I was referred to Dorina through a friend and loved my experience at her salon. I wanted to dye my hair purple and was a little anxious going in but she walked me through the process and made me feel comfortable. In the end, I got purple highlights and have received many compliments. Dorina did an amazing job and I love love my hair! Not only is she meticulous, but also incredibly sweet. She takes care with her clients and I left very happy. Thank you Dorina!

Yolanda is awesome. I came in wanting something new and refreshing. She did not disappoint. I have a color I wouldn’t have chosen but it’s gorgeous. My hair is bouncing with body and such a healthy glow. Her personality is very inviting and sweet. She’s a hair stylist you don’t mind having a great intelligent conversation with. Thanks for top notch service Sophisticuts.

Took my 16 yr old to sophisticuts. This was my daughter’s first time coloring her hair. I didn’t want my daughter to put any coloring in her hair since her hair was two toned. My daughter went with the purple highlights, and I have to say, this place did a fantastic job.

I made an appointment to see Dorina because I needed my roots touched up, a trim, and I wanted some subtle face framing highlights. She tried high lift tint to lighten my hair, but when she checked on the foils, she said something to the effect of «we could be here all night waiting; I’m going to have to use bleach». During the entire foil process, I noticed that she was flat ironing over the foils. I found it strange, but didn’t have reason to say anything at the time. Anyhow, as soon as I washed my hair a couple of days later, I noticed that it was severely damaged at the highlighted areas only. I immediately did research for damaged hair remedies online and found a video on You Tube of a hair stylist flat ironing a woman’s foils. All the reviews were saying that this«method» will damage the hair. So I further researched and found out that there is no need to «speed up» the process of highlighting, and that it is just asking for trouble when you apply heat on top of bleach. Over the course of approximately 2 weeks, I applied deep conditioning treatments at home, thinking that I could possibly nurse the hair back to health, but it was useless. As soon as my hair would get wet, it would kink up like it had been singed by fire. Heartbroken, I called the salon and left a message for Dorina, telling her about the damage and about the deep conditioning treatments that I had already done. When she finally called me back it was past 9:00 at night(I was asleep); she left me a voicemail, suggesting a deep conditioning treatment at her salon. She also said she only had certain availabilities to see me as her schedule was partially full. I guess fried hair wasn’t a priority. I’ve been getting foils for many years, and this is the first time any stylist has employed the«flat iron over foil method», and it is also the first time that my hair has split and broken. My mom once did my highlights at home years ago with cheap crap from the drug store, and it came out with no damage at all. I now know that the damaged areas must be cut off, and it is a bitter pill to swallow, as I’ve been growing my hair for some time, and I hate having short layers near my face because it looks like grown out bangs. In retrospect, I am so glad that I only requested foils around the face and not all over. This was my first and last visit, which has been both a learning experience and a shock. I will certainly speak up if I ever suspect a stylist is doing something that would be potentially harmful!

I loved this place! Dorina is the best, she treated my hair the way hair should be treated, with care. We had great conversation and she was really sweet. If I was staying in town, I would definitely be going to her all the time! Highly recommended!

You have to go see Dorina, she is amazing. I will not let anyone else touch my hair. I have always wanted to have long hair, and Dorina keeps it long, shiny, and strong. She has great products too(Moroccan oil, love it), and is also up to date with hairstyles. I go into the Salon and tell her to do what she thinks is in style and I always come out of there amazed and loving my hair. I get compliments all the time. She is very honest too. If she thinks something will not look right, she will tell you and I love her for that Dorina you Rock. =)

Listen up Curly Girls! Go see Keri! Keri has been cutting my hair for about 2 years now and she does a fantastic job. Actually she first cut my hair when she was at Spa Sidney’s on Broadway. She really listens to what you are asking for and the results are always great. My hair is curly, and curly haired girls know to be picky with who cuts their hair. Keri knows how to handle my hair and I’m always happy with the results. The salon is more of a neighborhood salon, but they have all the products that you might need. Very kid friendly as the owner and Keri both have young kids, and sometimes you’ll find them at the salon.
