Drinks were okay and so was the music. The girls bartenders were awesome! I’d come back just for them.

i live 6 blocks from the sandbar. i love this place! the bf loves the monday night beer buffet especially during football season. i love the casual lounge, neighborhood bar feel. especially when they invite food trucks, that’s a real treat. now to answer the other reviewers concerns/negative feedback: — it’s not a bikini bar. the lovely bartenders are wearing bikini tops and sexy shorts similar to the laker girls and the hooter girls. they’re sweet, nice and friendly. — dress code is casual typical of any lounge and neighborhood bar. if its a game day, you can wear your team’s jersey. if they have an event, you can dress up. i love how the sandbar is not pretentious and fake =) — the only reason why the police comes over is because there are a couple of old and pestering former politicians that live close to the sandbar and bombarded the west division with unnecessary phone call. they just call for no apparent reason. i know because i volunteer for the neighborhood association. the west division long beach police knows the sandbar is not doing anything, lbpd is just following protocol. nothing to be worried about. heck, this is my neighborhood, i know! — i am not a friend of ed’s — just like on of the reviewers that said only ed’s friends come to the sandbar. i know him because he did a presentation to the neighborhood association. and of course i’ve been at the sandbar for over a dozen times. they play house music and they are also open to what you want to hear music. one thing i love about this place is it’s accessible. it’s a place to getaway without having to drive far. i sometimes walk to and from the sandbar =) — i don’t know what to say to people that go to bars to meet people and get laid. don’t they have dating sites for those nowadays? i doubt if you can get hooked up at the sandbar. i’m actually glad it’s not that kind of bar. that means people that go to the sandbar just want to have a good time and are not desperate. — it’s not a front for anything. if it was, then i would personally shut it down. — there’s so much complaint about the dj’s. dj’s come in with their own repertoire. if you like bass mix then listen to ancy c and rusko. if you want something else, then follow that dj you like. dj’s are not mind readers. tell them what you want them to play. if they don’t do it, then complain. i’ve never had that problem at the sandbar. — it’s not a club. unless there’s an event. — it’s not a sketchy neighborhood. it’s my neighborhood. last note: if you expect it to be like the pure club at the caesar’s palace in las vegas, or the silk at pechanga, or the goat hill tavern in costa mesa or even the mai tai at downtown long beach — it’s not! it’s a unique hang out, get a couple of drinks, enjoy a basketball/football game with a couple of beers, enjoy trying out food truck fare, real, authentic, neighborhood bar/lounge. come in after work, come in before a game, stay til the we hours of the morning, come as you are. be yourself, have a great time. nothing fancy, a good experience, nothing fake, not for desperados. take care! see you at the sandbar =)

I can’t believe I’m reviewing this place. Let’s see. I’ve been here twice. Wait. 3 times… First time willingly, because I didn’t know better. Second time, I think I was coerced or probably drunk or something, because somehow I decided to go there for a second time and return for a third time all in the same night. Do not expect the bar to be like Perch in DTLA. This is not an upscale or regular college town bar. The people are ghetto and not good looking. If you want to get laid with not so good looking people, come here and you might have a shot. Pros: Cheap drinks Cons: Unattractive ghetto people

I don’t know what club/bar the other reviewers are going to, but it ISNOT this one. lol. This place is totally bizarre. So, the piece and I walk in and we go straight to the bar. The bartenders are hot chicks and the drinks are ok. There were very few people in the place, but it was early so we thought it would get busier later. uhhhh… how about no. While we waited for our drinks we glanced around and noticed the dance area consisted of a dance floor with two bar tables and a VIP corner. It was literally a corner with two couches and a table sectioned off. And it wasn’t very VIP because some random guy just walked ina nd moved the movie-theater style divider thing. and then his really random entourage followed. The mix on the dance floor consisted of about 10 – 15 people. 6 were a herd. 5 were asian doing interesting Bruce Lee dance moves, 2 were a couple making out, and the other two were me and the piece. Unfortunately we looked just as bad as the other people cuz my guy was drunk and getting kinda freaky with me. BUTIFTHEREWAS A CROWDANDTHEPLACEWASBANGIN’ that would not have mattered. The night never really peaked. When we walked in the music was really good for about 5 songs, then staright down hill. No DJ. I think it was just someone’s iPod. Add to this the fact that Whitney Houston videos were playing on their giant projector all night. The group on the dance floor never went above 20 and the bar was empty by 12:30. I don’t know when or if i’ll go back, but hopefully next time its a lot less tragic.

I received so many text messages from the promoter who hosts Saturday nights at Sandbar I just KNEW good times were in store… I was disappointed. I have to admit that the décor isn’t bad and there’s more room inside than the outside gives off but that’s about as far as my praises go. The first half hour of music was R&B/Hip Hop which I enjoyed and expected then it turned into a Pop/Techno/Dance mix that catered to a different crowd than I was expecting. The crowd was sparse and predominantly Hispanic and Asian, college ago to late 20s probably, which is fine but I was expecting more of an urban crowd/vibe. I appreciate the free admission and the moderately priced drinks but I don’t think I’ll being paying the Sandbar Lounge another visit anytime soon.

Fun and laid back vibe here in a mostly Asian, 20 year olds(Wednesday night) «dive bar.» I was here on a Wednesday night and there was a live band that played a lot of 90’s R&B such as Aaliyah, Musiq Soulchild… some Stevie Wonder and a their own renditions of Wham’s Careless Whisper and an Incubus song. At 30, we felt at home with the music, but looking around, the crowd looked like they were in their 20s so we all definitely felt like the older ones in the bar. The drinks here were reasonably priced with shots costing only $ 5. Would definitely come back to hang out if I am in the area and to listen to the live band.

So I have been coming to Sandbar for about 2 months or so. Im always here on a Friday or Saturday. From the looks on the outside it looks really small but when you step inside it surprises you. Bartenders are super cute and nice. They always seem to hook it for you. Me and my girls love to dance, so the dance floor and the DJ is on point. Security there are super nice, they even walk us to our car at night. Everything that I love about a bar, Sandbar has it. The crowd is mixed which I love o so much. You have your asians, latinos, polynesian, african american and so on. Need I say more, they dont discriminate here. Everytime that I come the crowd is super good and super nice. Always full of fun. I never leave Sandbar with a frown. If you haven’t been here, well than you need to come on either a Friday or Saturday. I prefer the Friday crowd because to me it always seems to be a little packer than Saturday. But either way it super nice. They do have bottle service, on Friday sometime they have specials or buy one get one free so thats definiately a plus in my book. lol. I have had my lil sister surprise 21st birthday party here on a Friday 12÷2÷11 and it was hella poppin. Good time and good crowd. Sandbar was super nice, the DJ was playing all the hits && my family and I juss could not get enough of Sandbar. COMETOSANDBAR, AND PARTy WiTH NOTHiNG BUTLONGBEACH’s FiNEST! ♥ ZEBRAHCAKEz

So, I’m not really a fan of going to bars and wasting money on liquid courage in a tall glass with a black straw but this place is pretty neat! A diamond in a rough, literally. From the outside it looks pretty small but inside it’s actually not bad at all. Pretty spacious and clean. The water closet has only one stall so try not drink too much or else you’re skewed waiting in line for that one person passed out next to the toilet. People, understand that this is not a night club which mean the dance floor is going to be small and Music is good and chill, too.(I went on a Saturday so I was shakin’ it. LOL) The last time I was there the police had to arrest a bunch of people, «Gangsters», because apparently«someone» had a weapon inside the bar. REALLY? It’s a God Damn Bar… go somewhere else with that shit. Ruin your own good time by staying home! And let everyone else enjoy theirs! Amen!

This used to be the old puka bar, which I never had a chance to visit. Then finally came the change. My friend Scott(Irish, Salvadoran-raise red head) is always there, such a regular they gave him a shirt to blend in! Now the bar is pretty decent, all good whiskey, vodka and tequilas in stock, they sometimes serve in small to medium cups so you won’t get mostly ice. They have cheap drinks, pretty and nice bartenderers in suffocating corsets, semi-old mainstream music playing, free parking and you can go in flats not having to worry about murdering your feet. The crowd is in the mid 20’s What else can you ask for as a place who’s happy hour ends at 11 on a weekly basis with different drink specials. Come here to chill, drink and then dance. Happy hunting:-)

THEBESTBARINTHEBESTBEACH! THESANDBARINLONGBEACH! Woo hoo! I may seem biased cuz me and my buddy Matt do LIVEMUSIC there every Wednesday night(Come out! Me and the band plays LIVE old school 90’s jams EVERYWEDNESDAY), but everyone at the Sandbar is awesome! The staff is always SO super cool and nice, and the crowd on Wednesday nights are always so chill and huge music 90’s music enthusiasts! Everyone is just chillin’, sometimes groovin’ to the band on the dance floor – it’s just always a CHILL and NICE time with a CHILL crowd. :) AND It’s always such a treat to chat with the bartenders and all the great people that walk through the door after a long day at work. It’s definitely a awesome refresher. I highly recommend you all to check out the Sandbar on Wednesdays and ANYDAYOFTHEWEEK! It’s a great place to unwind. :)

Pro’s: Free parking. Drinks are super cheap. Female bartenders are beautiful. No cover charge(I went on a Saturday night). The DJ played all the best club music out there… Con’s: It looked like a bunch of characters from the DMV on the dancefloor, 12 year old looking boys and girls in the corner, pockets of ghettoooooo, and guys with aggressive sad game walking around. Oh dear :(and the women’s bathroom by the bar was broken, nasty. Over all an A for effort because you can tell the owners turned this place into a dance type of bar from something from the 1980’s. This place is not for me, but if you like the Pro’s about SandBar go take a looksie.

The SandBar??? More like The SandBOX! This was definitely the sandbox where all the little youngsters were playing in. They might as well have been dispensing some Pampers inside the bathrooms. The crowd was full of early 20 somethings, hanging out, making out, duking it out, and puking it out to some semi-decent music. You know you’re old when the min you walk into a place, you suddenly feel like a pedobear. Since we made the drive out there, and the boys paid a $ 5 cover, we thought we’d tough it out for a bit and grab some drinks in hopes of blurring out the rude reality that our 20’s were slowly slipping away from us… it didn’t work :( After a couple of drinks and watching a few future Real Worlders Long Beach edition scuffle a bit, me and my family of pedobears migrated on out of The SandBox to chill in the cafeteria aka Roscoe’s(bcs. that’s where cool, older kids like Snoop Dogg kick it!) If you can’t say you were born in the 90’s, you might want to rethink The SandBox part of the playground…

I ve been to this bar twice and the first night was a Saturday night and the music and DJ were great. He played a mix of hip hop and old school music and the place was Pumpin! The 2nd time was a Friday night and it was WACCCCKKKK! The DJ sucked the most! He was playing the worst music with the worst mixes! He didn’t seem to get the fact that nobody was feeling his music on the dance floor, but still continued to play the wackiest music! I was really disappointed at the DJ, but the bouncers and security there are super cool. Might check it out again, but definitely not on a friday if this DJ is playing. Drinks are superrrrr affordable!

The sand bar is a bar disguised as a club in what I believe is the Wrigley area of Long Beach. The DJ here is awesome. They spin hip hop and top 40’s. There’s a dance floor and an attempt at a club atmosphere but its obviously just a bar that looks like a club. Im not mad at them, its a nice set up but know what you are going to. The drink prices are cool. Its a nice little spot to hang out. I been there a few times usually Friday or Saturday. The crowd is a late 20 somethings mostly Asian, but if you didnt know I party with everybody, If your cool I can party with you and the people here are cool.

This place is awesome. Me and my friends wanted to get away from the whole overpriced hollywood scene and stumbled into this place. I guess it used to be a dive bar prior, but now the place looks great. The bartenders there are really sweet and super hottttt. Im surprised on a busy night they still can get you served fairly quick. The music is great and the DJ’s that play there are really good, they definitely get the crowd moving. Ever since going there for the first time ive been coming back quite frequently to the point where the staff is starting to recognize me now haha. Overall, I’d give this place 5 stars because of the drink prices are very reasonable, the venue looks great, the bar staff is sexy and sweet, and the DJ’s are off the hook. If you want to have a great time without dealing with all the hollywood BS and overpriced drinks and cover, come party at sandbar, the DJ’s that play there also play in hollywood so your definitely not missing out in the entertainment portion :)

So I decided to go to this bar because my friends suggested that this was one of the newer bars in the Long Beach area. Immediately upon arrival the venue definitely stands out amongst all the other businesses in the area mainly because it’s all black with a bright shining sign that illuminates the sky. –I never thought that there could be a bar THISNICE in this area. I didn’t expect the inside to look like this from the outside. The theme of the venue is a nice black/white with hints of pink here and there. –I went on a Thursday night and the music the DJ’s were playing had me dancing all night long. The music they were playing had a variety of jams of new and old it just all flowed so right. The only other place in long beach i could compare the music to is maybe Mai Tai bar on a wednesday night. –The staff was very helpful and the drink prices are very decent $ 6-$ 7 for a drink. The bartenders were soooo sexy(mainly female staff with awesome outfits). All my girlfriends rave about this bar and always want to go back. –The parking is a bit sketchy because you have to park in the neighborhood or across the street right next to some pottery place. ***The security here is so nice because at the end of the night they took the time to make sure my girls and I were escorted back to our cars. Not just US, but I saw them doin’ this for other girls as well.

Came here 2 nights in a row and both times were nice. First night I got frisked like crazy but I’m used to that because any where I go with my red Nike SB Blazers I get that extra treatment. We got in and it was nothing that I would have expected. It was a pretty chill place. Nice room for some dancing and bar had most of every liquor you would want to make the night. 2nd Night I came in there were more people at it was crackin. For the guys expect to pay a cover charge of $ 5 after 10pm. The girls behind the bar are pretty fast on getting your drinks which I liked. And they had at least 5 of them not like other dive bars or bars in general. And they are pretty generous on making the drinks with some liquor, not no watered down shit. Come thru people and support your locals. Oh and good luck finding parking on the side street, it can be a hassle.

Went here for the first time the other night for my friend Jonah’s dirty thirty birthday bash. Heard this place used to be the Puka Bar which was a dive bar, then got bought out, renamed, all that good stuff, and now its the new Sandbar. I love the name, its catchy, but its still a dive bar(don’t get me wrong, I love dive bars), only now remodeled to have a dance floor, area for the DJ, and a few VIP tables in the corner. The drink prices are pretty standard($ 6-$ 7), nothing great but they get the job done. And the girls serving them are in skimpy outfits so I’m sure that must be some bonus for guys out there who are in to that stuff? ;) The DJ that night was definitely playing a variety of music but everything we could have a good time dancing to. I’d definitely come back being that there was no cover and I was feeling the dim atmosphere and the black light out on the dance floor. The 2 bouncers could ease up a little on people coming in. I swear they looked at each ID for a good 5 minutes front and back and compared the picture to the owner at least for two glances. They even asked me what year I graduated to see if that was really my ID? C’mon guys, this place is tight but not that legit to where if I was underage, this would be THEE bar I would try to get into. Oh and its in a sketchy neighborhood area and there’s only street parking so girls be careful walking around these parts if you have no guys with you. Also, bathroom is pretty clean but notice its singular. yeah only one stall for the ladies. oh well, bottoms up to dive bars!
