This is, by far, one of the best wine tasting experiences we have ever had. Alisha, the sommelier was so attentive and truly knows her stuff. She made the experience! The wine is incredible, I wanted to walk out with every single one I tasted. We joined the wine club too! This place is frequented by the locals, so that in itself tells you a lot. You will not be disappointed! We will be back time and time again!

Palmina is awesome. I’ve been coming to the Santa Ynez valley for the last 4+ years, 3 — 5 times a year for the last 2 years. I always make a stop into the tasting room. Palmina staff are always very help and informative. On occasion they sponsor a new smaller vineyard and let them showcase their products. Palmina is a great representation of the«All for One» attitude displayed by Santa Ynez vintners. Oh and their wine is great. If they are poring it, try the sparkling reds. Went in for a tasting and wound up leaving with dinner, after dinner and next days wines. See you guys soon to restock.

I had a great tasting today at Palmina. The lovely wine educators took me on an awesome journey through many delicious varietals. Most are estate grown Italian varietals that aren’t found in many local AVA’s. Since this fruit in so rare, it’s a must to visit and try this amazing wine.

Great wines at palmina. I like the rare varietals they have to choose from that you don’t see much of very often. I was helped by a new girl named Tanya and she made me feel very welcomed and was very informative. She had a great personality and was carrying good conversation with the customers. I would recommend this place to anybody who enjoys great wines and a good time. P. s. The savoia is amazing!

While in the ghetto stop at Palmina wine. Fun, friendly, knowledgeable people. This was one of my favorite spots to enjoy a few tasting rich wines.

Who knew there was a wine ghetto in Lompoc? While it’s not exactly the«Sideways» scene over here, the unique European varietals on the tastings are worth a trip: a mineral Malvasia Bianca with a resiny whiff and solid structural minerality, a brambly cherry forward Nebilio, a Subida with notes of straw(?!) These may be a bit more sophisticated than my palate(prefer strong vanilla, tobacco middle, dark cherry plum forward, silky mouthfeel with earthy loam notes). European style wines with strong herbal and terroire profiles a bit beyond me yet. I did like the rough-hewn wood décor and warm pumpkin walls and thoughtful savory cheese spread.

Palmina Winery’s tasting room is a must visit stop when in the Wine Ghetto. The last couple of years there has been a turn over in staff who poured. My recent trip saw a vast improvement. Bonnie Pommerville, the Tasting Room manager and her staff made sure everyone was taken care of even as the Tasting Room became hectic. With so many choices of wine you will find something you like.

Love everything about this tasting room, from the variety of wines to the music to the tasting room server. Such a laid back vibe and fun place to taste. Who doesn’t love wine growlers?

I found my favorite wines here. The pinot grigio was AMAZING!!! And I’m a red wine cab drinker. The nebbiolo was delicious but they 3 diff kinds. I like how they put on events making recommendations for food and they sell the ingredients to boot. That’s taking it to next level. Love it! I’m awful at remembering names but the blonde woman who just started working there was very knowledgeable was super helpful. All is all makes for great atmosphere.

Great place and amazing customer service! Today they had guest winery Soliminer, which was a surprisingly good small winery from Los Olivos. I really enjoyed the wines at Pamina but what made this experience is the friendly staff. They provided great service and added an extra special touch by giving roses during Valentine’s Day which made me know they appreciate their customers even during the hectic weekend. Great wines + awesome customer = happy customer in my book!

I’m not sure which I like more: the wines made by Palmina or the ideas and inspirations behind them. Wine drinkers all love to have good stuff in the glass, but if it were only about a quality consumer item at an affordable price(regardless of how that price was reached), we’d all be shopping at box stores or picking our wines exclusively by the numbers. But we don’t. We trust our instincts and try to forget about what we think wine country looks like. We use a Home Depot store as a visual landmark to guide us to world-class wine in Lompoc. We imagine what a delicious, food-friendly red will add to an already excellent homemade Italian meal. We tend to our bottle collections in utility closets, laundry rooms, and dark cellars, visiting them every few months to wipe off the dust, admire the artistry on the label, or reminisce about that Thanksgiving visit to Paso or summer weekend in St. Helena when that particular bottle was acquired. Maybe we even dream about places like Puglia or Piedmont or Alto Adige, where we’ve been or read about. And we drop our inhibitions, leave our pretenses at the door, close our eyes, and try something new. Grüner Veltliner. Ribbon Ridge Riesling. Snake River Syrah. Stillwater Creek Viognier. Blauer Zweigelt. Aglianico del Vulture. Or a Malvasia Bianca($ 20 range), whose enigmatic aromas entice you in ways that few white wines can. And an ethereal small-batch Merlot($ 50 range) from the Santa Inez Valley that will knock your socks off and make you curse the day you ever watched Sideways and laughed at that line, because Miles obviously had never been to the Ghetto nor tried Palmina, where he’d have fallen in unrequited love with Nebbiolo rather than Noir. But maybe that will happen in the sequel. I suppose that you’d rather stick to familiar territory when in Santa Barbara wine country, where windmills spin, kringles are consumed, and ostriches roam. But if you’re enamored by the idea of wine as much as the item itself, then you’ll want to make time for Palmina, even if you don’t bother to study Steve’s backstory or have the pleasure of tasting with a server as sharp and sophisticated as Jamie. You can always fill a growler of rosso for the beach or campground instead of the higher-end super reds, or pick up a rosado or two when it’s warmer here than in winter. But you should give the Santa Barbara-meets-Italian wines thing a try. It’s not a flash in the pan. It’s not a pet project on the part of a successful celebrity winemaker. It’s about family, heritage, food, and fun. A chance to roll the dice, to wait for the next big wave at Mavericks, to see what Morro Rock looks like from the summit of Cerro Alto. You may be confused at first with the names and styles, esp. if you’re not into Italian artisan wines. But this is where to come to widen your wine-tasting world, to marvel at the bright cherry of Barbera that flirtatiously kisses you from the glass, to be astounded by what you can do with Pinot Grigio besides make it taste like lemons, and to savor the flavors imparted by three years in Slovenian oak. The next time you make that batch of red flint polenta and grilled tenderloin, or serve that pine nut scented gnocchi, or plate that fresh batch of Dungeness crab dill risotto, you’ll want to have a wine like Palmina ready and waiting to be poured.

The Traveling Winers on California Wine Trail Another fine tasting room experience in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto! All of The Traveling Winers were by now getting somewhat more comfortable with this«wine tasting room in an industrial park setting» thing, although we still prefer the fully romantic version complete with vineyards and working winery. However, what we learned quickly on this trip, this being the 4th industrial park setting tasting room, is that the experience can still be quite exceptional if the staff have that contagious passion for the business and are knowledgeable about the wines and the winery, if the tasting room is decorated in such a way as to enhance the tasting experience and bring about the romantic flair, and if the wines are yummy delicious! And this is what we found at Palmina Wines. We initially met with Jamie, host, who was getting slammed by all the folks coming in on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Within a short time, relief showed up in the form of Alejandro, the tasting room manager. And that is when things started poppin’! Alejandro really took us through the flight of wines in such an extraordinary way, explaining the wines, the vineyards, etc. When it came to the Nebbiolo wines, since there were a number of them, he actually poured the 2007 and 2008 side by side so that we could clearly taste the difference. We love it when a host can bring it down to our level of simplicity! Their wines here are very, very nice! This winery has been open since 1995, being the 2nd winery to open in the Wine Ghetto. They have about 350 acres(obviously outside of town) and grow 21 varietals, producing 20,000 cases, mainly Pinot Grigio and Dolcetto. The Traveling Winers would definitely come back to Palmina Wines and would encourage you to do the same! This was a great experience and worth doing again! The Traveling Winers at The Vineyard Trail

Back in SYV and dropped in on Palmina. Still serving great wines. They also have«tap wine» now as well. Bottles or growlers(like a beer version) available. Had to do it!

We have been members here for a few years now. The best part about being a member is going to the pickup parties. The owner is a chef, and the food(at pickup parties for members) is always on point! The staff are super friendly and it is surrounded by other wine tasting rooms in the wine ghetto. Make a day of it.

Actually this was the best winery of the entire trip! This was our last stop in the wine ghetto and my bf and I got the classic tasting, but decided it was so good we went with the artisanal one as well. This was actually one of the largest wine tasting rooms that we had seen, they actually had a table for sitting down, as well as the tasting area. We didn’t see the owners, but the guy who was working there explained that the owners were very focused on wine and italian food. There was a little table with some salami, little squares of parmasean cheese(those were my favorite), bread sticks and their pasta sauces. I LOVED their marinara it was so flavorful(probably a little drunk too). Bf loved the Arrabiata sauce(marinara with a little spice) and though it was $ 10, we ended up getting a bottle. They also have dried pasta, olive oils, etc for sale as well. The classic was good, we ended up getting a bottle of Malvesia which was a white. I’ve never experienced such floral notes in wines before. When I was taking a whiff of the Malvesia, I felt like I was in a field of flowers and also drinking it. It was amazing. We had a bottle and when I enjoyed it at home it was just as floral wishing I had picked up more… Towards the very end, after all our tastings, the guy offered us a glass of a dessert white wine that was very port-ish and almost tasted like brandy it was so strong. There was a biscotti soaking in it, and that sweet brandy biscotti taste did not leave my mouth that day for hours. It was the single best thing I had tasted. I had an amazing tasting at Scott Cellars with a piece of chocolate but MAN! This was better. Also appreciated that the guy didn’t charge us for any tastings. It should have been free because we had the list from Hadsten House but we got a classic and an artisanal tasting for free! Will absolutely be back next time, this was just delightful!
