First time there! Everything we ordered was delicious! Able to get the tail end of happy hour for the oysters and beer before dinner. Dinner was Crab, clams and shrimp and all were tasty! We will be back again very soon! Also, our server Tania was so attentive. Great food and great service!

Always good, always great service, Gumbo is a great starter especially on a cold day, the shrimp is delicious, the crawfish are good, fish tacos are really good, a small cozy spot. Deserves 5 stars even with all the seafood competition in the area.

Yes, yes, yes! Big flavor, delicious, messy, and fun. *NOTE: I will preface this review by saying that 1) I’m a midwesterner, 2) I love spicy/cajun food, and 3) do not get fresh seafood as often(without $$$) as costal regions. I’m always skeptical of mixed reviews on Unilocal(i.e., 1 star — 5 star variance), so I then lean on my food preference and experience in those situations. As a midwesterner I do not get a lot of cajun/spicy boiled or steamed seafood at reasonable prices. When I went with the higher reviews Unilocal,I decided to give Big Catch a chance. I was not disappointed! To Clarify: Happy Hour menus in Long Beach(4 — 7PM) are flipping ridiculous as each venue competes for your dollar. I’ve gladly enjoyed the receiving end of this battle and my journey to Big Catch was no different. My Monday night combination of 6 fresh oysters, two glasses of wine, garlic bread, and an entrée of shrimp + sausage brought me to $ 40 before tip. The flavor-splosion of the spicy cajun level + seafood caused my tastebuds to burn and my eyes to water a bit, but it was the best and I can still taste the seasonings as I conclude my evening. I will most definitely come back to Big Catch when I return to Long Beach in the coming months. I’m quite jealous that some locals consider this average.

Walked in Friday at 7pm and we were seated immediately. We ordered a pound of shrimp(spicy), the Cajun seafood pasta, and the Cajun fries. The Cajun fries were decent, they were just normal fries though and I wouldn’t say there was anything special about them. The shrimp was good, but they weren’t spicy at all-I wondered how the mild would’ve tasted if the spicy was only somewhat spicy. As for the Cajun seafood pasta, it tastes good at first and then eventually became much too heavy for me-there was too much going on since it was cheesy and had a strong seafood flavor(but I guess that’s what it was going for). Honestly I was really confused by the ambiance because I wasn’t sure if it was okay to be peeling our shrimp like savages when the table next to us was sipping wine. This place was just a fancier version of Boiling Crab to me, and it was hard to transition between peeling my shrimp and then eating the pasta with my fork(so messy). The service was great though and we were helped quickly and with no complaints. Overall this place just seemed like an overpriced Boiling Crab and I would probably just go there instead.

Loved this place. It’s simple, delicious and healthy. I came with my sister on a weeknight for dinner and we happened to stop in during happy hour… they have several wine/beer specials on happy hour so of course we took advantage, I wanna say it was like $ 5.00 a pop. It’s very modern and casual inside and the service is excellent. We shared a couple of the tacos(small but delicious) and a fish plate that came with rice and zucchini. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. I will definitely come back here to try more of the menu, but so far I’m impressed.

My coworker and I used their«pick-up» service. Phone in our Order, the person that helped me was helpful. The food was ready within 30 minutes. The food were still warm. I had the tilapia plate. It was good. My coworkers order their dirty rice and the portion was a lot for 9 bucks. It felt like a pound and more. My other coworker that order the snow crab Leg, he said tasted fresh, so he enjoyed it with the gumbo. Overall a good experience with the big catch. We will order lunch from them again.

Came here for lunch since we were in the area. Most people would call this place a Boiling Crab wannabe, but I prefer this spot over boiling crab for many reasons. Reason 1: No wait. We arrived around 1230pm on a Saturday and were greeted and seated immediately. Please let me know when a Boiling Crab location has no wait. Reason 2: Seafood. Yes, Boiling Crab also has crab, shrimp, crawfish, etc but this place offers some FRESH seafood. You can literally see it. Reason 3: Sauce. It is thicker, more flavorful and less oily than Boiling Crab. Every time after I eat Boiling Crab I have a date with the toilet, but after a meal here I felt fine. Reason 4: Food. Not only do they serve what Boiling Crab offers, but they also have lobster rolls, fried brussels sprouts, fried zucchini and other amazing menu items. Reason 5: Gloves when you eat and warm towel after you’re done?! Yes. Big Catch over Boiling Crab

I saw the oysters in reviews, so when my pal Jennifer N suggested we have a Holiday Dinner with yfs, I said lets go to the LBC! Mike B also joined us. Big Catch is on Broadway & Tribune in DTLBC(next to Wokano), and offers seafood as the main fare. We ordered 2 ½ dozen Kumiai CA oysters($ 15/dozen — HH), two orders of fried calamari($ 8), and the Family Special($ 89.95 | lobster, king crab legs, mussels, shrimp, clams, crawfish, corn, sausage, and potatoes. To drink, Mikey and I had some of the HH beer for $ 4. First of all, the oysters were very good. Kumiai are medium sized oysters, and all were fresh except one. We were able to eat the 2 ½ dozed oysters in half an hour(we arrived @ 6:30, and HH is from 4 to 7). I ate most of them: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the calamari was decent. There was a fair amount for the price, and they came out hot. The only downside was batter was a bit heavy: 3 Stars. Lastly, the seafood was tasty. It wasn’t cooked in a bag compared to Viet/Cajun joints, and there was plenty of garlicky sauce(sweating garlic for daze). My fave items were the lobster and shrimp: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, it was nothing to speak of. There were long tables, and a few smaller tables. However, I don’t remember seeing a bar. BTW parking is validated, but it still cost me $ 3.75 to park for 2 ½ hours(kind of a gyp): 3 Stars. On the other hand, the service from Nicky was very good. She was friendly, informative and proactive. The only downside(not Nicky’s issue), was there were no paper towels at the table. We had to keep asking for napkins: 4 Stars. I know of no place of this genre serving high quality oysters like Big Catch. Most of the Viet/Cajun places have oysters of dubious quality. I am definitely a fan, and plan on returning soon!

I love that there’s a good place nearby so I don’t have to trek all the way to boiling crab. What I love about this place is that they always have specials. Also, I love that they have specials for free shrimp and stuff. Jump on it! We ordered the 4 person special, which basically has everything except king crab, and it was filling without having to roll us out. Sides are not too expensive, but it adds up. I feel like every seafood boil has to go with corn and something fried. I wasn’t too happy that my side of corn in the FAMILYMEAL came with 1 piece… A half piece seriously? I enjoyed the zucchini fries, but the sweet potato ones didn’t have any flavor for me. I honestly think they just forgot to put salt on it? But overall this place is good. What I love about this versus BC is that you don’t get overwhelmed with salt and oils. It’s the perfect amount. Of course you get a ton of salt, but not to the point where you have to avoid salt for the next 3 days to get it out of your system. I like the spice, salt, and overall flavor of their boil. But guys, don’t sell those oysters anymore. They’re not good. I want to come back and try the lobster roll! Also, thank you for giving me the key lime pie ice cream dessert. It’s light, refreshing, and a fun take on a classic dessert.

I’m from the valley & live hot & juicy & kickin kasian. We were looking for something to satisfy our craving & found this place. Cajun shrimp: really good!!! Crawfish: small, needed a little more flavor but still good. Crab legs: they weren’t meaty so I was a little disappointed. If you’re looking to get messy & eat this is the place in LB. Our server was awesome & we checked in for the ½ lb of Cajun shrimp so that was awesome.

I would say this was a great restaurant for seafood. It’s similar to Boiling Crab but I opted out and ordered deep fried oysters and charbroiled salmon with rice. Oh, hey also validate parking here! There’s a parking garage nearby so make sure to take advantage of that. The deep fried oysters were amazing. Squeeze the lemon over it and dip it in the sauce that came with it! The charbroiled salmon was all right. It came with rice and the rice was pretty bland. It also came with zucchini. Would I come back here? Yeah I would!

Not sure why we haven’t come here before! We first started with half a dozen baja oysters, then my wife and I had a pound of Cajun shrimp, a pound of lemon butter mussels, garlic toast, and deep fried Brussels sprouts. The shrimp were very good. «Spicy» was just spicy enough, but not over powering, but the sauce did make it a mess to eat. Next time, I would probably do the Cajun sauce on the mussels, and keep the shrimp to lemon and butter. Mainly to make it easier to eat. Service was attentive, place was clean, seafood was fresh. What took us so long to come here! Coming back soon.

Just opened seafood spot … We were just around the area and I was craving for seafood so we decided to give it a try … Tip: park in the parking structure … The restaurant will validate the ticket for you. They have happy hour … A glass of wine for $ 4 and oysters for $ 1.25 … Definitely go with a dozen oysters to start. They are so sweet and juicy! I absolutely love it! Next … We ordered a pound of crawfish with extra side of corn, a pound of shrimp… garlic butter flavored. Lobster roll, and noodles… Very filling and delicious! Check out the photos! Promotion right now: Bill over $ 50 not including happy hour items get a pound of shrimp to go home :) lunch for the next day!

I came here around 6pm on a Friday night. There was only one other party, so it was fairly empty. If you have back problems(like I do), try to find somewhere else to eat. When I walked in, I scanned the restaurant and became immediately sad when I realized they didn’t have actual chairs. They only have picnic benches, so there’s no back support. My friends and I ordered the Cajun rice($ 10), clam chowder($ 6), and Cajun fries(I didn’t try this). The rice was good but nothing special. Thought it was priced nicely considering the amount of seafood they put into it. They just need to figure out how to put more flavor in it because it was a little bland. It was a cold day by California standards, so I really wanted some soup. My clam chowder came out, and instead of hot soup, I got something similar to a bowl of fat. The consistency was just too thick for my taste. I’ve never had clam chowder that resembled gelatin, but that’s what I got. It was also room temperature when it arrived at our table, so that made it even worse. We told our waitress and she sent it back to the kitchen where they heated it up. The texture was a little better when they brought out a hot version. Overall, it was the most pleasant dining experience; however, most of my issues could be because of my personal preference. But if you like sitting with no back support and lukewarm bowls of fat pretending to be soup, this might be the place for you.

Was craving for something spicy after clay making so I Unilocaled and found this place. This place is SOGOOD! This place is similar to Boiling Crab but with better quality of food/service and less waiting time.(Well price is a bit higher but trust me, it is worthy) We got seated as soon as we entered and greeted nicely by friendly waitress. Food Shrimp Catch with Cajun Sauce, Corn and Potato 5 Star The Cajun sauce here was definitely better than BP. It was spicy, garlicic and flavorful. They also provided us a glove so we don’t get our hands dirty. The shrimp and food came on a silver bowl and it was way much easier to eat on this than on plastic bag! I always felt messy when eating in BP but this place definitely don’t make me feel that way. Absolutely delicious food. OMG my mouth is literally salivating while thinking about it. The corn and potato was immersed in the sauce well that they were both super flavorful. This dish was just so bomb! Gumbo 3 Star It is my first time trying gumbo. Honestly it was okay. The broth was not rich enough and rice was a little dry. I prefer to have more flavor for the broth. Fried Brussel Sprouts 4.5 This dish was absolutely delicious. Brussel sprout was so crispy while not over cooked. I love how it made the crunchy noise whenever I took a bite, I felt like having brussel sprout chips! This was out starter and it definitely opened my appetite after this. After dining, they gave us nice warm cloth to clean our hands. At this point, I felt like a happy fat kid with clean hands and full stomach. Definitely will come back. Big Catch Seafood you rock the food. I wish I live closeby!

They don’t take reservations for less than 6 people, but my party of 4 came here and it wasn’t crowded at all. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. $ 1.25/oyster during happy hour, so we got a dozen. They were small, but pretty good. No complaints here! My boyfriend got the regular shrimp pasta($ 10), which was pretty good. I’m not a pasta fan, but this one had a lot of flavor– my boyfriend enjoyed it. I had the soft shell crab burger, which was super good for $ 11. It was a nice mixture of sweet and crunchy. It wasn’t too savory, which mixed well with the sweet buns. I’d order it again. The zucchini fries($ 4) were very good! I’m a zucchini fan! It was perfectly battered. This place is similar to Boiling Crab/Kickin Crab, but more upscale and flavorful. Free 1.5 hour parking validation if you park in the structure next to it.

This review has nothing to do with the service or food. Those two aspects of this establishment are always spot on. The only reason for this lone star review is solely because on my last visit, I checked in on Unilocal as I always do and an offer came up which I wanted to use. I was told by the server that the restaurant no longer honored that promotion. I feel that this is unacceptable. Even if the offer states it is for a Limited Time, it’s the restaurant’s responsibility to either take down the offer so it doesn’t mislead the public, or simply honor the offer. It’s not about saving a buck or two, but about doing what is right. I should of brought it up to the managers attention but he’s just a drone following orders as well and would of given me the run around, I assume.

Hello Unilocalers! Big Catch has a great Happy Hour from 3−6pm and Sun-Thur 9pm-closing and Weekend 10pm-closing. Try the brussels sprouts, they’re definitely my go to item. My favorites are the $ 4 beers, $ 1.25/oysters, and 50% off the 2nd pound of shrimp when you check in. I love the atmosphere and their sake selections pair amazingly well with their selection of oysters! The staff and manager are super friendly. This is a usual spot for me on the weekends. Pros 1) Fantastic Happy Hours. 2) Prices can’t be beat. 3) Oysters are always shucked cleanly and served on a bed of ice with horse radish and tar tar sauce. 4) Fried foods tastes clean and well seasoned. 5) Family style. Cons: 1) Use of frozen shrimp and crawfish. 2) Some shrimps were mushy, which was a no eat zone. Happy Sharing!

One of the few places you can dine at with 2 hour free validation for the parking structure next to it. My friend order the clams with 3 sake shots for $ 10, this sounded like a great idea at the time, but the sake shots + unlimited sangria from the restaurants prior really tipped us over! I was left throwing up my life for the next 5 hrs! Regardless it was a fun time!
