We asked if they had Grouper. Because it wasn’t on the menu. The waiter said it says white fish on the menu but that it’s Grouper! Well it was not Grouper. It was Flounder, bad Flounder. They work the tourist and tell them what they want to hear. Dishonest business!

The food was average to good but the price was way too high. The setting is pleasant on the inlet watching the fishing and casino boats pass but the scenery is expensive at $ 30+ per plate of average seafood. Three people with Tea and water as the beverage with tip was $ 105. No thanks.

Although we have been aware of Capt Juel’s Hurrican Restaurant for many years we had never eated there. We always heard that it was a great place for seafood. An opportunity presented itself while at the Blue Crab Festival in Little River, SC. We arrived via water taxi and the restaurant was right in front of us as we disembarked. The service was absolutely horrific. The server never brought extra napkins as requested, never asked, or brought us water, never asked if we wished another drink, and seemed more interested in getting to the next customer than taking care of us. He forgot to have our sandwiches cut in half and then forgot to bring us a knife so we could do it ourselves. Instead of two orders of french fries they brought one order of french fries and one bag of chips because they«made a mistake» but never attempted to correct the error. Service was extremely slow and the grouper sandwich and blue crab sandwich were both mediocre at best. It was a bad experience and we will not return.

My husband and his parents and I went here during blue crab fest. It was hot and many vendors had long lines, so we decided if we were to stand in a line it might as well be for a waterfront restaurant. The service was excellent, there was quite a long line but the place is fairly large and they were able to seat groups very quickly. Our server was also very nice, and considering how busy it was, did very well and had a great attitude. The food, however, was not only underwhelming, but downright disappointing. The menu was simple, I hoped this meant the items listed were prepared fresh, consistent and delicious. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp to start — the shrimp were tough and the seasoning fell flat. The cocktail sauce was in a generic clear squeeze bottle on the table, it was gelatinous and didn’t even stick to the shrimp. After pushing it around the plate I just felt sick about it. This is when I noticed the tartar sauce and mayonnaise also on the table. This completely grossed me out as they NEED to be refrigerated! Absurdly disgusting!!! Who knows how long they’ve been out on the table??? My father in law said he felt like he could plaster a wall with the she crab soup. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, with cole slaw and chips. The bun was twice the size of the one crab cake sitting on a sad pile of lettuce and tomato. There was so much bread I ended up pulling it apart and just eating the crab cake, which tasted like something I would buy in the freezer section of the grocery store. Not fresh, not special, I seriously doubt these are made on site. The«coleslaw» was damp cabbage. There was no flavor, no visible dressing(except for a bit of milky liquid at the bottom of my 2oz plastic portion cup) and it was JUSTCABBAGE, and looked like it was starting to oxidize the day before it was served. If they had nailed the cole slaw, I may have considered giving this place another shot with a different meal choice. The chips just irritated me. A small bag of plain kettle chips. A bag. I’m paying $ 50 for lunch with my husband and you’re going to give me a BAGOF99 cent chips? My nearly $ 3 fountain pink lemonade was also annoying, and I think they need to clean their lines for their fountain drinks. My husband got the fish sandwich, coleslaw, and chips. His rather large fish sandwich fit quite well on the same bun my crab cake sandwich was on. He said that even though the fish fell apart when he tried to eat it, that it was actually quite good. he was also disappointed with the cole slaw and didn’t eat the chips. He, much braver than I, tried the tartar sauce. It was runny and bland and while it didn’t make him sick, he expected it to. The price of the beer was low. We will never be back, and would only recommend that you reconsider eating here. Truly a disaster. Such a shame, as the location is beautiful.

This restaurant has good views of the water and casino boats, which creates a great atmosphere for a delicious seafood dinner. This is on the more expensive side, but everything we had was really good. So, if you’re willing to pay a little bit more to get good seafood and be on the water, then this is a really great choice. The hush puppies and fried shrimp were our favorites.

Just finished eating. Top notch fresh food. If stop in make sure you get in Kati’s section. She is fast and very good at her job. Best waitress we had in a while. Must eat if you in Little River

Went here for lunch today with the family. Granted it is shrimp fest weekend but nothing we ordered was good. Crab dip tasted like cheese dip and if there was crab it was«krab». She crab soup just tasted like cream base. Grouper sandwich was some type of fish potentially Grouper but nothing noteworthy. Lastly, the grilled chicken sandwich was flavorless except for the burnt cheese. The only items we liked were the bottled beers. And for a $ 70 lunch, not a recommended place to go.

We have been coming to Sunset forever and this is the first time we have found this hidden gem! Beautiful view and AMAZING sushi. We had a party of 12 and they waiter did an amazing job accommodating us and our children. We originally ordered a few sushi apps, but they were so delicious we ordered the sushi boat(aka the Love Boat)! Other amazing apps were the firecracker shrimp and tuna. Friends ordered surf and turf and flounder and loved it. We will return! If i wasn’t leaving today. We’d go back tonight. :)

Visited the restaurant on Saturday night and strangely, it was almost empty. The server, Tina did a fabulous job. I ordered a margarita and it was sickeningly sweet with very little tequila in it. I sent it back, no problem. My wife and cousin had the broiled seafood platter and they both commented that it had very little flavor. I had the ribeye steak and grilled shrimp plate. The shrimp were tasty but the steak was below average, a small piece with too much fat around it. We won’t go back given the huge number of high quality restaurants in N. Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach.

I don’t understand why this place has 3.5 stars. I ordered the steamed crab legs bc it was the only thing on the menu that wasn’t fried. Luckily, too, because everyone else in my party who ate any kind of fish spent all night hugging the toilet. Red Lobster would be a better choice…

Menu is slightly limited and pricey but it was very good. 10% off on you boat ride to see the dolphins made it worth it.

On a not very busy Thursday evening, service was a bit slow. Whitefish sandwich was excellent as were the hush dogies. Signature seafood stew was flavorful and well seasoned though scallops(bay) and shrimp were smallish. I find sea scallops and larger shrimp to have more flavor. Also, the portion seemed a bit small for the price. Crab dip was okay, not WOW. Fried sweet corn was new to us and a nice variation — tender and flavorful. Outside deck is small and a bit cramped. Nice to dine looking out on intercoastal.

This jewel of a restaurant(yes that is a pun) should be on everyone’s must try list. The food is absolutely delicious; the hushpuppies alone are worth the trip. The wait staff knows their stuff, and the setting is scenic and charming. Little River has several quirky, independently owned eateries and is a great relief from the over processed chain restaurants available on «Restaurant Row». Please, don’t miss out on Captain Juel’s Hurricane Restaurant!

Over priced but you are paying for the real estate. Had the house salad with grilled mahi and my husband had the fresh fish sandwich with slaw. The mahi was dry and tasteless. The fish sandwich was good — slaw had a lot of sugar. Wouldn’t recommend this place for lunch– price tag around $ 42 and we only had one domestic beer.

Was recommended here after the dolphin tour and blown away with incredible food, atmosphere, and service. Crab dip and fried pickle chips appetizers were delicious! Friend said sushi was fantastic and really big. Would definitely recommend/visit again.

We were down here for a guys golf trip and found this place. Owner was super nice and the food was very very good across the board. 16 guys, so food and drinks took a while but to be expected. I had the cheese grits with blackened Mahi and it was outstanding, as were number of other dishes that my golf buddies had. Keep this guy in business… we will be back next year.

Fantastic service! TY Heidi! Great food. Sushi was awesome. U can’t go wrong with the dynamite roll or the crunchy crab roll. Huge servings! Sashimi salmon and white tuna so delicious. Good house wines. If u get a chance, try the cabbage casserole. We will return again and again!

It may look like a dumpy clam shack from the outside, but the good Captain Juel has quite a few surprises tucked up the sleeve of his captain’s shirt. He has three big dining rooms, a big bar area, and a gorgeous patio deck for dining on the water. We were in town for the Little River Shrimp Festival and stopped in for a snack before our drive back to Pawleys Island. The young guy who served us was polite and efficient. We had a She-Crab Gumbo($ 6.95), a shrimp sandwich(oddly priced at $ 9.92), and coconut shrimp($ 8.95). The food was great. The crab gumbo was decadentl — thick, creamy, crabby, and laced with enough sherry to raise your blood alcohol. I really liked the coconut shrimp– plump perfect shrimp cooked to perfection. We had a real enjoyable meal in a pretty setting. And I have to mention the very funny t-shirt the staff wears– with the epic motto«I left my liver in Little River»…

My husband and I were visiting Myrtle Beach for a week. We decided to visit a seafood restaurant on our last day — Friday at 6pm. I picked this restaurant based on the menu and Unilocal reviews… not many served crab legs and had good reviews in our area. We had a party of 13 so I called ahead to make reservations. But when we got there, they didn’t have a lot of people. The place is not hard to find but it does look like a hole in the wall from the outside. They have their own little parking lot separate from all the other establishments nearby. We ordered the following: Raw oysters — good but not Blue Point Conch fritters — first time trying it. didn’t like it. more bread than conch so I couldn’t tell you what conch tastes like Crab legs — yummy but my father in law said they weren’t fresh. not sure how much that was true Strawberry daiquiri — yum Hush puppies — yummy. sweet Coleslaw — way too sweet Service was great. But I don’t think we were offered dessert. I did see huge pieces of cake being delivered to the table next to us. Great for groups. Accepts reservations. If I return to the area, I may try a different place but their food is worth coming back.
