This is not big ma soul food. It’s Mrs Daisy soul food. No flavor what so ever. It looks like soul food but don’t go expecting YOMOMMACOOKING! Bring hot sauce, salt, pepper, and onions all in your pockets. you will need it!!!

This place is really hit or miss. After trying it again on Saturday I noticed once again that the wait to leave and pay your bill was extremely too long. As I stood and waited approx 15MINUTES to pay I watched the cashier and she was acting like a person that does drugs would act. In her defense, if she is not on drugs then she is just not the person they need to be taking our money. Typically you have to wait to get a table at restaurants, here you have to wait to leave. On a good note the food was pretty good this time.

This is one of the best examples of old fashioned Southern food left in the Atlanta, the other being Mary Mac’s in downtown Atlanta. It always has fried green tomatoes, yams, turnip greens, green beans, coconut cake, various pies and fried chicken. All good and at a good price.

Went here with the family for Thanksgiving, which was odd because we ALWAYS cook for holidays, but I was not dissapointed at all. Here’s what I had: Fried Catfish — not bad, but a bit over done. Coulda been deboned first… Baked Mac n Cheese — Definately better than the baked mac at most places Green Beans — not gonna lie they kinda sucked. Collard Greens — Pretty good, maybe homemade? Couldn’t quite tell Fried Green Tomatoes — WOW, phenomenal. Crispy tangy goodness Everyone seemed to be happy with their meals, everyone had dessert but me and enjoyed. I would definitely go back. Try it.

I remember coming here once with my grandmother for lunch. Staff was friendly. Not very packed, immediately seated. Food lacked flavor, not much variety either. Food looked old. Extremely disappointed. Will not be back.

Not fancy. Not pretentious. Simple southern food as you would have found at restaurants in every southern town before the advent of the fast food restaurant. The food is certainly not the best of its breed but it need not be… it’s made here. The beauty of this place is its honesty… it’s delightful eating cobbler that may be too sweet and perhaps overdone in the corner because you know it was made by someome. The sugar is chewy and the buiscuit dough properly turned. The mistakes are a beautiful reminder that it is food made by a human hand not a factory and reheated into perfect squares with x number of reconstituted peach bits per square inch. If you are looking for that pretty damned good buffet food or meat and two of your childhood. this is your place. Again… don’t come here expecting 5 star gastronomy… but it’s not that place. The waitresses are also delightful and provide good service.

Variety homestyle buffet with salad, desserts, drink included. The food is pretty much the same as the famous Blue Willow in Social Circle — just cheaper and more casual atmosphere. Seafood buffets on Friday and Saturday nights. Still is a little pricey unless you plan to eat a lot. Lunch buffet is best value. Sr. Discounts always.

The negative reviews confuse me because I was thoroughly pleased with everything. Especially the fried chicken! Good service too.

The catfish was extraordinarily good. If you like southern food it’s the place for you. Northern people like their green beans tough, hardly cooked at all. That’s not the kind of beans you find at Journey’s end. The beans are slow cooked all day seasoned with real salt pork. The Fried green tomatoes are just right. The staff keeps the buffet stocked. Yankees don’t know anything about catfish but they know about catfish at Journey’s end. The service was excellent, especially Anessa. My mama is crazy about the chocolate on chocolate cake and you can add chocolate syrup on top of vanilla ice cream on the cake!

My wife & I were curious to check this place out because it is always busy. We were welcomed by a friendly & personable hostess but everything else was awful. Our booth had a rip in the seat that extended about 6 inches long and there was an 1−½ inch hole in the foam padding that ran to the bottom. When I went to the buffet I saw that the kitchen was flooded with about an inch of water that ran as far & wide as I could see. Staff splashed water as they walked through the water but nobody was acting like anything was wrong so I guess it is a normal occurrence. The buffet seemed quite small for such a large group of people and soon diners were lined out into the hallway. There was only one picked over carcass of salmon during the entire evening we were there. The fried tomatoes, oysters, chicken and scallops were glistening from all the grease so I stuck to vegetables. As I spooned out green beans, kitchen lady came up and dumped a load of beans into the pan on top of the old ones causing them to overflow into surrounding containers of other food. The whole buffet was sloppy and I was beginning to worry about the cleanliness and safety of their food. The boiled shrimp had a bad odor and was yellowed and hard here the heads had been removed. After tasting one shrimp my wife spit it out saying it tasted bad. It cost more than $ 30.00 with tip for experiencing the Journey’s End Buffet. We paid and left as quickly as we could and headed to McDonalds. It is hard to understand why people go there or give it good reviews. We are not picky but we do expect cleanliness and food safety and I give this place a failing grade on both issues.

After visiting this evening, I will not return. This place is struggling. The conditions have gotten worst. At 7 pm on Sunday, they had ran out of ham and collard greens. They left the tray out with a few one inch or so pieces with the juice. Mo one bothered to remove the tray. The biscuits lookwd old and dry. The waldorf salad was days old as the red of the apples had bleed onto the salad. The last batch of mac and cheese was uncooked and runny. I started to take a picture of the dessert area, but that would add insult to injury. I have becoming here for over 13 years and they have lost me. The unfortunate part is that they actually had some good food in the past. They still have good corn bread dressing ad gravy. They need a face lift. Everything is old and worn. The bead board walls are digusting and the walls need cleaning and floors, cleaned, waxed, varnished or something. Our server was great and she knew something was wrong. I blame ownership and management. Don’t cause the staff to lose a place of employment. Invest in your business.

We came here because two of my friends said the food was very good. It was terrible. The food was tasteless and everything tasted canned. The peach cobbler was inedible. Someone in my party said the apple cobbler was better, but I didn’t dare try it. I do not believe the usual cook was there that day. Not sure who’s idea of Southern Home Cooking this is, but it certainly not mine and not worth the trip or the price. We would have had a better meal at Golden Corral.

Tasteless, everything comes out of a can or taste that way, if you think this is home cookin, you have no idea what that is! Only ate there once and that will be the last time!

I was here because my entire extended family wanted to check it out(I wouldn’t typically choose a place like this). The food was pretty standard southern buffet food… fried, buttered, salted. I didn’t have any complaints — it was good, but don’t plan to eat healthy.

We visited here for the first time yesterday. The host was very nice, our server was only somewhay attentive, and the food was fabulous. The actual buffet is rather small, but what it lacks in quanitity it makes up for in quality. My favorite was the ssweet potatoes and meatloaf. The Journeys End Squares were delicious. I didnt give it a 5 because it is a bit overpriced at $ 13 per person and $ 5 for kids. Why so much???

I was visiting family in Lawrenceville, GA and wanted some good soulfood, after a google search turned up This place I decided to give it a try. Man am I glad that I did, everything was great! First of all the corn was unexplainably good, the chicken was great, don’t get me started on the fish, did I mention the meatloaf and gravey? Just awesome! The only thing is it’s a little hard to find, but I’m here to help with that lol. It’s the next plaza after Walmart(next to chick fill a) drive to the back and you will see the sign on the right. It is well worth it!!! Oh I almost forgot to mention the GREAT customer service that myself and friends received. This is a must visit!!!

As a writer if soul food cookbooks and after countless disapointing soul food restaurants, this place has got to be my favorite. Food is fresh, sweet tea is always flowing and the people are friendly. Its not fancy but its good and its all you can eat for one price.

Pretty darn good. The corn is great! Think they put crack in it. How can plain olé’ corn be so darn tasty? A lot of people come here after church. The staff is friendly. The roast beef was pretty good too. My boyfriend loves their Arnold Palmer! They have great sweet tea!

Visited this place for Thanksgiving(’09) and expected a long wait which we did experience… about 30 – 40 minutes. Worth the wait though. They have great country food. Fried green tomatoes, green beans, macaroni, greens, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, roast beef, fried chicken, fried fish, turkey, rolls, corn bread, biscuits, salad bar, numerous deserts. http://http://www.journeysendrestaurant.com
