The food was… okay. Portions are very generous, and entrees come with rice and naan, which is always a deal. Owner was very nice, but I had to wait 10 minutes for him to open on a Sunday because he was running late.

Not the best Indian food in town but if you get a hankering for some curry or tandoori chicken or palak paneer then we come here form some thing quick. They have a few selection of items, I don’t think it’s changed much since I started coming here 5 years ago. The the samosas are good, there are value meals that include rice, salad, a choice of entrée, fresh made naan and soda. Customer service is okay, they get your food out in a timely manner. There’s lots of parking.

I asked the guy on the phone if it was a buffet and I get here and it’s a counter. Food’s pretty bland. Tikka masala was watery. The only saving grace is that it’s cheap and fast.

The cook and front girl were patient and helpful as I had never been to this restaurant. The servings were generous, more than enough for 1. I ordered the Lamb curry combo, which is on a side menu option, and the cook made it up in the back. They also havr a seafood option. I got to chose, mild, med, hot… went medium, and was plenty hot! Came with Jasmin rice, Vegetable dish choice, Nan, Crunchy lettuce salad(interesting dressing) and a drink of choice. Also, not often you walk into an Indian Restaurant boldy claiming Christianity. Impressed. I’ll be back!

Can there be any review for a place which deserves 6 out of 5 stars for its hospitality. My film maker friend took me from Hollywood to Long beach just to enjoy the meal at this small Indian place. A 27 mile drive for a heavenly meal. We spent 5 hours at the restaurant. The manager there, Mr Bali is a fatherly figure and is so warm and affectionate which is beyond boundaries. We connected so well that he prepared dishes for me that were not even in the menu. I saw him welcoming each and every guest with warmth and cheer that all of his clients hugged him before leaving the door… that is the magic of goodness.

The consistent freshness of ingredients, quality of dishes and unparalleled flavor has made this place a go to for me. I love coming here when I feel my body needs quality and nutritious food. The naan bread is always a hit. I usually order the bbq chicken and the chicken stew. Every now and then I order the spicy chicken curry. I still have not learned the names of the food because I am so used to just pointing at it. And the spinach thing is not just yummy but super good for you! The owner is super nice and dedicated. He’s open Monday to Saturday from 10:30 am to 9 pm and Sunday at 12 noon to 8 pm.

Prior to coming here I have never had Indian food and to be honest I was nervous to even try it… the smell, the way it looked, everything in general just wasn’t appealing to me. Being judgmental before giving anything a try is always a BAD idea!!! Since I work fairly close to this place I finely said eff it lets just give it a try… Probably the best decision I made, I now come here at least once a week. I get the same thing every time… Combo A which you choose 1 entrée and comes with rice, salad, naan and a drink. My entrée is always the one and only CHICKENTIKKAMASALA! The Chicken is super tender and that delicious sauce is poured over the rice which gives it that super moist consistency… :) gives me happiness! I gave this place only 4 stars because I haven’t tried anything else besides my usual. The small cafeteria style restaurant is definitely worth the try!

The guy who was working here was SOOOO nice! And the price point is so good, so I really wanted to be able to give this place a higher review, but I just can’t. If you are looking for Indian food, as in you’re really familiar with Indian food and are craving those amazing south asian spices, this is not your place. My curry didn’t really taste like curry and my chicken tikka masala was very disappointing. Again, the service was great, and you can’t beat the price, but I just can’t bring myself to rate any higher than 2 stars.

I really… REALLY wanted to like this place. I wanted it to be as amazing as a fast food Indian spot I would go to in Tustin… Fast, cheap Indian food without the hassle of having to go to a restaurant. However, I was sadly disappointed. It barely quenched my craving for Indian food. Instead it had me regretting not getting Greek instead. The curries lacked flavor in my opinion. The naan was super chewy. The basmati rice felt like it was day old rice… The one good thing I would have to say is that I was able to get a 3 item combo, with a drink for less than $ 10. But I think I would pay more money for something better.

This place is affordable and amazing. For less than $ 10 you will have a plate overflowing with delicious food. The owner is here regularly, and he is very kind and generous. We live out of town, but every time we come anywhere near southern California, we know that Taste of India in Long Beach is a must!

We got take out here last night(first visit), and while decent, overall the food wasn’t great. I love Indian food, so I had voted we try this new-to-us purveyor. The owner/counter worker was friendly, and honest about item availability. Based upon several reviews here that gushed about their Saag Aloo, we purchased an order for two. While it was tasty, there were almost no potatoes, and it was in dire need of seasoning(a little spice, as well as salt and pepper). The Chicken Tikka Masala was good, but not great. The chicken pieces themselves were very tender, and had a savory flavor(Tandoori oven?), but the sauce was just okay — again, a little lacking in seasoning and spices/curries to my palate. The Garlic Naan had excellent flavor, but the naan itself seemed(possibly) a touch undercooked; though tasty, was decidedly chewy. Now their Vegetable Samosa was AMAZING! The flavor and texture was worth our trying the food here. A must try, IMO. We also tried their Mango Lassi, which was simply a taste treat, not necessary to cool any curry spices from the food(the usual intent of this yogurt-based drink), as the food definitely lacked many curries. Overall a decent meal, but not up to what I’ve come to expect from Indian food. Good for first timers to Indian food, and those on a short lunch break, but not for those expecting true Indian food flavors and spices. Good for a quickie, not a long term food experience(IMO).

While I used to be pretty regular, recently things have slipped through the cracks. Let me start with why I liked this place: It’s the Panda Express of Indian Food. I loved that I could quickly grab a bite on my short lunch break that satisfied my craving for Indian. With little Indian options in the area, it was a great spot. I liked ordering the chicken tikka masala. They also generously poured the sauce on the rice nearest the portion of the container they put the chicken. This was one of the reasons why I loved this place. I love tikka masala and the more things I could pour that sauce onto, the better. Sure, it wasn’t restaurant quality Indian, but it was good enough. Today(June 30, 2015), when walking in I noticed a sign posted that they did not pass their health inspection. They did not pass due to the food temperatures. This will need to be fixed before the health inspection people come back to follow up. That was disappointing because I don’t like to eat at places that didn’t pass. But I was already there and craving Indian so I went in anyways. Maybe it was because someone finally pointed out the flaws, or maybe they are letting things fall through the cracks, but the naan needed more salt or flavor of some sort. Also, when the ice came out of the vending machine, something black came out. It looked like a medjool date. I immediately got nervous since it’s about the same size as a roach. But after poking it with a straw, it definitely looked like a date and not a bug. But just to be safe, I didn’t use any ice. Also, once sip of my diet coke and I realized my cup was filled with normal coke. With the whole ice issue, I decided to throw the soda away. While this place used to seem like a great cheap place to satisfy my Indian cravings, I will likely not go back.

This tasted like the Panda Express of Indian food. Sure, it’s okay but not the authentic food some may know. My two item combo came with a salad and some green dressing. It was okay in my opinion. I didn’t like their naan bc it wasn’t soft and chewy with bits of crispy ness that I enjoy in naan. It tasted like a breadstick honestly. The tandoori chicken was the same as the one used in their chicken masala. I don’t think the cooking and spices turned the chicken red but that they dyed their meat to give that illusion. I paid roughly $ 8. Overall I’d like to give it a second try(I like to support small businesses) but not the two items I previously got. The service was friendly and it’s walking distance from the hospital.

Since I work very close by, I’ve seen and walked by this restaurant more times than I can remember. I never even once considered walking in, because I’ve never really seen anyone inside eating. However, lately, several coworkers have shared that they’ve been going for years, mostly for take out because the limited seating, makes it difficult to sit and eat lunch there, during the lunch rush. So, as I was walking from one of the off site clinics I had a meeting at — I ran into a coworker who told me he was heading for some Indian. I figured, WTH. and I joined him. Walked in — no one in the restaurant expect the two employees. Figured, oh well, I can always grab something else if I don’t like it and if I get sick, I won’t mind the weight loss. But I was pleasantly surprised to see the food looked to be freshly made. Not right out of the pot, but definitely not heated up after being made the night or days before. I also liked the portion sizes for the prices for the combo plates. And I like that they accept debit cards. It’s a order, sit and when you’re called, grab your food and sit down and chow. Self serve on the drinks, utensils and condiments. No table service. The food wasn’t bad. Having eaten at fancy Indian restaurants, I feel comfortable saying it’s not gourmet, but it’s definitely not awful. The food was not bland and the sauces had a nice flavor. The veggie samosa and Naan was freshly made and was brought out nice and warm. Would I go back? — I still haven’t decided. Though I’ll eat any cuisine, Indian food isn’t one of my favs. But, having tried it and not getting sick and not absolutely hating the experience, I know where I can go, if I happen to be at work with a craving.

The location of this restaurant is easy to find. It is in a strip mall right down the street from LB Memorial Hospital. Plenty of parking. Got here on a Friday for lunch with some friends. Walking up to the front, I noticed there wasn’t a lot of people inside the restaurant. Thought to myself, «Cool, we’ll have time to get some Starbucks afterwards!» Haha. Upon entering, I was quickly saddened to find out this wasn’t a full service restaurant. It is set up almost like a fast-food Chinese place, or an «Okazu-ya.» There was a server standing behind the counter waiting for your order. There was plenty to choose from, but I was not impressed with the interior décor, the layout the spacing of the tables, etc. I wasn’t a fan. Sorry. I ordered the 2-item combo: Chicken Tiki Masala and Spicy Chicken Curry. The 2-item combo came with a super small salad, basmati rice and nan(non-garlic). Seems to be a few different sides you could have chosen, but it was a la carte. The spicy chicken curry was not spicy at all. It was lukewarm, and the basmati rice was a little chewy. Edible, but probably because I had started my day at 5:00AM and I was hungry. The Tiki Chicken was okay, but the sauce was runny. There was too much happening to be served on a standard size styrofoam plate. My spicy chicken curry was mixing with the masala sauce. Really? I ate as quickly as I could. My friends didn’t say a word, so I assumed they were hungry. Luckily for me, we ate fast enough to get some drinks at Starbucks across the street. My friends told me the food was«whatevers» and that they were expecting a lot more. One was even surprised this place wasn’t a buffet! Nonetheless, it’s done and over with. I don’t think I(or we) will be coming back. There are so many other Indian«restaurants» to try, but you have to drive a little further into downtown LGB or even up to Torrance. Enjoy!

Passed by this place for years but never bothered going in until about a week ago. Since then, ive tried everthing on the menu except the samosas. Delicious, damn deeeeeeelicious! The lamb curry is tasty but be careful if you go extra hot on it. My favorite is the tandoori chicken with extra masala. I love how bright and vibrant all the colors are. The mint chutney on the salad is great as well. Super original flavors(I have very little experience with Indian cuisine but have never been against it, as I love trying new foods). This is like a hole in the wall joint that isn’t very appealing at first glance, but definitely worth stopping and trying it out. We came here a few weeks back, walked inside, and then decided to go next door for mediocre sushi instead. Big mistake. Should’ve came here instead. Will definitely keep coming back. You get stuffed off less than ten bucks a person and everything is cooked and ready to go, so no waiting. The combos ranged from 5 to 9 bucks depending on how many sides you get but all come with basmati rice, small side salad with the mint chutney, and a drink.

The Chicken tiki masala is phenomenal. What a great combo, priced for under $ 8 bucks you get a drink two items rice naan and a salad. On this order I had chicken tiki masala and garlic chicken. Both were very very good. The naan is made in a clay oven, according to some signs. The place is relatively small, it could do with a little makeover but the food is the main focus here. I can’t believe there isn’t a fast food Indian place in my neighborhood I think you would do so well
