I haven’t been here for years, but last night I was hankering for some late night sushi with the family. Its been a while, but its very obvious that the interior has gone through a recent remodel. The interior is modern and clean with a giant fish bowl demo sushi station where you can watch the magic happen. We ordered udon for the kids, Sushi combo with maguro tuna, sake salmon, escolar, hamachi yellowtail, and albacore tataki. We also ordered a laker roll, and spicy tuna roll, with an a la carte order of hamachi toro and one of my favorites amaebi. Now, this isn’t sushi boy /supermarket sushi. The fish is fresh and portions on the larger size. Sure the cuts aren’t all perfect, and the presentation not avante garde, but the food is good, and the price is honest. All the nigiri was great, the toro awesome. The amaebi was nice and sweet, and they deep fried the heads, yes. The dashi for the udon was great, the kids love that. The seasoning for the spicy tuna is predominantly siracha, which didn’t make my wife too happy as that is usually her favorite. The Laker Rolls is impressive looking, but the sauce dominates the palate. You could easily put all the stuff on a leather strap and it’ll taste the same. Such a waste of fish. It is filling tho! All in all, fresh fish, good prices, clean interio, good service, I’ll be coming back.

We live down the street, so the bf and I decide to try this place out. The atmosphere was good and lively, the service was superb, but the food was just ok. We ordered $ 100 worth of rolls, but none really stood out. If I’m really craving sushi, then I’ll come back, but if not, then I’ll stick to Joes Sushi in Lakewood.

Love love the lunch special, 50% off! I would have given a 5-star, but they shaved the lunch special menu down. The fish is fresh, the food comes out quick and is delicious!

Unilocal 100 Challenge 2016 — Review 3 of 100… I have passed by this place numerous times and never paid it any attention. It’s not hard to miss as it is tucked into the northeast corner of the shopping plaza on PCH and Narbonne, closer to the Eshelman side. I have frequented this plaza for the 99 Cents Only Store and Big Lots so I felt a little silly after Seth(my male version of Siri) lead me to where I have often parked. It’s much cuter on the inside than the outside/home plaza would let on. It’s dim and has a huge projector on one side of the restaurant and a small television(I only noticed one, though I didn’t go out of my way to look for more) on the parallel wall. It’s dark and kinda sexy. Very different than what I would have imagined in this plaza. I am not sushi connoisseur — I am weird about cooked fish so imagine my pickiness about raw seafood. I ordered the Philadelphia Roll, which came with miso soup, and received the free edamame my Unilocal check-in earned me. The sushi was okay… it was a little fishier than I prefer. The edamame was good and so was the soup. The service is the all-star here. I was, primarily, served by a mild-tempered young man who was kind and checked on me just enough times. Another young man came to the table and asked if all was okay and if I wanted more food. The sushi-making bar had about four people behind it who kept smiling and the staff was very able to watch and enjoy the Super Bowl game and service the customers at the same time. This is an option I will keep in mind for sushi close to home until I find my fave sushi place…

Was our first time at this place, I was so excited to try the lexus roll, the time on line was kinda short The service of the people was normal don’t expect to much about the customer service! ! The taste of the food was good; the only thing disappointed me was about the water they gave us, I know we didn’t pay for it but at least they should give us drinking water not tap water nasty flavor! !

Great sushi place in the south bay area. Fresh and tasty. Been coming here for many years and keeps improving. Price is reasonable for the quality. Not cheap but not over prices They have different happy hour specials for afternoon and night. Friendly service Does get busy on weekends… that means it’s good :)

2 stars is generous. Good food but the service is so horrendous that I would never spend my money here again. 1) Forgot my drink 3 times. I said I wanted cherry coke. Waitress comes back with all other drinks except a drink for me. I say«excuse me — are you bringing my cherry coke?». She says«Oh. You didn’t order one. Did you?» I said«yes I did.» She goes and disappears for another 10 minutes. By now, our party has received our appetizers. It is my biggest pet peeve to receive food without a drink, not even water. I sit there and wait some more, flagging down the waitress again. I ask her«Did you forget my cherry coke?». She says«You wanted a cherry coke?». I’m just like OMG at this point. I’m thinking — no, actually I just wanted to sit here and not have any drink at all, not even water offered. I wait another 10 minutes. I am not even kidding. Meanwhile, this ruined my mood when you’re the only person out of 7 who can’t get a drink to wash down the food! I get it that they are understaffed, but it’s not the customer’s problem, and then don’t act like you are being inconvenienced for the customer asking for something they ordered and planned on paying for! To be fair, they ended up «comping» the cherry coke. Ha. 2) When we got our appetizers, we weren’t given any utensils or plates. The appetizers sat out getting cold, as we waited some more… 3) It was pulling teeth the rest of the visit to get any help. At one point we wanted to order more sushi. The waiter said he would get our waitress. Well, she never came. They lost out on a couple more orders of sushi rolls, because we were just annoyed at this point. 4) I understand we had a party of 7 which involves a service charge typically, but WOW — this was the most undeserving 18% service charge ever. I am going to make it a point to never return. What a shame, we use to be regulars before the remodel. My husband even had his photo on the wall for completing one of their food challenges. Never again.

I am a regular at this restaurant, once a week maybe more! I honestly can NOTGETENOUGH!!! I’ve tried other sushi joints, they’re good, but NOTHING compares to the taste and style of these sushi rolls. I recommend this place to everyone I know who likes sushi, because I know they will not be disappointed! People who don’t like sushi, I bring them here give them one roll(the Harley Davidson Roll) and automatically they like become the biggest sushi addict like me! The lunch special is a great deal! It’s always packed, which is the only thing I can possibly complain about! But other than that 5 stars is what this place deserves!

Sushi without the delight. I am actually being quite generous giving two stars. Previous experiences have been great exception to this time. Took my cousins and a foreign visitor here and it was just an embarrassing experience. Not delightful at all. We had three different severs, late drinks, wrong orders, it was a mess. What was really annoying is that we got our sushi before we had plates. The food was good and didn’t reflect the disorganization and errors that came with the service. I was really disappointed with all the bad service we were stuck paying 18% for terrible service. So I don’t recommend coming here with parties greater than 4 – 6 cuz they will get it wrong or forget people’s drinks. Management figure this out cuz I just shuffled a new sushi place in my weekly line up and you’re out!

Beware of the rules for this place… If you do the happy hour specials make sure you eat all of them or else they will charge you. If you want it to go they will charge you $ 0.50 for the box. You have to buy a drink in order to get the 50% off lunch special. The sushi grade, on a scale of 1 – 10, is a 6 at best. I love sushi… This is a mediocre place. We told the server, from the start, that we wanted split checks. Guess what?!! It’s not split at the end and had to figure out later on which food is who’s!!! I felt bad for my friends Coz I recommended the place because of the AYCE. But, they no longer have AYCE. And they charged for everything!!! This was the closest«ok» sushi place by work. I would drive farther to Crenshaw Blvd to go to that sushi place next time. I don’t like disappointing my party and this was the first time i disappointed myself and my party. By the way. This is my 3rd time coming here before I wrote this review to give them a chance.

It was after 5, I was in PCH traffic, and I was hungry. You know it takes at least 30 minutes to get from one side of PCH in Torrance to the freeway. I’d be ravenous by then! Thus, I wanted to eat. I wanted to eat sushi. While I was stuck in the traffic that wasn’t moving, I Unilocaled sushi. Two places came up. This was one of them. Interestingly, both sushi places are only a block away from one another. I ended up driving into the other one before I came back to this one. This one looks better from the outside, and had customers inside that I could see out of the window. When I walked in, I realized it was a regular restaurant with Asian décor. I was greeted quickly and nicely. I told her I wanted to order to go. I stood at the counter looking at the menu while she busied herself with everything around the register in order to be available to help me when I was ready. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I forgot what I ordered, but I ordered two sushi rolls. Both were delicious and filling! I’m accustomed to other sushi places giving me a salad to accompany it, so I miss that. However, with a Unilocal check in, I got edamame beans. Score! So all in all, I’ll give them 5 stars: the service, the cleanliness, the ambience, and the food. If I’m in the area, I’d do it again.

Best sushi place ever. Happy hour, cheap and good service. Also big big big tv to watch the games. The music is on point, probably one of the employees ipod playing, really good music tastes. The food, holy cow… Amazing sushi and prices. Don’t listen to anyone else if they give below a five star review, I’ve been going to this place for years. Also godzilla roll challenge if you eat this huge sushi roll in under 20 mins you get it for free and get your picture taken on the wall of fame. There’s also a wall of shame too! I would try it if you’re a fun person. UPDATED: no more godzilla roll

Came here for lunch during their happy hour. Amazing deals 50 percent off sushi !!! They were all so delicious. The service was attentive and nice to us although out server was not that fluent in English, she was nice and sweet in her recommendation to us regarding the food. Will definitely come back here again. Environment: large screen projector perfect for a game day and large group hang out.

This little place has become one of my regular spots. The food is always good, the atmosphere is always chill and the service is so great! I love how they play reggae and alternative music. It makes for such a good vibe ! They are fairly priced and always have a good deal on beer wine and sake. Not to mention a huge screen for all the sports you could imagine. Always will recommend !

Came here on a whim and went based off Unilocal reviews. The place is a lot nicer inside than I thought it was going to be and the service was great. Very nice servers and an attentive host who seated us quickly. Sushi/roll prices are pretty standard. They weren’t the best I’ve had but it’s good enough to get a fix if you’re ever having a craving. For the same price, I’d probably check out other places that are a little better than this place.

i wonder why they stopped offering ayce? anyway, i came here for the first time to reunite with some of my high school friends. we were seating right by the corner, so we came in and we were offered by drinks, i ordered an unsweetened ice tea, there are no sugars in sight so i was a bit disappointed. then they told us we could order the ones that’re half off, there were only 5 of us but we asked for 3 separate order papers, so that way they dont need to split which order owns who.(its better that way) so me and my cousin ordered a bunch of nigiri, it was good that the fishes are big but the rice are also bigger! they were yummy except my favorite one of all is mackerel. it had a fishy taste, like its gonna go bad soon. overall, both our orders was like $ 71 altogether(see image, thats the only one we ordered) except for 1 beer. if they only had ayce, we would’ve saved alot of money. then again, it was a good experience, we stayed about another hour after we paid our bills, its cool that they didnt kicked us out, we were busy catching up.

My friend took me here for the first time. The outside looks off but don’t be fooled. This is a great place to get some sushi. It’s one of the best sushi I’ve tried! The ambiance looks very nice. It’s a little dark with dim lights. The side wall with the flower paintings is so pretty! I like it. Anyways, we ordered the edamame, King Kong roll, Sakura roll, and the Calarmari roll. It was so delicious. My favorite was the King Kong one out of the three. It’s huge and tasted really yummy. Love the sauces on there. I feel so fat eating all those rolls. Ehehee. My friend & I didn’t get to finish everything so we took some home. The price was okay. The check came out to around $ 43. There is free edamame with the check in. Don’t forget to do it in the beginning! Also, the service was great. Took a bit at first but it was busy so I understand. Will be coming back soon :)
