I’d been patronizing Phở American for about 5 years now but the last few times, the quality of food and service has been disappointing. For starters, I don’t like my food server and I have a language barrier because this causes orders to be submitted incorrectly. I’m all for food servers speaking their native language but in order to effectively communicate my order, food server needs to be able to understand specific food request. I asked for no white onion, what i got was all condiments mixed in a side dish(including white onion). maybe i scared the food server but condiments have always been added to soup, never on the side. food server also seemed perplexed when i asked for white meat only. then there’s the quality of the food. spring rolls used to come packed with really green lettuce. now it’s just head lettuce, and for the same price. basil used to be thai basil, not it’s just standard basil. Lastly, my last boba was liquid, not the usual slush drink. I’m not sure I’ll be coming back to this place but it has gone from 5 stars to 2(for me) over the last 2 years.

I’ve had phở take out twice within a couple of days of each other and the experience was night and day. I had never had phở before but neighbor insisted it was better than chicken soup for a cold so she brought some by when my spouse and I could barely get out of bed. It was incredibly fragrant, fresh and rejuvenating. But I still had a cough and fever a few days later so I sent my spouse back to pick up another round. The broth was overcooked and stale, the vegetables were wilted and slimy, and the the meat was grey and grimey. We both tossed ours after just a sip. We were glad to be introduced to phở but also grateful to find much better places to get it since then.

Try their sausage spring rolls and their dry vermicelli with pork, yummy! The sausage spring rolls are savory with fresh and pickled veges wrapped in rice paper, you don’t even need the peanut sauce which only covers up the robust flavors of the sausage. The grilled pork and vermicelli is another winner and the salad that comes with is flavorful, with a purple/green leafy vegetable with a unique taste that sets it apart from all other salads. Serving sizes are generous and everything tastes fresh with authentic flavors!

First time trying Phở. I wasn’t happy that I couldn’t find the restaurant rating but I risked it anyway. LOL It’s just like the rating says. It’s Ok..

3.5 stars but I want to up their rating because this place is great. Phở was great. They have veggie. Thank god. All the accoutrements were at the table, which I love. Skip the spring rolls. Mushy. They were playing techno music when we came & it was like a club. Mmps mmps. But seriously phở is great here & they’re open til 9!

Ok so I’ve been to this place many times before, and it’s always been really great but I haven’t been there in like two years and all of a sudden there staff is very Grimm and depressing. Any day I would have given this place a five star but the staff isn’t great anymore. Great food and exceptional service is the key to a unique dining expirience.

Went because earliness(10AM) & convenience. Not disappointing, despite the exterior, sorry but tbh. Considerate, attentive staff. Ordered take out phở– aromatic on the drive home, yet careful packaging. Watered down the broth, but the flavor kept fine. Quality flank imo; lots of bean sprouts; noodles cooked well; good rare steak. Boo said the prices were good, music was nice & the decorative instruments hung looked cool.

Been awhile since I’ve eaten here. Pricey on some of their entrée, but it’s definitely better than stuck up Cyclo Noodles. Came in an hour before they close and it was pretty busy. So hungry for phở especially I was still sick with a cold and cough. They are generous with their seafood portion, though noodles not so much. Had their dinner special of regular Phở of either seafood or shrimp and seafood spring rolls for $ 15.95. I remember this deal being less than $ 15 before, but I guess it’s still a better deal than some out there. It definitely satisfied my phở craving. Service is still ok, but not as we would have liked it to be. Remembered it being ok and now, no difference whatsoever. I will be back here for sure when I crave phở and wish they still have their rewards that they used to give out, but they don’t do that anymore. The bathroom, if you have to use it, was clean and you could tell they care about it. Parking can be packed at times, but we found a space an hour before they had to close.

This was my first experience with phở and it was great! You can’t beat their happy hour(3 – 5 pm, I think, M-F) $ 5 for a regular size bowl, which is pretty big to begin with… they have a lot of choices and they have a parking lot. Not fancy, just really good.

For some reason I always end up eating at places that have a parking lot. For some reason that is a huge seller for me. I guess that is how you can tell I live in Long Beach, actually all of LA, when you are picking places to go based on their parking situation. The Bah Mi is delicious. The vermachelli is tasty too. The atmosphere is calming, clean, and fun. Love the instruments on the wall. I was here on a Friday night and it was not too busy. They take card, too. I will be returning to try their huge menu, too.

Sure Phở America is in a kinda in a jankey place in the LBC but hey they offer gated parking for that reason folks and have been cranking out some of Long Beaches’ most legit Vietnamese food since it opened. This is my go-to spot if in the mood for Phở and it never leaves me disapointed and heres why… Ambiance: Simple Vietnamese joint that is always clean and has plenty of tables. Total score: 5⁄5. Service: If there was a way to give this place 10⁄5 stars I would because service here is SOFAST and on point ALWAYS. You come in, you get waited on literally right away, and get your food 5min later… how great is that? Total score: 5⁄5 Price: I have no idea how this place keeps the prices so low but you can get filled up here(Phở + sandwich) for under $ 10…dare you to find a better deal in town. Total score: 5⁄5 What is usually ordered: Phở with Rare Steak(Regular $ 5.75 Large $ 6.75): I order the large because why not. The broth here is killer and they give you so much fixings that you never think you will use it all but at the end of the day you enjoy every last piece of bean sprout and jalapeño slice. Beef Banh Mi $ 3.95: $ 3.95 People, $ 3.95 for an AMAZING meat filled perfect Banh Mi. Bread is always perfectly toasted yet soft and filled with the freshest veggies and loads of grilled meat. Always a must when here. I have been a patron of Phở America for the last 3 years and am not going anywhere else anytime soon. Always my go to place for Phở :)

This Long Beach phở house — located in a rather shady area, near the 710 Freeway, on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway — is fast becoming a favorite spot of mine and prepares what I feel is some of the finest, authentic Vietnamese cuisine in town. Right at the top of the list of best dishes is, of course, their signature beef phở(noodle soup). The broth is excellent: meaty, onion-y and well balanced. You can harmoniously taste all the ingredients in just the right amounts. No one seasoning overwhelms the flavors of the other. The stock is blanched perfectly, clear and rich in flavor. The ingredients that goes into making this soup is very complex but the preparation is spot on at this restaurant. The noodles are also blanched just right and not overcooked. Choice meat cuts are then added and cooks quickly in the pipping hot bowl of soup. The herbs and vegetables are fresh and crisp, thus the bean sprouts adds a different texture and nice crunch. Other garnishes like the basil, jalapeño peppers and lime melt nicely into the broth and brings out an incredible aroma. While locals have had a loyal patronage to the phở house off of Anaheim Street near Redondo Boulevard in Eastside, the tastiest bowl of phở I have tried thus far in Long Beach is right here at Phở America. It is not even a subject of much debate in my opinion. Restaurant has been in business for seven years. Staff keeps it relatively clean and fairly well maintained. Service is friendly but hurried. The owner Karen is warm and gracious. My top spot for phở in Long Beach, I would even go as far to say Phở America is on par with many of my favorite phở houses in Little Saigon — Westminster and Garden Grove. Open 7 days a week, 10am-9pm

They play the weirdest music here. It’s like they play it on purpose so you can get in and get out as fast as you can. The Phở was ok. The broth wasn’t as rich as some of the other places I’ve tried before, but it will do. Service is whatevers here. You have to wave them down for them to come to you, unlike other Vietnamese restaurants.

I’m spoiled. I live in 626. This place wasn’t HORRIBLE but it definitely wasn’t the best. We got a regular banh mi(they only had one kind) and phở. The phở tasted SUPER salty and MSG filled — so it was delicious haha — MAD headache afterwards. The banh mi was pretty good but tasted pretty saucy. Almost like teriyaki pork. They gave us a complimentary dessert afterwards that was pretty good. I have no idea what it’s called. Gotta order the ca phe sua da!

Came here with my coworkers for lunch. This is more like 3.5 stars but I’ll round up. We each ordered their lunch special combo #1 that came with one rare steak phở bowl, free iced tea(or u can get soda with no refill) and 1 shrimp/beef spring roll for only $ 7.50. Talk about one steel deal. It didn’t finish there, they also give you this Vietnamese dessert mixed with coconut after your meal. So I’m a 626 native, and the options for dining at any Asian restaurant is plentiful. My rating is lenient considering the location. There’s not that many Vietnamese places here. Overall, this is a good place for something quick and cheap!

This place is just OK. Is this the best Phở I’ve ever had? NO. Is it the worst Phở I’ve ever had? NO. Being that I am Vietnamese I can say that this place is sort of Americanized… I even come in ask questions and order in vietnamese and they answer me back in English… TSKTSKAMERICANIZED! The Phở here lacks the authentic flavor as well as authentic smells that I’m used to when confronted with the traditional uses of fish sauce, star anise, ginger, etc. And for that they lost a few stars. This place is open later than other Phở places in the area and is very convenient especially if you don’t feel like driving to OC and want a quick Phở fix. Will I be back? Only if other places are closed or Im too lazy to drive.
