Nothing like that kick in the gut you feel when your computer just dies unexpectedly and you get that blue screen of death. On a Friday afternoon no less! Frantic, i called around and took my baby(a Lenovo ThinkPad) to a couple of repair shops. They all wanted to keep my computer for a week to «check it out.» I was in a rush and couldn’t afford to be without a computer for a week. So I found Elemental Computer Works via Lenovo’s website. Nicole and Bill walked me through a couple of things to check over the phone. When that didn’t help, i took my baby in for further analysis. With no easy fixes, i opted to get a new computer. But i was adamant that i didn’t want that fancy new Windows 8. :-p Luckily, Elemental had a new ThinkPad with the good old Windows 7 on board. Of course, i wasn’t very good about backing up my old computer. So Elemental offered to «clone» my old computer onto my new computer for a very reasonable fee. Now for the kicker … i needed it all done by Saturday! Elemental stepped up again and offered me «priority» service for a very reasonable fee, and they worked on it Friday night and all day Saturday. 24 hours later, i had my new computer, with everything from my old computer loaded. It works like a charm! And when i had a follow-up question, i was able to call their after-hours hotline and Wayne connected to my new computer remotely to show me what i needed to do. They’re a small mom-and-pop shop that is locally owned with a good focus on customer service. But they’re also plenty sophisticated and seem to have all the resources to deal with complex computer problems. Kudos!
