish breakfast all day(no eggs). I can see this being an ideal spot if you’re attending a conference at the convention center across the street or staying in an adjacent hotel. I’ll for sure be back for that corned beef sandwich sooner or later as I’m still thinking about it several days after the fact!

Yaaaaay Julian! Another visit to AD, we always have a good time. Guinness, salmon toasty, shepherds pie and potato leek soup, all delicious. Julian was behind the bar and was moving and shaking providing superior service to all. The food was good, we did notice a few menu changes. We loved(and always ordered) the Irish Farm plate… it’s no longer on the menu, too bad because it was one of our favorites. The potato leek soup was delicious, lots of texture and tasted just like an Irish mom’s recipe, yum! Place got quite busy, we’re happy knowing AD is here and we will be back… even if they don’t have the farm plate back on the menu.

Parking: street parking or park at the pike. This place validates and if you stay for 3 – 4 hr, you will pay $ 3. Food and booze: we got the Moscow mule and pineapple beer. Both drinks are very delicious and you can taste the strong ginger in the Moscow mule. I got 2 tacos and a corn beef sandwich. They were all so delicious. Tacos: The ahi tuna taco and fried fish taco were surprisingly good and crispy. The sandwich came with a side of roasted cauliflower, super delicious! Don’t forget to validate along the back wall. Big groups: make a reservation, I had a reservation for a party of 8 at 7pm, the manager and waiter made sure I had a table by 7pm. Also note: the tip for a big party is included on the bill.

STOP #2FORTHEHIGHSCHOOLMISFITS! BACKGROUND: In small Irish rural communities the grocer, draper, or even the local blacksmith would often double as the local Pub with both businesses side by side under the same roof. Customers stopping by for supplies would quickly revive their flagging spirits by engaging in conversation with other shoppers over a pint of Guinness. One corner of the shop would be set aside for this purpose, furnished with simple wooden tables or benches arranged around a black potbellied stove that burns non-stop through the winter. The planked floors were worn smooth near the fire and by the bar. All around were dark, ceiling-to-floor wooden shelves cluttered with every conceivable foodstuff and commodity. The white-aproned«Publican»(master of the house), who was also the shopkeeper would pour pints of Guinness for his customers; most of them having forgotten what it was they had come in for. Oil lamps suspended from wood-paneled ceilings would send shadows flickering across the uneven walls and over tea containers, hardware, boiled sweets, binder twine, and barrels of Guinness and whiskey. STATS: Mon — Fri 11:00 am — 2:00 am Sat & Sun 8:00 am — 2:00 am Street parking Inside & outside seating EXPERIENCE: After a tasty dinner at Agaves a group of us headed here for some after dinner beverages. I have never been to Dublin, perhaps the odd set up of this watering hole is typical. Brandon B. describes it well, «…bar arranged in an odd manner. The building is essentially divided into quadrants. …makes it difficult to people watch». Oh well, we were there to spend time with each other. The décor was interesting. I truly desired to go up on the bike displayed above the bar, but the bouncer was looking at me with a piercing look, and then I determined it probably wasn’t a good idea. Instead of waiting for a server to get to us in this crowded little pub, we all gave our drink orders to one person who ordered from the bar. It didn’t get too long for the drinks to be prepared and ready for pick up. None of us ordered anything special, only beer, Irish Car Bomb, and a Kahlua and Cream. This pub is quite noisy, not very conducive to having a normal conversation, so once the drinks drank, we left to our next stop.
