Atmosphere: very small café with one room with table, bar top seating and tiny patio area. Ordered items: Tofu breakfast burrito and a cappuccino I enjoyed this breakfast spot, it was defiantly a cute little spot. We got some pretty good seats right in front of the grill which I thought was cool. I started off with a regular olé cappuccino, which sadly was not anything special. While I sipped on my mediocre coffee drank I waited for my burrito and noticed they they had a huge turn around at this pleasant little shop, I would think you would need a reservation on the weekends. Shortly my burrito came out, this gigantic four tortilla filled with crispy hash browns, grilled peppered veggies, soy chorizo, tofu, spicy sauces and some melted cheese oozed out of the burrito. It was fantastic to say the least. I felt as if I took 3 big bites and was defeated by this human baby sized burrito. Tip: definitely share!

Poor service, bland food, confused server… sigh. I should’ve gone across the street to Holè Mole. I waited nearly 10 minutes after being seated to even be greeted by a server. The fries were awful and my club sandwich was overpowered by the cheddar cheese. Won’t be back again.

Went with my mom and little brother, had to wait 30 minutes, but their food is worth the wait. We ordered the Mexican hot chocolate(which is just hot chocolate with whip cream and lots of cinnamon on drizzled on top lol), kids breakfast burrito(had eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese), the bowl of chicken chili, one banana walnut pancake, and the Dos Callaberos(came with fruit bowl as a side dish). When I come back I will definitely order the Dos Callaberos because of the egg Benedict!

This use to be our go to breakfast place, however our last experience there has left us disappointed. We went on a not-so-busy weekend, and waited the expected amount of time for this location, 20 – 45 mins. When they took us to our table, it was completely in the sun, at a table that wobbled uncomfortably for our entire meal. We were constantly trying to move my 2 year old son out of the sun so he wouldn’t get burned. We were not too upset though, because on a busy day they have limited seating available inside. We waited there for awhile before anyone spoke to us, and then continued to wait some more before we saw drinks, or food. By the end of our meal we were feeling abandoned, and my Fiancé had to get up to track down our server for the check. Normally our service here is great, however we were disappointed by the lack of thought that was given toward us that day. The food was also sub-par. I ordered one of their breakfast entrees and found everything to be bland and very under seasoned. After this last experience, I don’t see us coming back again.

Have kept meaning to try this place since moving back to BK. Positives: Food was great, some of the best around. Fresh and very well prepared. The service was perfect, couldn’t really ask for better, there when you needed someone and not hovering when we didn’t. People were fast, friendly, clean and offered the best that we could expect from this tiny little place. Very clean and the artwork was a pleasant visual. Negatives: No parking. And I mean none, there are probably 2 spots on the street that would technically be considered«parking» for the Blackbird. We had to walk 2 blocks. Very tiny, semi claustrophobic and the most incredibly acoustically challenged rooms I have ever been in. Price, this one I think was an error but honestly from the noise level I didn’t verify my check, I just paid it because it was so loud I was fighting the onslaught of a really bad headache. We paid 35.00 for the eggs benedict, 2 scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, 2 slices of toast, a small bowl of fruit and a coffee. Overall it’s a 4 for me and I know it’s popular and always packed. There was a large party, that eventhough there are only 6 tables in the main room, they felt the need to scream, yell and laugh at decibel levels I honestly can say I have never heard indoors at a public place before. Five young mothers with their often crying children and one out of control 3 year old that felt it necessary to run all over with no objections from her mother, or the mother’s friends. This review might sound like I am a grumpy old curmudgeon but I am not, and most of the other patrons also sat with head in hands, doing the«omg temple rubs». This really is a 5 star place for food and service but I could only give them 4 just because nothing was done about the out of control table. Not sure if I will go back, maybe I can order to go.

I love breakfast places. For the longest time I finally have the chance to come here since it has been on my bookmark and take a break from the IHOP. Yes, it is popular on the weekends so wait time was average but I wasn’t dying of hunger so no rush. There is no private parking so park in the neighborhood the next street over. I’m glad we sat at the counter cause there was plenty of space and we ordered a lot of food. Let’s first start out with the white mocha coffee that I ordered and it came in a huge bowl; not cup. So worth it and tastes soo good. The Griddlicious Combo was the best French toast I’ve had in a while with fresh cut strawberries, smoked bacon, pork sausage, and scrambled eggs. What I love about this breakfast spot is that the food was not expensive but they have generous portions. It was not a typical breakfast that you eat at a regular chain restaurant. Something about the flavor that stands out from other places. So yes, this place was 5⁄5 for me! :)

The breakfast here is one of my favorites in LB. the burritos are very delicious. The wait is usually high but well worth it. They have a very creative and expansive menu.

Came for breakfast on a weekday, sat on the patio I ordered the Calif. Omelet and my companion had the pancakes. Service was good, Pancakes are light and fully, Omelet was good to, but my complaint would be i prefer cheese inside the omelet, this omelet had cheese bacon and avocado, but was on the outside. overall it was tasty. I would probably order something other than that in the future. Another patron was having the poached egg on spinach, it looked good!

Awesome food, staff, and service! I ordered the tropical French toast and it was absolutely delicious. This is now my new addiction. I enjoy ordering French toast from different restaurants and blackbird café is by far the BEST! Even their coffee is delicious. I lost count of how many times I had my cup topped off. What I truly enjoy and appreciate the most is that their outdoor patio is very dog friendly. The waitress even brought out a water and food bowl for my pup. I thought that was very kind.

What’s not to LOVE about BLACKBIRD?!! I first found out about this hidden gem in CALIFORNIAHEIGHTS about 4 years ago when one of my friends, who is a chef, introduced it to me. I’m so glad he did. I fall in love with this cozy diner over and over each time I visit! EVERYONEMUSTTRY, the MEXICANHOTCHOCOLATE! At least once. It’s so addicting, I typically finish more than half of it before my meal arrives to the table. I admit, I have no self control when it comes to eating at BBC! Everything sounds and looks delicious on the menu! Try the White Hot Chocolate as well. I tried it for the first time today and it reminds me of white chocolate toblerone! ALWAYS, ALWAYS start off with their BENEDICTS! My top 3 choices are the Dos Caballeros, Egg Flower, and Egg Neptune! You can’t go wrong with any of the Benedicts. If I’m not feeling like Benedicts, I choose from their Daily Specials too. They change them every day. Today, I had the CINNAMONMONTECRISTO which had ham, turkey breast, bacon and Swiss cheese. all in a cinnamon swirl bread THENDIPPEDINEGGBATTER&&GRILLED. Oh my griddle, it was so delicious! If you’re hungry hungry, you can always make it to a combo for an extra $ 5.25 to add 2 eggs and 4 pieces of smoked bacon. Or share. They also have a lunch menu but I have yet to explore that. I normally come for breakfast or brunch. There’s outdoor seats available but I’ve been there, done that. The sun and breeze was nice and all but there were flies around. I didn’t want to deal with it so I stick to indoor seating. CUSTOMERSERVICE: I always get the ladies serving me. Which I don’t mind at all. There’s 2 of them that are usually there and they’re the sweetest! You can tell they know the regulars already. BBC doesn’t disappoint. WARNING: Strictly street parking only. It’s not hard to find ‘em. Everybody needs to do some type of exercise once in a while. It’s good to walk off what you just ate!

Cons: Came here on a Saturday morning and it was about 40 minute wait. Pros: it was worth the wait. I ordered eggs benedict & a hot chocolate, a hot creamy chocolately hot cholate that I still have DREAMS of!!! it tasted home made n it was full of whip, not to mention it was hugeee enough to share. The eggs benedict were the best I’ve ever tasted. Svs was great the lady was very attentive n friendly. Prices were fairly priced nothing exaggerated especially for such great food. Will definitely be back!!! Oh, and there’s NOPARKING lot it’s street parking… on a residential street. So good luck!!! But it’s very well worth it, take it from me god knows I hate to walk!

Awesome eggs Neptune, the spicy hollandaise sauce is off the chain. The shrimp are cold but in combination with the sauce, avocado and spinach it works! Will definitely be back. My cousin had the fatty patty, love it, huge had to take half home. The homemade potato chip with aioli sauce was a perfect accompaniment.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning at 10am. The wait for a table was about 20 min, but it is worth the wait! We ordered the egg flower(2 orders) and bloody Mary’s. This place is on point with breakfast to say the least. Flavors were good, friendly service, and left feeling full and happy! I’m sure we will be frequenting this place for breakfast from now on!

This place is amazing. Which I think says a lot because I’m not really a breakfast person. However, both times I’ve ate here, the food has been so tasty. The restaurant is located in California Heights which is such a cute neighborhood in itself, there was hardly a wait, but I can imagine on prime weekend days the wait would be a bit longer. I ordered the Spicy Mexican omelette made with egg whites, house fries, and an English muffin. The food was piping hot(the way I like it) and they included their house salsa on the side, which was spicy enough for me. The staff is so friendly and attentive, and a major plus, they’re on top of it with their coffee and water refills.(I’m like a camel when it comes to water.) I’ll definitely be back!

One of my best friends and I love brunch! So when she comes and visits me. it’s necessary we brunch it up! I ordered the dos caballeros since it was a highlight on Unilocal. Also I’m a huge fan of eggs Benedict! It was good and very interesting. My friend had ordered the Spanish omelette? Not too sure but it was delicious! I lowkey liked her omelette better than my order. Service was good. Our server was very attentive and made recommendations for us.

This place is Amazing. The service is great, the food selection is great. Many wonderful mouth watering choices. I can’t rave enough about their peanut buttah pancakes. How can they go wrong with peanut butter and honey on fluffy pancakes. Enough to share though, keep that in mind. The burritos are fantastic. The fruit cup or bowl is always fresh, fresh fruit. They serve bloody Mary’s, mimosas to top your brunch off perfectly. Definitely worth a try.

It was hard not to have the song stuck in my head the whole time we were here. I guess«You were only waiting for this moment to arise» is perfect for when I saw my Bloody Mary? We came here for hangover brunch, and the wait was about 30 minutes. I wish there was more seating/shade outside, but this tiny place is too popular. Once we made our way to the table, we were starving and ecstatic. My favorite thing about the menu is the clever pun item names! Seriously, great job to whoever did the menu. It’s full of breakfast foods, different omelets, burritos, and Benedicts, and creative spins on Mexican and Mediterranean dishes, as well as your traditional stuff. I went with the Langostino Lorraine omelet, which was lobster, spinach, tomatoes, and hollandaise in an omelet, with a side of hash browns(they put cheese on them for me at my request, I felt that my breakfast needed some cheese) and the house loaf bread, which was coconut today. The omelet was delicious! 99% of restaurants are stingy with seafood; we’ve all seen plates with 3 lonely shrimp… not enough for a party in your mouth… atop pasta or an omelet. This was loaded with langostino… both outside and inside! I was very happy. Breakfast drinks are available too… there is a cute coffee/tea bar, and you can get bloody marys, mimosas, pomegranate bloody marys, and all of your non-alcoholic faves. I wanted to feel better from the night before so I got the aforementioned bloody mary, which wasn’t the best I’ve had but was strong enough, spicy enough, and $ 6.95. I liked the local art for purchase all over the walls and how cozy this place feels. Our server was awesome at first(the cheese!) and I know they were busy, but paid us less and less attention throughout the meal; our water glasses were never refilled and we had to go hunting for someone when we wanted boxes and our check. I was happy with everything else, though.

We went to this little spot New Year’s Day. It was so crowded — must have been the only spot open in the area. We waited a little over an hour even though they suggested a wait of 20 minutes. I had the basic breakfast burrito because I was so hungover I couldn’t even comprehend the thought of food. By the end of the meal, it looked like a vulture ate at my plate. Even though the food wasn’t the greatest, I had to tear that shit up. I needed substance in my tummy and it got the job done. The ladies ordered alcoholic beverages(crazy bitches) which seriously only made matters worse for me. The smell was unbearable. However, the girls loved their drinks and their plates as well.

The food was delicious, definitely on the heavy side but great flavor! They have good substitutes like soy chorizo and egg whites. The hot chocolate is really yummy too! Ambiance is chill, regular café style, wait was not too long, service was great and the waiter was really nice.

Deliciousness all the way around. This café actually is very quaint and makes you feel like you’re in an actual diner. I enjoyed the coffee shop vibe. The food is remark and provokes a sense to want to order everything in the menu. My food was fresh and hot, which made me want to eat every single piece of it. The banana pancakes are so good. I know a good pancake especially banana, so this spot is definitely on point. The service was great and made me feel welcomed. Would I eat here again? YES and Y-E-S!!!

I had breakfast with my dad here one morning; usually we would go to Heritage or Sunrise nearby but I wanted to try a new breakfast spot. My dad got pancakes stuffed with coconut and other fruits, while I got the dos cabelleros, recommended to me by our waitress. The pancakes were good, but nothing spectacular. My dos cabelleros(which is like a new take on eggs benedict, using sopes instead of English muffins) was not that great. The food wasn’t served hot, and didn’t a great flavor, in my opinion. The restaurant is pretty cute, especially with artworks from local artists all around. The service wasn’t the best; we were practically the first ones there when it opened but it took forever to get someone’s attention. I know they probably were still setting up, but it still would be nice to get acknowledgment within the first 15 minutes we were there…

Had late breakfast there. Choose«the greek», an omelet with mushroom and onion, Delicious and light. Plus they had the freshest fruits as a side order. Nicely located, no parking. Staff is good, patio seating in available. It has a cozy feeling to it. A great place overall

SUNDAYBRUNCH’N at blackbird was the perfect end to last weekend! plus we got to hop over to one of my fav coffee spots across the street afterwards, Steelhead take advantage of the sidewalk seating if you can, although it’s very limited —DOSCABALLEROS: this is THE brunch dish to get. the sopes are perfectly crispy & flaky and an awesome base for the flavorful soy chorizo, definitely add avocado to this dish! it also comes with a big bowl of fruit horray —breakfast burrito #7(with added avocado and pork sausage): also YUMMY especially with the side of salsa. i wish the hash browns inside were actually browned though. another gripe: there wasn’t much avocado NOTE: they do offer bloody marys so there is more than just Beer & Wine as stated on Unilocal BUT my friend was not a fan of his drink so i guess stick to the other brunch drinks

Cute little restaurant . We went here for breakfast yesterday morning and it was pretty busy and there was a waiting list that gave us time to check the menu and decide what we were going to shared . Host was nice and polite and was trying to make sure where he sat us we were going to be confortable. Drinks :Mexican mocha and White hot chocolate both were good . Food: Dos caballeros which is basically eggs benedict not in a english muffin served like a Sope love the fact it had plenty avocado not 2 slices like someother places . Barbacoa breakfast torta was great too and for dessert we had the banana walnut pancakes they were just ok. We really liked our meals enjoyed them alot . Service was ok . Theres alot of dishes we would love to try so many options.

Came here yesterday with the guy and this was the first time I’ve ever had eggs Benedict at an actual restaurant! I got the eggs flower, because hello avocado! Their eggs were cooked to perfection, and they were perfectly circular. The only thing I wished is that they weren’t so busy. Our table was a little wobbly but other than that, I got to eat eggs Benedict! We got to sit outside which was fine with me because it was a warm day! I also got the hash browns because when I go to a breakfast/brunch place I usually like to get breakfast food! :) Overall really good food, and can’t wait to go back and try out some of their other Benedicts!
