Just a stone’s throw away from picturesque Camden and its harbor is a slice of shoreline that is perfect for dipping your toes in. It’s also probably a great place to bring the kiddos to play, what with the smooth stones made for skipping and the tiny crabs running through the shallows. One morning in July, I made my way up here — stopping for coffee at the log cabin on the way — and got to to enjoy the peace and quiet. The smell of the briny sea air filled my nostrils, water lapped quietly on the shore like a rhythmic heartbeat, and Cadillac Mountain was visible through a slight mist in the distance. Who says heaven on earth doesn’t exist? I may have just found it in Maine.

Cute beach in the center of town. It was packed when we went, but that was pretty cool. Plus, it was dog friendly!
