My wife and I spent the weekend at Lake Escape with another couple for a Valentine’s weekend retreat. We choose it after doing an advanced search on . We submitted the reservation form about two weeks before we wanted to go. We received a phone call the next day from Crista confirming our reservation and taking our credit card information which they charged half as a deposit. They said we’d receive an email with more information on check-in etc. the next day. A week went by and we hadn’t heard anything so we emailed them at asking for those details and received a response the next day with check-in information. We were very concerned because we couldn’t find ANY reviews of the cabin online(hence I’m writing one now), but we decided to try it anyway and we were not disappointed. We arrived on a Friday evening and left Sunday morning. It was only an hour from both couples homes in Columbus. The driveway was very steep and just lose gravel. It took both couples a few attempts to get our vehicles up the drive because they kept loosing traction, but if you backed up and gave it a «running» start you were usually OK. It may not be possible to get up the driveway if it’s storming or muddy. Once there, we were relieved at how nice everything was. Inside is a first floor sitting room with flat screen TV and two chairs plus a kitchen table. There’s a fully equipped kitchen including an electric range and a tiny dishwasher that leaked water all over the floor each time we ran it. We really were only downstairs for meals though. We spent most of our time in the more spacious upstairs where there’s two sitting areas and a very effective gas fireplace(however it did seem to run out of fuel as we were packing up to leave and we had some trouble keeping the pilot light lit). There’s two very small private bedrooms with full size beds, which we didn’t really mind since we weren’t in them very much but would probably be hard for families with children. There’s no room for end tables which was annoying since both my wife and I wear glasses. All in all, it was very spacious(the pictures on their Website are a little outdated and don’t do the place justice). It’s really a lot of cabin for the price. The place sleeps 6(two in each bedroom, a couch and a futon), but the four of us were comfortable and all agreed that six would be pushing it. Outside from the second floor, there’s a large deck area out front overlooking Lake Logan, table, hammock and a very private hot tub. The hot tub was very clean, just right for the four of us and warmed up quickly(considering it was in the 20s). There’s also a fire ring just off the deck that we didn’t use but it looked to be in nice shape. The upstairs TV had limited cable channels and a working DVD and VHS combo unit. They had some decent board games too. Pros: nicely furnished spacious very clean nice hot tub Cons: Steep gravel driveway Small Bedrooms Low water pressure on all faucets and shower Dishwasher leaked Low ceilings — not suitable for anyone much over 6 ft. tall Last Words: Lake Escape is a really great value overall. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and spaciousness even though it had some quirks and imperfections. We’ll probably be back again this Fall.
