Accelerated Flight Training

AFTC did my IFR and my Commercial Pilot ratings. I completed my CFI ground school too but had to return to work before I finished. They were happy to accommodate me to finish up when I have time. Great school, great instruction.

Quality of training is good. However, AFTC seems to like to charge people based on how wealthy or financially stable they think you are. I spent well over 15k on several ratings with this school. Most recently, a multi commercial add-​on. There was another individual in my class, so we shared the same instructor. They charged that individual $ 1600 less than I was charged. We completed the same rating in the exact same amount of time and hours. When I asked about it, I received a incredibly unprofessional, emotion-​filled email response. They stated I paid for a package. Ok, then why is a «package» different prices for different people? Anywhere else, a package is priced to be the same for everyone, hence the «package». I really was shocked that a business would respond the way they did. AFTC placed the blame on me because of my «schedule». Funny thing is, they knew about my «schedule» 3 – 4 weeks in advance.
When I arrived in CA and went to AFTC on my first day, I waited over an hour for my instructor to show up. The instructor was never even told he was working with me that day. Then, I was told my checkride was scheduled for 5 days later and that’s all there was available for a month. Complete lack of organization. Blame was later placed on me for my schedule and that I «made the instructor work on his days off». Last I checked, AFTC’s email to me stated that they would work with me to get it finished in time for the checkride. I fail to see how that is my fault.
In one of the emails I received, I was told «You wouldn’t walk in to a steakhouse and eat a steak dinner, and then expect to pay what you thought it was worth». Laughable response. Fact is I was charged for 15 hours multi time, and I only flew 9. Think that’s fair? I certainly don’t, especially when other people are paying less for the same thing. Stay away unless you want to get taken advantage of financially.

This is an Aviation Flight School scam! We were charged $ 22K for an original $ 18K — 17 day program incorporating the Instrument/​Commercial/​Multi-​engine ratings. 33 days later and only one rating and $ 4K of unauthorized charges to our CC AND with no end in sight we finally pulled the plug on this school. There is no simulator, groundschool training aids or computer based training as advertised on their website. This school has no training structure or integrity in their schedules. Beware!
