Cheap beers, friendly people, just what we were looking for. This is as good as it gets in terms of dive bars in TX.

So the one bar in Lockhart is actually a dive.(yessssss!) Well, it looks like it was once somebody’s mobile home. I had the honor of walking into this bar with an Iraq war vet, and a former marine embassy guard who happen to be the two men in my life that always got my back. As soon as we walked in, it felt like we were in that«Roadhouse» movie. I felt both strange and welcome in this slightly dingy place. There was a lady working the bar and she would come out to pick up our empties or deliver the next round– this chick was amazing! There is a table reserved for veterans and there were two older Mexican-American gentlemen, one was Mr. Corpus who served the Vietnam War, happily enjoying their beers. Mr. Corpus bought us a round and when we all went to shake this kind stranger’s hand, he invited us to sit at his table. What was going to be a one drink stop turned into 4? 5? I don’t remember because we were so entertained by these gentlemen’s stories that it was dark when we left. SHIT! How long did we stay here? Anyway, if you’re ever in Lockhart to indulge in their bbq, make sure to stop by The Korner Bar(with a K) and buy Mr. Corpus a round. He is there every day, he said. My bro also scored some cheap newcastle($ 2) because they were trying to get rid of it. Hmm I guess Lockhart isn’t a Newcastle drinkin’ type of town, but the people are what keep me comin’ back.
