Cleanliness, professionalism, and artistic genius! Considering how many hours I’ve been here in the past few years (45 hours and counting)…I’ve earned the opportunity to review and comment with some authority.
If you live anywhere in Colorado, its worth the trip… afterall, a tattoo last forever… so quality, care, and experience does matter!
A little about me:
I’m a late bloomer tattoo recipient. .Meaning, I got my first at over 40, and I’m a professional female real estate agent. The best part about the experiences I’ve had (and those whom I’ve referred) is that the level of professionalism is mind blowing. Plus, the conversations are vastly intelligent, funny, and often I leave with great book titles, documentary and travel recommendations… never a dull moment in the chair here.
Fritz really listens at the consult, and if waiting to see the drawing till the appointment concerns you…
DON’T WORRY… as shocking as this may sound… Fritz always delivers by bringing concepts to life. It’s his gift.
All of my tattoos are by Fritz, and I’m loyal, but I’ve had plenty of interaction with Emily (the piercing queen), and Chad who’s also an exceptional artist and all around great guy. Everyone has always made me feel at home.
My husband and our adult kids both see Fritz loyally as well.

Jesse is amazing! I was in disbelief when he did my tattoo. He made it absolutely perfect!

I decided to fulfill a dream of some piercings. I will say the store is very clean and I was helped right away.
My grump is I had an issue with one of the piercings, and went in a few days later to try to get a larger stud as I was concerned the current one would pull through. Was told I had the «only» size they had, and that was the standard size for the piercing (I find that hard to believe as I have friends who had larger, from different shops).
Sure enough, about 3 days later the piercing pulled itself out due to swelling. Of course the hole immediately closed and now I’m stuck waiting for it to heal enough to go somewhere else to get it done again.
Not impressed as I wasted time and money, and I went in and expressed my concern of this very thing happening before it actually did, and felt like I was basically blown off.

I took my daughter here to get her tragus and helix pierced. Not only was the shop clean, everyone there was super friendly. Emily, who pierced her, was awesome and very knowledgable! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! Thanks Emily!

Chad is the man. Cool, patient, great artist and very detailed/​focused. 100% recommend if you’re on the south side. I will be going here as long as Chad is there.

I worked with Jesse for a tattoo.
My mind is blown by how cool his design is!
When he said we could combine two elements, a barcode/​numeral setup and a logo design, I did not imagine how fabulous it could turn out. He took his time and made the design when I got there for the 1pm appointment. Probably 30 minutes is all it took him to come up with it. Putting the ink took an hour. So this ended up costing less than I was targeting. Tip your artists, people! They deserve it!

received a crap tattoo from a shop in Denver and went and saw Joe at alternative arts and he was able to fix my tattoo and I received so many great compliments. Made me feel so much better about the tattoo that I got. Thanks Joe!

Everyone here does great work. Pricing is fair and they treat everyone that comes in like a friend. Have several hours of tattooing from a couple different artists here and have been super happy. Their piercer is awesome too my daughter has gone to her a few times. PLUS they do fundraisers for various charities each year.

I have several tattoos from alternative arts, the majority from Fritz. I will never go anywhere else, he is a true artist.

Alternative Arts is among one of the best shops in Colorado. I have had the opportunity to have something done by everyone, and I more than pleased with my experience each time. As a collector I take a great deal of pride in finding amazing artists and the tattoos that I have gotten from Fritz, KC, Chad and Bran have received numerous compliments from laymen and professionals alike.

I have been a customer of the studio owner Fritz’s for about 12 years. He is an extremely talented, patient and meticulous artist. He is very passionate about his work and it shows in his artwork and beautiful tattoos. He listens to his clients needs and can work in and produce many different styles of artwork. He can create beautiful custom artwork or work from the pieces clients bring in. I have over 20 tattoos that Fritz has done and am constantly receiving compliments on them. He is currently working on a full sleeve for me and I could not have asked for a better artist to do my tattoo work.
I currently live about 65 miles from the studio and would not go to any other place for my tattoo work. The studio is always very clean and the staff is very professional.
I have also had work done by Fritz’s daughter Brandilyn, another artist in the shop. Brandilyn is just as amazing as her dad and has a truly unique style. Emily, the studio piercer is also very talented, professional and compassionate.
I would and have recommended the studio to many friends over the years and they have all completely loved Fritz and his work.

My sister and I went here for our first tattoos and both had an excellent experience. My friend recommended Zech to us, so that’s who we met with. I came in with a custom idea and he listened to what I wanted and said he would take 20 min to sketch something up, and when he finished it looked even better than I was expecting.
The tattoo only took about 20 min to complete and looks awesome.

Zech was incredible. He did outstanding work. I have 8 tattoos and I’m very particular about who puts permanent work on me. He is the only one I will go to for my ink in this state from now on. Paid half the price I was expecting to pay and got twice the results. Do not miss the chance to have Alternative do your next piece of work… wont regret it.

Alternative Arts is the only studio I will go to in the metro Denver area (and I have been tattooed at many of the other places in town). Fritz (the owner) really knows what he is doing and listens/​works with his clients. His daughter works the front area and is also an aspiring artist (UPDATE — she is tattooing now and her work looks phenomenal!).
Fritz is great with Eastern (Asian) designs, but can work in other disciplines as well. The shop is extremely clean and professional. Fritz does only work off appointments (for tattooing) and offers custom work and competitive prices. I highly recommend!

Had Fritz (the owner) do a medium sized tattoo that I had drawn on my back here. He made the modifications to my drawing that I asked for very nicely, adding a rose to my stylized ankh. I asked for 2 colors and got three (one for free) because he said he thought the rose would look better with a bright red outline then one solid color. It looks great, and the work has stayed nice since, he uses quality ink. The work was a fair price.
