If you like getting your car broken into, drinking watered down beer, smells like a toilet, then this is your place.

The drinks are amazing ! They are super accommodating and really friendly. The owner is cool as shit and bartenders are rad, I love this bar and wish there was more of them. And the shows they have there are amazing. The music is always awesome!

Not sure as I’ve not been here before but in the light of full disclosure: I’m pimpin’ our show next Thursday, 4⁄23. I will say that the promoter we’re working with — Sarah —(and I think she books a lot of shows here) of Sick Girl Outlaw Productions, has been great. Really looking forward to it. C’mon out and see us. We’re TWAT from San Francisco.

Its a trashy dive that opens at 10am and has many colorful patrons… Why are people complaining about the service?

Terrible clueless lady bartender, ghetto ass place. Too much wannabe thugs(self proclaimed skinheads who«own» the area while harassing us) hanging out outside and at the bar screaming and yelling to non punk bands playing and intimidated my wife. You really don’t wanna play gig here, it’s useless and risky. But then again it’s in a shady part of Long Beach that you wouldn’t be in anyway. So yeah, eff this sketchy place and its effing skinheads.

Came and service was horrible. Waited forever to get a beer but never did. Worst part was it wasn’t even busy. I walked out and left. Whatever.

I’d give this place another star if it wasn’t for the horrible bartenders on the night I went out with my friends. Oh and the watered down beer as well. The place is actually quite sick in terms of design, both interior and exterior. There are pool tables and a DJ Booth area and televisions line the walls for entertainment. The music, despite sounding horrible not because of the quality(I love vinyl and older music), but because it was too loud to the point of distortion, was great, as was the artwork on the walls. Since I was the designated driver for the night, I limited my consumption of alcohol to one beer. And I am glad that I did because what I tasted was watered down and not fresh brown ale(and for $ 5 what a waste!). I was disappointed because my beer tasted subpar compared to other places I am accustomed to, but then again coming from a guy who lives at Yardhouse it does not come as a surprise. The bartenders straight up sucked. I am glad one of the guys from my party decided to take back the tip money we had for them on the counter. While they were entertaining in that they were dancing and enjoying the music, they were slow with their customer service and were not friendly at all. They did not make me feel welcomed and did not seem amiable. Plus, they were not that great looking either. Perhaps the best thing about them was… meh I guess their loudness. But even that was annoying. Oh well, I will still visit this place and I will recommend it but hopefully you are greeted by better bartenders on your visit!

ok so I liked this bar until I ordered a Malibu rum and diet coke and it cAme back not what I ordered. I already had a few and I know what they taste like. what I got was not a Malibu rum and diet. when I politely told the bartender that my drink tastes strange and I don’t think it’s a Malibu, she insisted that it was. I just let it go and now I’m out 5 bucks. ps I’m writing this review while I’m still sitting in the bar. I have to say I’m disappointed that she won’t switch out my drink. it’s seriously gross.

Formerly Max Steiner’s, a storied LBC hangout! Now it’s just a boring old hole in the wall with rude ownership, lackluster staff and mediocre entertainment at best. There are so many charmingly divey bar alternatives in Long Beach. Whether you’re a patron or a band, you could do so much better.

Unfortunately my experience at this joke of a bar was not a pleasant one. My band played here the other night and were told we’d get free pitcher of beer after we finished our set only to find out, surprise surprise, the pitcher isn’t free after all but only half price. Whatever, kind of annoying but not a deal breaker, we paid half price and that was that. The real unpleasantness came when I closed at my tab at the end of the night to pay for a PBR tall boy I had ordered earlier in the night and one last beer then and there, so two beers total at $ 5 a pop. You can imagine why I was confused when the bill came back and I was being charged $ 20 for 4 beers. When I pointed out to the bartender that I was being overcharged she produced a slip of paper with my name on it and 4 tally marks and said«I’ve got you down for 4, so you owe $ 20, there’s nothing we can do». Mind you, the bar was not busy at all, there were maybe 20 people total in the entire place, so it was puzzling to me that she wouldn’t remember that I had only ordered two beers. She continued to insinuate that maybe I’d lost count of how much I had to drink and that I didn’t remember ordering two extra beers, which needless to say was insulting in the extreme. The bartender’s solution to my dilemma? First she tried to offer me another beer for free when she knew I was trying to leave, then she wrote a phone number on a piece of paper and told me to call the owner in the morning if I was unhappy, which she had the bouncer had to me in an attempt to bully or intimidate me. What stellar customer service. If you go to Blacklight District Lounge, make sure you bring cash unless you enjoy being charged double and treated like a piece of garbage for having the audacity to stand up for yourself. The only good thing about this place is the promoter who books the shows is cool, but that is where the redeeming qualities end. Save yourself the headache of dealing with the incompetence of rude bartenders and go to any of the other fabulous dives around LB.

Not sure what your crying about because the OWNER has ALWAYS been SUPERCOOL with me and I am lesbian! No reason to TRIP! I am sure some one will consider your talent elsewhere. I say this bar is fun, great drinks, cool bartenders and awesome bands! You have to stop in a play some pool and listen to bands through out the night and/or reggae DJ.

While I’m impressed at the remodeling and the increased selection of beers, I’m also a bit soured at the increase of price, and the lack of the removal of the Pool Table Hazard Post. That being said, at the time I visited, there was no band playing. Had there been a band, I could have awarded another star. The«Bouncer» is a real friendly fellow, don’t let him scare you. He does alright tattoo work, as well!

The Bar: This was one of those nights where we could not wait to go drinking. We arrived while the sun was still up, and it was a ghost town in there. 1 bartender and 1 customer. We quickly headed to the bar, ordered our first pitcher, and the rest is a blur. The bar set-up: A hollow rectangle, with roughly 20 – 30 seats and 1 walk up service station. To the right is a shuffleboard and to the left you will find the ATM, 2 pool tables and a stage. We were here two weeks ago, and an awesome Social Distortion cover… I mean«Tribute Band» by the name of Mainliner was there. The Crowd: We talked to the one guy who was there for a bit, chill dude. More heads arrived around 9 along with whatever band was going to play, we didn’t stay long enough to find out who they were. Prices: $ 10 pitchers of domestic, $ 15 import. $ 6 Fireball. Heineken, Bud Light, Budweiser, Pyramid Hefeweizen, Blue Moon, Fat Tire, New Castle on tap. Entertainment: TouchTunes, 2 pool tables, free shuffleboard, electronic dartboard, 6TV’s. Restroom: Not sure what’s up with the diamond plated décor, perhaps a piss deflector? It was clean, but poorly lit. Some stickers on the toilet seat that have been partially torn off and covered by a new one… process repeats. Bartender: Tonight was Shaina, in the industry for years, but new to this bar. She was hot and covered in tattoos! Closing statement: They call them a Rock & Roll Lounge, but it seems more like a night club. It was a cool place for sure, and we will likely be back to catch Mainliner sometime soon. This is a new bar, formerly Max Steiner’s, so they are in the process of getting their new brand out to the world. In the meantime, stop in for a beer, a free concert, and a place with No Cover Charge… EVER.
