I agree with someone that posted last year. We were in town on a business trip and decided to give this place a shot cuz of the good reviews. This is a great place for high school students if they don’t want school lunch to come here. Average sandwiches. No special twist in them. Same thing if you made them at home. I support small businesses but they got to have something about them that bring you back for more. I’ll be nice and just say it’s a place for high school students. Would make sense because the high school is across the street. Still hungry after my meal though lol.

We all hear the saying«a great little hole in the wall» but few ever live up to the saying. Pj’s Deli is one such shop that does, with a list of sandwiches that are named after the Military town you can find it in. It offers a quiet atmosphere with all the feeling of a mom and pop’s deli. It’s a must have for the local or someone just passing through.

PJ’s serves up yummy sandwiches prepared using fresh ingredients. I’m partial to the«Perfect Turkey» and my husband generally gets the«Carwash.» This is a small, family-run operation and it won’t take long before you’re greeted by name!

I dont give out many 5 star ratings. But P. J’s deserves this. Frist the food is good. You get just enough to fill you up and not wanting more. I got the deluxe sandwich. Its just messy enough to enjoy and still walk away clean after. Next is the environment, the staff is very friendly and up on whats happening in the community. This is an all around good place to eat. If your ever driving through lompoc, make sure to stop by. They are located behind jack in the box. Last, the cherry on top is that they have free WiFi. I will be coming back more often and i think you should too.

VERY mediocre at best. The bread on their sandwiches are a let down. I’m not the only one that says this. Read previous comments about the matter. The most basic sandwich being a BLT was not great. It consisted of cold pre-cooked bacon, like the kind of bacon that all the pieces look exactly the same which raises a brow. I have gave this place a chance and have gone twice and both times it has let me down. I’m honestly surprised, it has this many stars, but I suspect some good reviews this place gets are from the students from the local high school which get sandwiches for $ 3 with their student discount.

I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars… A few days ago, I was in the area and in need of a quick lunch spot. I jumped on Unilocal and found this deli. After reading the menu, I chose the Lieutenant sandwich, consisting of: hot pastrami, melted provolone, cream cheese, mayo, avocado, lettuce and olives. The sandwich was served on your super market variety french roll — not the kind from the deli, but the six little soft ones you get in the plastic bag — the amount of pastrami was pathetic, literally a three slices, a ton of lettuce and two slivers of avocado. For such high recommendations, this place really underperformed and left me leaving hungry and underwhelmed. I’d suggest something else for lunch if in the area. 2-stars: «Meh, I’ve experienced better.»

I’m a huge fan of PJ’s! I’m not a native Lompoc-ian but my bf is and when he took me here a few years ago, I was so delighted at how fresh the ingredients were and how friendly the staff was. We recently moved back to Lompoc and I was so glad that they’re still here and still making their fresh subs with a smile! I especially love their Italian dressing that they offer on their subs and I’ll admit that I’ll ask for extra to use with other food at home! It’s not too oily or vinegar-y and still has a lot of flavor that makes it so you don’t need to smother the bread with mayo or other heavier dressing. Yes, parking is a little complicated, what with the car wash next door… but I have no problem parking on the street. Especially if you’re just stopping in to take your sammich to go — they can get your order done real quick.

two things matter here — local and good! PJ’s is family owned & operated sandwich place. No where else in town compares & if you are lucky, sometimes on Friday or Saturday you can catch them open late night. They have added trip tip that they BBQ on location and they will make things into a wrap as well. I promise you will not get a bad avocado here!!! A couple other secrets about this gem… they have the really good crushed ice & they have pretzels with a little cheese cup. PJ’s also offers catering, delivery, & trays if you need too. regular sandwich, jumbo soda & a bag of chips will run you about $ 9 bucks.

Okay everyone, let’s quiet down now and have a seat! I understand your excitement, so let’s not waste any time! Ahem… I would like to welcome you aboard the fabled WABAC Machine, on loan for today only through the generousity and kindness of the incomparable, ingenious Mr. Peabody himself. Sherman, set the WABAC machine to Lompoc, California, 1985. {=1985==== {========= {========= {========= {========= {=====2013= There it is: P.J.‘s Deli… Family-owned and –operated since 1982, and it’s still going strong after 31 years. Haha, yes, that’s a Miller’s Outpost across the street! Some places aren’t so lucky. I was a pimply-faced sophomore with a taste for Boingo and a less-than-impressive«B» average at Lompoc High at the time. In fact, there I am – the one with the pegged Button-Fly’s and Nike Air Force 1’s – sauntering over to P.J.‘s with my buddies! The best sandwiches in Lompoc, bar none! Uh oh, see the girl with the pretty smile behind the counter? She’s the reason I got to know P.J.‘s in the first place. She sees me. She already knows what I want: «The Margaret», turkey & ham on sourdough with everything. I swear I must have eaten an easy 100 of them, maybe more. Anyway, she’s on it. I’m asking her to name it «The Craig» from now on, since I’m a regular and all. She always says«no” – for some reason my name doesn’t sound as appetizing, I guess – but she’s laughing anyway. That’ll do! I’ll ask again tomorrow. =] =1985===} ========} ========} ========} ========} ========} 2013 P.J.‘s Deli… what great memories… what great sandwiches… «The Margaret», by the way, was designed by an aunt. It’s no longer on the menu, but I’ve recently spoken to the family, and there is full intention to bring it back. I’m thinking of starting a petition to call it «The Craig», but maybe it’s better – after second thought – that it re-emerges as is. Currently, there is no online menu, but there is a Facebook page: . Tri-tip on Sourdough, Roast Beef & Cheddar, The Joeboo Special, Hot Pastrami & Turkey with Pepperjack: I’m sure that these deli favorites have already made their marks as well, become a significant part of others’ pasts… and presents. Visiting my hometown is sort of like taking a trip back in time, though. Thank you for joining me on this blast to my past on this way cool WABAC. I’d like to thank Mr. Peabody and his boy, Sherman. Nostalgia is a curious thing, I suppose. I hadn’t been back to Lompoc in years, but I can tell you this: enjoying another great P.J.‘s sandwich – in particular, «The Margaret” – is my priority. It’s part of my history, a «classic,» that sandwich. It doesn’t have to change, thankfully. Some things don’t. Maybe that’s why we’re drawn to them. I’m sure you have something that takes you back as well. Take a ride. =]

Decent deli, but the location and parking leave something to be desired. Great, friendly service from the owner and his Colombian mom in the kitchen. I got the«Perfect Turkey» sandwich, includes avocado on sourdough. We were in Lompoc for my son’s football game and glad we found this place. I think it’s probably the best deli in Lompoc, but I don’t live there so I’m not sure.

I had the hot pastrami and it was good for the $ 3. I think the pricing here is great for Lompoc. So far I like what I have had. Worth trying and better then the other hole in the wall sandwich shops in town

I tried this place for the first time today. Got a Reg sz. TriTip Sandwich and bag of chips for just under $ 8. The price was average, not the best value. The sweet girl and sweet older lady behind the counter asked if I wanted it «deli» style or with just salsa or bbq. Being overwhelmed, I opted for just salsa. The older lady putting the sandwich together was so sweet and asked me if I was sure that’s what I wanted. I quickly changed my mind and asked for the“deli” style”; I’m glad I did. The sandwich was tasty and the tri-tip was not overcooked and had good seasoning. If you’ve ever had BBQland in SM, this tri-tip sandwich is 10X better. The place is a small family owned deli. The décor is old but it feels very homey. The owners and employees were genuinely friendly. This will be my new deli in Lompoc since I have yet to find one I love. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and fellow Unilocalers.
