What a treat! And as an added bonus, coming from the northeast, everything seemed so inexpensive to me. A great place for an afternoon pick me up. Try the lemon square and the nut balls. Not crazy about the iced brownie, just too sweet. Everyone was very friendly and it is a nicely mixed clientele.

If you get something to go, plan on hanging out for at least 30 minutes. The employees here are a little slow.

Attended an office party where we ordered a cake from here. The party planner was MORTIFIED at the quality and appearance. Honestly we would have been better off homemade. They«decorated» the cake by frosting it with a tub of icing and sprinkling some chocolate chips on top(not evenly). Then there was a red sprinkles mark like someone accidentally spilled sprinkles before the cake was sent out. We let them know our disappointment upon picking this up and they had no response. They didn’t offer to correct it or to discount or anything. All I can say is it was embarrassing to show up with this cake at all– much less to admit that we paid for it!

It seems to me that they are trying to clear out the old in the evenings. Rule of thumb should be to make less but make it more often. People work hard for their money and substandard food is over-rated. The lint other thing I would mention is that the girl making someone’s sandwich was using her bare hand to reach in the tomato container and just contaminated all of the tomatoes. What happened to plastic gloves?

Stopped in and purchased my son a birthday cake. The guy helping me was super nice, however some of the other staff had some major attitude problems. The cake was great, however the staff could be more cordial.

Community Bakery is much more than just a mere bakery which can be found anywhere. Community bakery is an experience! I have many nostalgic memories of my grandmother taking me here on summer trips to Little Rock. Over the years, Community Bakery has evolved from an outstanding bakery into a full eatery which includes the original bakery. Their baked goods are simply amazing. Truly everything tastes great. Especially after ordering a variety of cookies, you’ll be hard pressed not to find a favorite in the batch. Once you find the favorite, you’ll be instantly transformed into the Cookie Monster and you’ll be wanting to devour about a dozen immediately. My absolute favorite cookies are the frosted sugar cookies. Their cakes are phenomenal along with many of their other assorted baked goods. In the baked goods department, you’d be hard pressed to find something here that isn’t good. As for the breakfast sandwiches, I had a simple croissant toasted with cheese. It was simply okay. Not the best one I’ve had, but edible. Whether you’re visiting Little Rock or a local, Community Bakery is an absolute must.

Not thrilled. While it has history I was not pleased with my visit. I ordered a latte for here with an order of tiramisu. First, I specifically said for here because I wanted a glass mug. I hate using a styrofoam or paper cup of I don’t have too. And I got it in a paper cup. At that point it’s too late to argue as its already going to end up in a landfill. Secondly. The latte was the worst I’ve ever had. The coffee was so bitter I couldn’t drink more then a sip of it. The tiramisu must have been recently made as the lady fingers were still hard and not soaked through with espresso which really couldn’t be tasted. And if you were planning to be comfortable while sipping your burnt latte and surfing the Internet(they do have free wifi! Win! Otherwise it would have been one star) but… the chairs are straight out of the 1980s and impossible to get comfortable in. I’m all for the local coffee shop but I’d skip this one.

I ordered the turkey sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. It was huge I couldn’t finish the whole thing. But it was tasty. The atmosphere was laid back, I would definitely eat here again.

Love the atmosphere here. Downtown bakery with all walks of life hanging out. Business people in suits, students drinking coffee and using wifi, local joggers having an outdoor lunch, etc. Quite busy, but service was quick. I had lunch with two co-workers and it was actually quite good. I had the California club(Turkey, avocado, bacon, cheese) with baby carrots instead of chips(trying to healthy it up). Plenty of meat and the croissant was perfect. The carrots… ehh. But that’s just me hating healthy food. Not the restaurant’s fault. One of my co-workers had the half sandwich and soup. I can’t remember what sandwich she had but she fell in love with the chicken, broccoli and cheese soup. Afterward we grabbed dessert to take with us. I had an iced sugar cookie and it was pretty tasty, but I doubt you can mess up a sugar cookie too much. Price was average, about what you’d expect to pay for deli food. Service was fine and food was great. I’ll definitely visit again.(Especially breakfast… rumor has it they have some pretty decent breakfast items…)

I’ve had it with the complete lack of concern for service. They’re slow, insolent, and I get the feeling I’m inconveniencing them when I place an order. I’ve tried to ignore it, but — if the owners don’t give a crap — neither do I. I just won’t ever be back. I start out the day happy and energized, and they take me down. Not worth it.

Tried it out on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. Even though we walked in 10 minutes before closing, the staff was helpful and friendly. The pie and cake selection was great. The cookies they had to offer were delicious. If you are anywhere near the bakery, I recommend you stopping in and sampling their work.

The atmosphere inside is nice. The sausage roll is awesome. The service is not my favorite. Mainly at the drive through. I think maybe it’s because a lot of the employees think it’s just a window and not a drive through. They almost seem surprised someone is there. «Hey! Someone is at the window in their car!» This is fixable. Advise all the employees that it’s a drive through. Put some pencils and paper at the window so they don’t come back and ask the customer AGAIN what the order was. If you can remember my wife’s order without writing it down, you should count cards at the casino like Rainman. If this doesn’t work, just shut down the window and have all customers come inside. You might actually sell more, because then the people who only wanted coffee would have to smell the food and probably say…“Go ahead and give me a Danish.”

As a relative newcomer to Little Rock, I’ve read all the lists of what to do and where to eat. Community Bakery is on every single one, yet I’ve never been particularly impressed. I’ve been in three times now, once for a sweet treat(pretty good and reasonably priced), once for a breakfast sandwich(better in theory than in reality; it was underwhelming) and once for just coffee, as we were in the neighborhood. None of these experiences were bad, just unremarkable, and so I was willing to give it another shot. I tried this morning, but after standing at the counter and waiting as more than one staff member walked past to serve no less than five customers who came in after I did, I walked out. I’m just not willing to put up with poor customer service for a mediocre breakfast.

Been here a few times, and, while it never blew me away, the fare and location were pretty decent. The Caprese sandwich and biscuits and gravy are probably the highlights for me. Coffee is decent but all of their selections– with fancy titles such as «Rwandan…», «Jamaican» so and so– taste, pretty much, the same. Tables are usually plentiful, if wobbly and not always clean. What ruined this place for me is the really atrocious service that has been pointed out in several of the reviews. It almost seems like they scope out the local bus stops adjacent to homeless shelters and mental institutions for part time help during their peak hours. Case in point: I arrived their recently to get my traditional paper and coffee. Whilst I stood in line for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time, my eye caught a yogurt parfait in the display case, and I figured-why not? The young lady at the register seemed extremely confused-scurrying around back and forth from the drive-thru window and the kitchen bringing one thing at a time and asking other employees for direction. Once I finally caught her attention(I was the only one in line at that point) and gave her my order, she performed her«one thing at a time» shtick, despite the fact that the Sunday paper and yogurt were located precisely 5 feet from one another. No matter, I was just relieved to be making any headway at this point. Once she finally retrieved the aforementioned parfait the damn thing fell from her hand and splattered onto the floor. The typical thing to do at this point would be to throw it away, get the customer a new one and clean up after the fact. What does this woman do? She picks it up and tries to hand it to me as if nothing happened(perhaps in her mind, nothing did). That’s right folks. You heard correctly. This person, who supposedly does this for a living, tried to serve me a yogurt parfait that fell to the floor-well within my field of vision. Needless to say, whatever respect I had for this place disappeared the moment she looked me in the eye with an outstretched arm holding a contaminated yogurt mess-expecting me to oblige her. Thus, this is the Community Bakery experience.

It’s a neighborhood staple but I find the pastry section to be hit and miss. Awesome bread pudding not so awesome chocolate chip cookies. The cowboy cookies were good. But we have ordered a special occasion cake twice and both times it tasted freezer burnt. I don’t think they are making the cakes fresh. :-(

I have been coming to Community Bakery for so long, some of this current staff was still wetting themselves while lying in a drooling state of infant euphoria. It seems that much of this staff has never segued from that type of self absorption, either. Before I progress, I received excellent service from a young black female(sorry that I did not get your name!), who was attentive, looked at me and spoke directly to me and treated me like… well, a paying customer. With that said… Having been in customer service my entire life, I have learned that a simple word to a waiting customer, «Hi, sorry that we are so busy. Thank you for coming in. I promise I will be with you in a moment!» Will placate this person for quite a long time. Conversely, running around customers, avoiding eye contact and orbiting in your own self-importance, only aggravates customers, accentuates their wait and ruins their experience in YOUR place of business. THIS is the Community Bakery experience! Even when they aren’t extremely busy, more employees ignore customers rather than acknowledge and speak to customers. This is BAD for business. And, seems to be the pattern on a Tuesday(like today), a Sunday, or a Thursday evening. That is, this has been my personal experience more often than not lately. ITWASN’T ALWAYSTHISWAY! Look, I get the whole, snarly, alternative, urban, often flippant attitude. Yes, you are all hip. You also have a job, so acknowledge and take care of your paying customers. As for the young lady who DID help me(while tie dyed, antler lady never seemed to acknowledge a single customer… even to say either«hello,» «thank you,» or «let me get someone to help you»), thank you for being calm, focused and customer oriented. YOU should train the rest if the staff!

I just moved back to Little Rock and was looking for a bakery for my sister’s birthday. I’ve heard good things about this bakery and ordered a cake for her with pink leopard print and ask them to bring it up as she likes all things sparkly turned out beautiful. Not only did it look good but the buttons body style cake inside was delicious absolutely the best I’ve ever had and we just moved from spoiled bakeries we had in Orange County California. It’s hard to see in the picture but the Baker who made this to the superb job there sugar glider and rhinestones that have been at the bottom also or more than reasonable cost we will be using them for every cupcakes or cake made we should have, I would highly recommend these folks.

Wide range of comments, go for yourself and form your own opinion. My experiences have been good, quiche is a nice change of pace, soups are hit or miss depending on what you order. It’s a hipster joint, cool local art for sale on the walls and average/standard baked good offerings.
