The nature of the business that this place (and all the same and similar places in their line of work) deals with is morbid and even unwanted/​undesirable in nature. However, such business is a necessity when life takes a turn into the tragic and inevitable reality that it is time to provide the bereaved with some closure and, more importantly, make preparations to say farewell to our dearly departed.
Unfortunately, this is not my first visit to this particular funeral home (and I am resigned to the extreme likelihood that I will be in attendance at either this hometown crematory or those elsewhere through the course of my life). However, though the circumstances that serve prerequisite to one’s visit to this place are wholly unwelcome and garner feelings of remorse and sorrw, the Charles Snyder Funeral Home conduct their business with the utmost sensitivity and professionalism.
The interior is what one would expect of an old school funeral parlor: yellows, whites, flower pots, glass, crystal (standards that most specially welcomed, not a surprise given the demographic of the area)… It balances a very clean and sterile environment without being too stoic and unfeeling; almost like there’s a warmth and comforting aspect to this place. And those aspects of this place are needed dearly when considering the reasons for one’s visits here.
The main room is very spacious and can be set up in a manner that accommodates the religious beliefs of the departed and those covering the funeral expenses (a very appropriate touch, but seeing as how the area is predominantly Anglo-​Saxon, I’d venture a guess that the standard Crucifix is more than sufficient to meet most religious needs here).
Overall, this place provides the necessary service of preparing our departed loved ones in making the next big step (or at the very least, laying them to rest). I pray I won’t ever need to be back to one of these places in the near future, but it’s good to know that you can expect reverence, decency, respect, and impeccable organization if you require the services of this place.
