Dar’s Diner/Ice Cream & More is a small local diner located north of I-80 Exit 185 in Loganton, next to Valero. Stepping inside feels very homey and cozy, like visiting someone’s kitchen/dining room, a bit of clutter. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner(Wed, Fri, & Sat until 8PM). The dining area has a few tables and stool seating up at the counter with an open grill and food prep area. The walls are painted red and there is a wall full of pictures of Hometown Heroes. The clientele here were mainly older locals and hunters. As for the food, it’s basic American«down home» country cooking here. The breakfast offerings include egg platters, egg sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, sausage gravy on biscuits or toast, chipped beef on biscuits or toast, home fries, and breakfast meats. For lunch, they offer burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, deli salads, and baked beans. Specials are offered here including soups of the day(cheeseburger soup, chili) and comfort foods(goulash). They offer Taco Wednesday(2PM-8PM) serving tacos, chicken quesadillas, enchiladas, and burritos. Most entrees priced under $ 8. The Ice Cream & More menu is also offered here including soft serve ice cream, cones, dishes, shakes, floats, sundaes, banana splits, s.v. snowstorms, and ice cream sandwiches. During the warmer months, the outside ice cream window is open. I stopped at Dar’s Diner/Ice Cream & More for a late breakfast on a road trip through Central PA. I decided to try this diner out since the other nearby diner on the south side of I-80 Exit 185 was busy. I sat myself at a small table(menus at each table) and decided what I wanted. I ordered a coffee($ 1.50) and Sausage Gravy on Biscuits($ 7) with home fries. The coffee was fresh brewed in about 5 minutes and my food was cooked to order and hot & ready in about 10 minutes. The portion of food was good. The soft breadlike biscuits(very crumbly though) were covered with a white cream ground sausage gravy on one half of the plate and lightly grilled home fries(seasoned fresh cut potatoes) on the other side. The breakfast food I had was basic and decent. The service here was adequate and prompt.
