We had dinner here… it was very good Polish food. I had the pierogi appetizer of 3 different kinds… meat…potato…mushroom. All were very good. My hubby had the smoked salmon and liked it. For dinner I had the beef stroganoff over egg noodles. The beef chunks were extremely tender and the red sauce was very flavorful with a slight creaminess… very good. My hubby had the veal schnitzel with barley, which he liked but was a little dry. Our server was a very nice lady named Edith. Tasty, large portions at fair prices.

This restaurant is a true gem of Polish cuisine. Based on friend’s recommendation we ordered food for a party of 60 people. The guests were mostly Polish and the con census was that the menu is genuine. We received many complements about the quantity but more importantly, the quality. We dealt exclusively with Mr. Sylwester, who was exceptional with the advice offered — he substituted some of our initial selection for items more appropriate for catering. He is a real asset. Our guests left the party full, happy with left over for lunch the next day.

When we first walked in, we were a little nervous because it was not busy at all, that is usually not a good sign on a Saturday night. I am so happy that we stayed and gave it try, because I do not know the last time I enjoyed food so much. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We started with the potato pancake appetizer. It was fantastic. I ordered the House Special Polish Platter. I tried a little of everything, it was all delicious. It had a pork/beef patty, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, perogis, and mashed potatoes. My husband got the kielbasa, he loved it. My daughter got«chicken devolay». She is a picky eater and she loved it. We will definitely be going back. I would recommend Bozena to my family and friends.

We have been here numerous times for the great Polish food, salad bar & a decent Merlot to drink w dinner. The waiter Sylvester is the only game in town, obviously family owned. He’s either in the mood to deal w you or not. On his off Nights, he’s very rude. No patience to deal w you, it’s like we are bothering him by being there in his restaurant. The food is good & cheap, so that’s why we put up w him.

Went to Bozena for my birthday, we actually arrived near closing time, there were just a couple of other tables and a large group celebrating a birthday party. Food was good, not being Polish I can’t say if truly authentic, however it tastes good, like comfort food but in a different palate scale. Chef was already leaving by the time we were done with the entrée, however he(plus our server) was nice enough to make a last minute dessert for us, since since I didn’t had a birthday cake. The other tables + the party were Polish, which talks good about the restaurant, right !? It means their food is pretty close to the real deal, if not the exact same thing.

Not too many Polish restaurants on LI so this was a pleasant surprise. We went with a big group for a 60th birthday party. The waiter took our drink orders right away although there is no beer or wine menu. Basically you ask the waiter if they have a specific brand of beer. His standard answer when you ask for a beer is Polish beer. OK? and the choice is dark, medium or light. My brother-in-law requested a specific Polish beer and they did have it. After that it took a long time to get served our main meals but they do have a nice selection of salads on the table and the salad bar has more options although I avoided the lettuce. It didn’t look fresh but the other Polish salads were very good. We also had platters of peirogis before dinner and they were the best I have ever had. About 2 hours later they served our dinners. I had the Polish platter which included peirogis, kielbasa, beef patty, some other meat and potatoes. This was very good. The restaurant was clean and a large space so it’s great for big groups with kids but if you are in a rush this may not be the place for you.

First Polish restaurant I have ever been to… is it possible I’m Polish and never knew it? Had catfish because I’m an Okie and love catfish(plus hesitant to try new things), my wife had the House Special Polish Platter and I sampled all of hers… Bozena is going to be at the top of our list when we discuss options for a dinner out. It is a unique place… a small salad bar that is obviously fresh with ingredients made in small batches as needed… good service, good prices, and the food was great. While out shopping today I was thinking about the leftover stuffed cabbage in the fridge. If your on the fence, try it!

Our first time here tonight. The Zywiec beer is exceptional, which they feature. The service was prompt, courteous and knew the menu well. We ordered the sampler platter and the 3 meat blintzes. I must say that both plates were hot and very well presented. Both(yes I tried hers too) plates were very very tasty, the sampler all was 5 star except the stuffed cabbage which a. was a little cold, b. was not as sweet as I would think it should be. The other plate which my wife had was simply outstanding in every aspect. We will be back and would recommend this place. it was a great experience over all and well worth the visit. — BTW our waiter Lucas was outstanding. It is refreshing to get service like we had.

Just came out of the restaurant very upset and confused… All I wanted is an order of pirogies, and my husband wanted kielbasa. So waiter comes… and tells us we HAVE to share kielbasa(pay extra), because we have to order one entrée per person. I asked isn’t pierogis entrée? He said no. I asked to make it an entrée… price me double, I don’t care… I just don’t want kielbasa… He said they cannot. So eventually the only solution was to order only appetizers… Then he apologized, like it’s not up to him, but the owner…, but he is the one who people always argue… and if food comes bad people complain to him too, not the owner… So I was like WHAT? Bad food? Is it a hint? He literally laughed in my face(loud). Then he left, I told my husband I want to leave, I don’t feel comfortable to eat there any more… So we said to the waiter to cancel order and he asked me «oh, is it because u think i would poison you?»… Seriously… I don’t know either it really came out wrong… or he meant something… but I am pregnant and no pierogis worth the chance of hurting my baby… I wouldn’t go there again, just weird and unprofessional… Not to mention there was only two more people, and restaurant is pretty big…

Going to get two reviews here. Probably one from my wife. Came here in the past food was good. Came here tonight to order one one polish kielbasa and perogies. My poor starving wife is pregnant ! She wanted perogies as her dinner. But perogies are considered appetiZer. The waiter told me I have to pay a sharing charge. !!! But we don’t want to share. … I don’t understand. Empty restaurant on a Wednesday night and he has to «follow the rules». Wake up! Seriously. some rules are meant to be broken especially to satisfy the customer. pregnant Customer especially. :(.This place starves babies. !!! And to think I was going to have the baby shower here… 100 people! I guess the 4.50 sharing charge was worth it. Wtf!!! So frustrated !! /(

we’ve been coming here to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday for years. I’m not a real big fan of Polish food, but love the Hungarian potato pancakes and goulash, and the beer selection is good too. I logged on to Unilocal to see if Bozena’s menu had changed, as we’ll be going again next week, and get the exact address(it’s sort of hard to notice from the street so I want to use my GPSLOL) and am now excited about trying the blintzes after reading some of the other reviews.

I went to Bozenas for my birthday yesterday with my friends. We ordered 5 appetizers several drinks and 7 entrées as well as desserts. Our food orders covered the full spectrum of what was available. The food was uniformly excellent across the board. Service was responsive and excellent as our waiter made valuable suggestions to us for dinner. The price to value ratio here is about average for this type of restaurant. We all hasd a grreat time and were very happy with Bozenas. Bozenas is a excellent Polish restaurant and I look forward to returning in the near future.

Great Polish restaurant in Lindenhurst! The combo platter and Hungarian goulash were awesome. And even the salad bar is great! And they have the absolute best Ukrainian borscht.

Such delicious food! I highly recommend this restaurant. I gave it a try because I had a coupon from — The décor inside is spacious and beautiful. Instead of spending your money at a chain restaurant give this place a try– I felt like my polish grandmother was in the kitchen preparing me a home cooked meal — with an entrée you also get a plate from the salad bar– everything was so fresh– I cannot wait to go back!

After reading many mostly positive reviews of this Polish-European Restaurant, I was somewhat eager to try it. I typically enjoy trying new and exotic foods. Bozena was not bad by any means, but it wasn’t spectacular either. First, the location is easy to miss. It’s located on Merrick Rd. in Lindenhurst in a rather plain looking building, that could easily be mistook for an office building, if you didn’t notice the signage. You then park around back and enter from the rear of the building. When you walk in, you might think your here for little Marc Epsteins’s bar-mitzvah as it appears this place was a catering hall at some point, complete with crystal chandeliers and decorative swag curtains throughout. As expected, it was far from busy. We were handed menus and seated near the window. They have all the typical Polish delicacies here including pierogi, kielbasa, goulash, stroganoff and kasha. Each entrée comes with salad bar, which is small, but had fresh greens and cucumber salad. We decided to order shrimp in garlic cream sauce and a House Special Platter, that samples a little of everything(stuffed cabbage, meat patty, kielbasa, pierogi and kasha. See photos. I felt the pierogis were mushy and did not have that crispy exterior and soft interior that I prefer. The kielbasa was excellent and had a nice snap to it. The meat patty was dry, and the stuffed cabbage was fair. My wife liked her shrimp, but didn’t care for the buckwheat /kasha. We only saw one staff person who was likely the owner. We decided to stay for dessert and the waiter /owner recommended the cheese blintz. This was the bast thing that came out of the kitchen that night. We should have ordered two, rather then fight over one. I’d return to Bozena on occasion, but it needs some work to really sparkle like the chandeliers.

WOW! I don’t know how else to start this review. Let me begin by saying, I did not know what to expect when we talked about going here a couple weeks ago. Good pierogis, perhaps some vodka. Let me tell you, nothing can prepare you for this experience! We walked in the back door, and at that point I felt like I went down the rabbit hole. The décor is mid 90’s, there is a large dance floor in the center. There was a salad bar with a light that worked when it wanted to. Several large parties all speaking polish and having a blast. The music was reminiscent of 90’s club music but in polish and I think recent. So we started with the pirogi sampler. The were all first class. Then the kielbasa platter. Let me tell you, one of the best kielbasa I’ve had! Not to salty, crisp exterior, tender and flavorful inside! And hands down the best goulash that has ever crossed my lips! All the time sipping on large glasses of ice cold polish beer. The large family seated across from of us(at least 13 people) had to be regulars. I don’t know if this was a special occasion or their average Saturday night here, but they looked at very familiar, with a bottle of Johnny Walker as well as a 2ltr bottle of Pepsi on the table. Either way I was envious of do feeling so at home in a restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, we were treated like family, distant family, but family none the less. I asked our waiter for some vodka and he quickly offered me a free pitcher if I could finish it before he finished his. Not a challenge I’d normally turn down, but I know when I’m outmatched. I’m giving them 5 stars because the food was outstanding, the service was warm and eager to please, and the experience was enjoyable as it was unique! A must try!

Hands down, the most incredible Polish food I have ever had. This food tastes like it is prepared by a little old Polish grandmother in the back. A” home cooking” feeling all the way. The Goulash over noodles may have just been in one of the top 3 meals I’ve ever had in life! Superb! They had some really great and strong Polish beers which they serve from very large bottles into very large glasses which were quite nice! Service was very good. This is obviously a family-run establishment; our waiters were a father and son team that seemed to manage a full dining room with ease. Let them know if it is your first time dining here and they will offer you and array of solid recommendations. All entrees come with their very fresh«salad bar» which is not your typical salad bar. Think: potato dill salads, cucumber and onion, tuna with relish. All fresh and very good, just different. Lol, the bulbs of the salad bar itself had a short in it so it was flickering like a strobe light. Weirdness. Ok so onto the strange ambiance of the place that other reviewers have mentioned: I probably would not have come here if it were not for the coupon, but what a pleasant surprise! I didn’t know what to expect from the outside since the restaurant itself looks like a non-descript office building. Once inside however, one feels like they could have stepped back in time to a Polish wedding reception in Warsaw, circa 1990. I went on a Saturday night, so there was a huge private party, separated by draw curtains, of all Polish speaking people(we probably were the only ones speaking English). Polish music was being DJ’d overhead intertwined with 90’s to current«dance» music. There were bottles of Johnny Walker Red and 2L bottles of Pepsi on the tables next to mine(not that there’s anything wring with that!). I just have to say it was a little strange, but it just kind of worked since I was all about the«traditional Polish experience.» I think most people would not appreciate this however as it kind of teetered on the bizarre, but just take note of this prior to going and keep and open mind. You may be pleasantly enlightened! Your stomach definitely will be!

It is hard to find decent Polish food outside of certain areas. For some reason outside of the Polish communities, it doesn’t seem to have caught on the way some of the other ethnic cuisines have. Ever since I had my first perogi at a country fair, I was hooked! This is as fresh and homemade as you will find … there is literally a Polish woman in the back making everything from scratch. This is a family run restaurant and somewhere I will certainly come back to. This restaurant feels like Europe. From the Polish internet radio playing in the background to the European style décor(think polished wood floors, banquet style tables with white tablecloths and ornate wallpaper with crystal light fixtures. There is nothing fancy about this place … it feels kind of like a wedding reception venue … BUT, having spent time in Europe … this is the design that you would see at most family run restaurants there. It is not an Americanized over the top lounge with marble everywhere and dark colors and mood lighting. It is what it is … a European restaurant. They have several Polish beers in the bottles … big bottles … and all are served with a large glass mug. The beers are served lukewarm as they are in Europe. The waitor is very knowledgeable about the different beers in case you need a refresher course in your Polish beers. The menu is vast and features many dishes you would expect to find in Poland without going over the top with a too cute theme. You find some staples such as perogi, keilbasa and stuffed cabbage. But other stuff that would appease an Americanized taste such as fish and steak. The salad bar is big but I think it should include soup. Or, you be given the choice of salad or soup. One thing I noticed is that the owners are very inflexible about changing orders around. If the dish comes with 3 different types of perogi, you cannot change and ask for 3 of the same. What is on the menu is what you get … no substitutions … no flexibility. The salad bad is good though … I liked the fresh pickles and the fresh Cole Slaw was very good. One thing I can’t get used to is that perogis are considered an appetizer … when I was in Europe we used to eat them for dinner. I could easily eat 7 or 8 of them, which isn’t recommended because they are basically dough and filling. The perogi here are as thick as a ‘pastie pie’ in England! I couldn’t believe how thick the perogi were! I would prefer to get the cheese/potato and saurkraut perogis as a meal … but they are available only as an appetizer or as part of the House Combo Plate. I got the house combo plate because I wanted both Keilbasa and Perogi. The Keilbasa was hands down the BEST I have ever eaten! I have never tasted such smokey and flavorful keilbasa. I was told it was house smoked, and it shows! The stuffed cabbage I had was so-so. It was kind of cold in the middle and lukewarm everywhere else. I only ate a piece. The perogi were amazing. More of a small folded pie size(think mini Polish calzone ha ha) than what I am used to and different filling than what I am used it, but very tasty. I’d order two appetizer size plates as my meal next time. The meal also included a ‘meat pie’ which I thought I was going to shove off to the side when I ordered the plate, but after trying a bite … I ate the whole thing and thought it was the best thing on the plate. I am glad I started off with the sample platter but for next time am ready to be a bit more adventurous! You can’t get better tasting Polish food without going to Poland. I highly recommend you stop in for a change of pace sometime … another favorite European restaurant of mine in the Lindenhurst area is The Village Lanterne for German food.

When I go to Bozena with my Polish friends the service and food are always better. The last time we went there, I brought my wife and the service and food were not as good. From the moment we walked in the waiter seemed annoyed that we were there. He immediately informed us that there was no bread(how does a restaurant run out of bread?). The service was slow and cold all night. The waiter never smiled. He was the most serious person I have ever met. Although the service is not the best, I love their salad bar(fresh authentic Eastern European cabbage, carrot and beet salads which come complimentary with your dinner). They also have a very nice selection of Polish beers. For the appetizer, we ordered the choice of three for $ 14.95 which included the perogi, stuffed cabbage and smoked salmon. It was a great choice – everything tasted authentic and homemade! But we needed some bread for the salmon. The best dish I’ve had there in the past was the Hungarian Pancake, a potato pancake topped with spicy pork goulash, prepared with tomato and paprika and served with sour cream… YUM! My wife ordered the fish of the day special and it was delicious – cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The only major problem was with my entrée, the Horseradish Beef, boiled and then sliced beef served in creamy horseradish sauce. It tasted old; like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days and then was warmed up in the microwave. I would never order it again. I was kicking myself for not getting the Hungarian Pancake again. The dessert was delicious! I would highly recommend the cheese blintz lightly fried and served with sour cream and fruit jam, topped with raspberry sauce.

Awesome. The bigos is a must! The kielbasa is amazing and I love the boiled pierogis! The beer is also a plus. At night the salad bar gets depleted so come closer to 5 and get the beet salad.
