In Logan, you will not find a better place to stay. The property is beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was courteous. The place was quiet and no one bothered me. I was there for a funeral and I thought that the bereavement rate was a generous consideration. The room had a fridge and microwave — perfect for that late-night Giovanni’s pizza I devoured(hey, it had been 7 years since I had one). I did not eat in the restaurant. There were limited options for a vegetarian, but I didn’t have time to eat there anyway. The complimentary breakfast has something for everyone, though I only had juice and coffee. Styrofoam plates are a turnoff, but normal for people in the area to use(unfortunately, for the environment). My Verizon phone had no service, also normal, but I found the wifi to work perfectly and it was not slow for me at all. I will definitely be back next time I’m visiting«home.»

I am rating the hotel portion of this property. Pretty awesome location that gives great views. Trails near by for hiking and ATV riding. This hotel also offers a nice playground for young children and a stocked firepit for outside relaxation. Inside there are a couple living areas for family gatherings that are quite nice. There is an indoor pool and fitness center within the hotel(the other things you may have read about mentioning an indoor tennis courts or track, that is housed in a different building located closer to the base of the mountain). I did not like the layout of the pool and fitness center as the fitness center is a floor to ceiling windowed room that is in direct view of the pool. So those swimming or relaxing in the hot tub can see those working out, and vice versa. When it comes to the hotel room itself, I was not impressed. The beds did not have fitted sheets, and the sheets that were put on the bed were meant for a full and not a queen. It seems as if they attempted upgrading a little by mounting a flatscreen TV on the wall, however they kept the dresser that once kept the TV and put a microwave in its place. In the bathroom, they found it fitting to install a $ 2 showerhead. 1-ply toilet tissue ladies. And yes other reviews are correct, the Wi-Fi does really suck. There is a continental breakfast offered which had much more than I was expecting. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would only return here because the easy access to the trail system and ability to utilize the recreation facility(which is definitely worth checking out, seriously; another indoor pool that you can do laps in, awesome exercise machines, a converteted tennis court for basketball or aerobic classes).

This place is really clean and well maintained – like in being near perfect condition. Easily the cleanest hotel I’ve been in since one of the deluxe WDW resorts. Quiet and unassuming, this is the perfect place to unwind during a road trip and at a great price. Lots of amenities but the only room downside is a slightly weak and not particularly fast wifi signal in the room. Free Breakfast was fine except that the cereal choices where Frosted Flakes and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, both which were sugary kids cereal. I think one of the choices should have been raisin bran or Cheerios, which are a bit healthier and adult oriented.

The hotel is a little hard to find, you can’t actually get there through the state park, but once you find it, it’s a nice place. It seems a little more business-like than most WV State park lodges. As per usual with WV state park accomodations, it is very clean. This one just has a more modern feel to it. The room was very nice, and the bed extremely comfy. We were told our room would have a balcony, in all honesty it was more like a terrace, and not all that private, anyone could have walked up to it and sat outside our window. A few rooms seem to share that terraced area, so if a group of people arranged to have the rooms that shared that area, it could be fun, kind of like everyone has their own little back door. There is even a little fire pit to gather around. We did not get there in time to try the restaurant for dinner, as we had trouble finding the lodge, but we did enjoy the free continental breakfast. There was no option to order from a menu, which we probably would have done if offered, so continental it was… The usual stuff, bagels, muffins, yogurt, cereal, biscuits(not homemade), coffee, juice, milk… all in all not bad but we would have preferred a hot breakfast, but it was free, so it was awesome. Would stay here again, it’s very comfortable and close enough to some area attractions we might want to check out.

This lodging is a hotel located next to Chief Logan State Park, but cannot be directly accessed through the park. It’s located one mile off US119 between the towns of Logan and Chapmanville, WV. About 1 hour south of Charleston/the airport. We stayed here recently as a group of 11 friends/family for a combined vacation and religious purposes. It was all of our first time to the state of West Virginia. We needed to be close to Mingo County, and the Lodge was a desirable choice as far as modernity, swimming pool, and the beauty of the facility and location. Pluses: Very nice rooms, beautiful lobby(mountain-lodge style but modern), gift shop, pool, grounds are meticulously kept, extremely friendly and accommodating staff, easy access to Hwy. 119 and the town of Logan. Their in-hotel restaurant is FIRST-RATE! Delicious steaks, fresh fish, and all reasonably priced in a dignified setting. Minuses: At the time of our trip(early July) there were thunderstorms, which meant non-stop power outages. When it got to a stretch of 24-hours without any power, the staff facilitated a relocation of our group to another hotel in Logan. We had planned to stay at Chief Logan Lodge for the duration of our trip(8 days) but could not, because some in our group needed electricity for their medical devices(CPAP machines). As of this writing, the hotel had no alternative power/generators whatsoever! We hope, and the staff expressed the hope, that this situation will be remedied.
