There aren’t many restaurants in NJ that serve Polish food, so I was excited when I found out about this one. I came here on a Friday night to have dinner /drinks with a friend. It was VERY crowded and you definitely need to make reservations the«Abigail’s Plate» entrée which consists of pierogies, stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut with Polish kielbasa. AT $ 12.95, this meal is a bargain and it is DELICIOUS. I had a white sangria with dinner which was also very good. Highly recommend this place if you like Polish cuisine. Even if you don’t like Polish cuisine, there are many other cuisines to choose from.

Love this place. I think its a true gem. Great quality food and a cozy décor. I ignored this place for a really long time because of the location. When i finally went in and had the food/drinks I was totally surprised. Now i frequent quite offen. Ive had their seafood on numerous occassions and my girlfriend loved their burger. Great sangria with many different flavors. Perfect for a lunch date.

Worst Spanish food I ever had … For a lunch special of rice beans and beef I payed $ 8 way over price and food had no flavor

Visit here every time I travel this way. The borsch was amazing — not overly thick, perfectly hot with little kreplachs in it! Fantastic. Service is always great. Good wine prices and decent selection. Would be even better if happy hour prices extended outside the bar area! The sangria looks awesome and there are different varieties to order. Trying that next time.

At first when you tell people you went to a Portuguese/Polish place they kinda look at you and say huh? But let me say it works big time and makes sense considering the location and local flair of the area. We took my mom for mothers day and my parents are not easy to please when it comes to new places to eat and they loved it! We all basically had the polish cuisine with the potato pancake appetizer and then the Abigail plate in one form or another and then mixed in a pitcher of peach sangria which was perfect. The service was good not great but considering the big crowd understandable. The lighting was perfect however some music would have helped. We were not rushed and the staff made you feel at home. We will be back for sure! Keep up the good work Chris!

Abigail’s never fails to let me down — ever! It means a lot to return to an establishment time and time again and you’re able to expect the same quality and great tasting meals. I’ve been here 17 times! Sangria counts as a meal! Came here yesterday for Thirsty Thursday with an old boss of mine, and we automatically ordered the red sangria. They do have other favors if you’re adventurous, such as yummy grape, mango, red apple, peach, and many more. $ 20 pitcher for Thursday’s. Bring your boozey friend. We started with the usual appetizers of clams in garlic sauce, shrimps and scallops, and chorizo. These are like the holy trinity. Order and thank me after. For my entrée I got the ever tasty and well balanced steak Gorgonzola Alfredo. The steak was cooked to medium as I asked, and the pasta noodles were al dente. The presentation is always clean and plentiful. Love love this dish! Topped it all off with the limoncello cake. If I could order it by the pie I would. A must try!

My girlfriend and I went here today. My first time here. Started with pierogies, probably the best I’ve ever had. Then I got the skirt steak, medium rare, saying that it was perfectly seasoned and cooked is an understatement. Also, we ordered the medium pitcher of sangria, they said it was six glasses, it’s probably more like 8 or 9. My New favorite restaurant hands down!

Hadn’t been back in a while but always a good decision to go. We had reservations with another couple on a Saturday evening for 8:00 and arrived 5 – 10 minutes early and was still seated. They began by placing some nice bread on the table with dipping oil. The bread didn’t seem the freshest but the dipping oil was tasty. We began with a large pitcher of Peach Sangria. It doesn’t matter what flavor Sangria you order, they are all excellent. Plenty of taste and fruit. We placed an order of the fried calamari which has always been very good here. It’s always temperature hot and calamari is fresh and not frozen. Good portion for the four of us. I ordered the Paella Marinara which was excellent. A huge pot of shrimp, scallops, clams, musssels, lobster tail, and rice. Plenty of each fish in the paella. Our table also ordered the broiled Salmon with the potato dumplings, the steak special, and the Hawaiian cutlet. Every plate went back empty. Good size portions but not to much where you need to take it home. We had the carrot cake for dessert and a round of coffees. The presentation of the carrot cake was very nice but I’ve had better. Coffee was good. All the food was cooked fresh. The prices on any of the entrees are so fair and reasonable it’s amazing they make money. They could easily charge more but that what makes this place so special. The service started out a bit slow and we were worried for a while. This place is always busy and on weekends, very loud. There is no parking lot but you can park across the street at the Grill and there is on the street parking.

As a Portuguese-American, it’s very difficult for me to be impressed by any Portuguese /Mediterranean restaurants outside of Newark, NJ area. Abigail’s proved me wrong. The Portuguese — Polish mix that you can find here is a surprising mix, but one that I won’t complain about. The Portuguese Chourico comes with a sauce that has a delicious kick to it. The Picadinho is always on point as well. If you come here when it’s beautiful outside, I highly recommend sitting OUTSIDE! Also, make sure to check out the Sangria Board on the wall to see all of the different flavors they have. Mango, Peach, and Classic Red are my favorites!

Cute little place. The sangria is great here, like out of this world good. The food is surprisingly good as it seems like a bar more than a restaurant when you first walk in. Service is attentive. The clams in white wine and garlic sauce are awesome. My friend almost kicked the plate clean. I would definitely come here again, and plan to. Recommend to anyone in the area

Have I told you how much I love Abigails? No? Ok, I love Abigails. When my beau and I can’t figure out where we want to eat, we go to Abigails because we know we’re going to have a great meal. So we found ourselves here again recently and once again, it never disappoints. For being a 2pm on a Sunday it was packed! I did see a few tables that were open but all had a «reserved» sign on them which was disappointing because some of these tables were never taken the entire time we were there. We decided to just sit at the bar and eat which was fine. Lately my meal of choice has been the schabowy. Don’t ask me how to pronounce it because I can’t. I usually point to it on the menu and go «that!» It’s basically a pork schnitzel which comes with mashed taters and a side of a beet salad and cucumbers in a yogurt sauce. You MUST order the pork topped with cheese and a fried egg. Heaven. When I die and go to heaven I want schabowy from Abigails. Parking can be tough, and the gas station across the street has about 4 spots for Abigails, so most of the time we ended up parking on the street. But they must have secured spots at the diner across the way because the restaurant had signs indicating you can now park there. Can’t wait for the warmer weather to come back and enjoy some sangria on the outdoor patio.

I have been to Abigail’s at least 10 times now. I don’t know how I have not written a review yet. I have worked in the Food and Beverage industry over 20 years and I must say that I have yet to have a bad meal. Everything is delicious! What I also commend is their consistency. No matter what day of the week I go, the food is always the same. Consistency is the biggest challenge I find when dining out. It’s fresh & delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. They also run great specials. The staff and atmosphere is not over the top but it’s casual and the speed of service is good. The bartenders are not overly engaged with the guests because of the service bar needs. I never care. My food comes out on time and it’s always amazing. I really can’t say enough about this place. Must try!

Omg… Amazing food. Great combo for Portuguese and Polish food. Atmosphere was adorably quaint. Pirogies as app were great. I had the stuffed cabbages, my friend had the Hungarian pancake w goulash. Both were amazing. No leftovers going home. Can’t wait to go back and try something else.

I heard good things about this place from people i know and with great regret, this place was BAD! Had the red Sangria. It was terrible. Tasted watered down. The restaurant wasn’t even busy and the service was slow. The server didn’t bother asking us if everything turned out alright and if we wanted a refill on our other drinks. Yet she was running around like the place was packed.(It was at about 30% capacity) Bit minor, but come on, it was slow. The food was subpar. I had the Portuguese steak. Bad. wife had the Portuguese soup. Decent. and son had the pasta Alfredo. Olive Garbage(garden) is better. And we all know how bad that place is. Price: $ 57. Not worth it. Over all, this place isn’t worth ones time. I’m truly surprised by all the strong ratings. There are very good restaurants in the area that serve similar food and would feel as if you got your money’s worth. This place is advertised as European cuisine, but seriously, perogies, Portuguese and american wraps just don’t flow together. I grew up eating Portuguese food and this slop is not Portuguese. Want better Portuguese food and sangria? go to valencias in Elizabeth or Fernandez in Newark and old bridge.

Love the concept of a Portuguese/Polish restaurant. The food was very tasty too. For starters, we all enjoyed the various pirogies as well as the shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce that also had a spicy kick to it. While the shrimp sauce was great, the shrimp themselves were a little tough to chew. My wife said her paella was delicious but could have had some more seafood in it. I enjoyed my steak gorgonzola opting for a vegetable with it instead of the linguini Alfredo. Marty enjoyed his bronzino served with risotto while Ellen said her snapper was tasty but tough… sounded like the shrimp appy. The sangria was enjoyed but the group. The place is very noisy and service is really just OK. It did seem like out waiter had a lot of tables, possibly too many since we at times felt neglected. Prices are relatively inexpensive and I already recommended this place to a friend who went and enjoyed it.

My food was good, was just lacking salt to bring out the flavor. The Apple Sangria was delicious, the only real downfall was the slow Service. 7÷31÷15 — I feel like I’ve been here a dozen time now, the food is excellent, however the rice was a little bland so I used the sauce from my rice to add a little flavor. I topped the meal off with a glass of Apple Sangria, «De-Lish!!»
