A nice place to come and wander around for a few hours on a Saturday morning. Market begins at 8am with a sound of a whistle and ends at noon. There are a wide variety of vendors, from your traditional produce, to baked goods, to crafts. Some are over priced so shop around first as in any market. It can get hot because of the lack of breeze in the area. Sadly no pets allowed.

This farmers market is pretty extensive and covers most of the downtown hay market area. It’s on Saturday mornings in the summer. There are a variety of booths around the area including produce, crafts, and local restaurants. It’s probably the biggest one I’ve been to in Lincoln. You could wander for quite some time to all the booths. I’ve been there a couple times and haven’t been super impressed by any of the vendors or the prices. Sometimes Le cupcake is there and I like to pick up a cupcake but as far as produce goes it’s cheaper to stop at one of the street vendors that are at various locations around Lincoln. I’ve also been pretty pleased with the old Cheney farmers market. All in all, it’s a fun event in the summer to go down to. Maybe pick up a treat from a local vendor, but not my top choice for produce.

If you want to get up early on Saturday morning and feel like you are doing something, then go to the Haymarket Farmer’s Market. They have a lot of activity. Feels quite like a swap meet. If you were looking to buy a week’s worth of fresh produce to cook with you would likely come up short, even in the summer. It’s a great place to be seen on Saturday morning by other people. Over the years I feel it’s taken a nose dive into the world of junk and away from actual Farmers. The areas surrounding Lincoln are particularly rich with local farmers who grow and raise amazing goods. They are not the feature at the Haymarket Farmer’s Market. These wonderful hard working people are in there… somewhere…in between the candles, dream catchers, puppets, yikyaks and sundry of other junk. It is always crowded and loud. Great for business in the Haymarket not necessarily ideal for consumers. Unless of course you’ve run out of dream catchers.

much better than the farmers markets Ive been to in Iowa and Missouri recently. over 120 vendors. good parking close by. I wish they would allow dogs again. That is always part of the fun of good farmers market. My youngest digs the fountain, jungle gym and saturday morning kolaches and brownies.

Eh… not so impressed. This was more arts & crafts show than farmers market. Yes I realize it is a bit early in the season to be commenting on the lack of harvest but seriously, all I have seen thus far is tomato plants, petunias and some really poor quality gouda(ick, ick, ick!) Stay tuned for mid-summer’s review.

From : «The Haymarket lives up to its name each Saturday morning as farm fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and handmade items from over 100 vendors are sold on the streets and sidewalks.» The Haymarket Farmers Market runs Saturdays 8:00am to Noon May-October. Take a virtual tour here: This has become very popular over the years. It’s a fun place to pick up some fresh local produce, flowers, baked goods(kolaches!), kettle corn, crafts, jellies/jams, art, artisan cheeses, and more! Dogs are no longer allowed, but it is a great family activity. Even if you don’t buy anything, there is live music at the train station, and you can usually snag some free samples. The smells are wonderful, and the people-watching is sometimes even more fun. If you’re visiting from out of town, this is only a few blocks from the Holiday Inn Downtown or Embassy Suites hotel. Stop by on Saturday morning & grab some fresh-baked breakfast or find a cool souvenir to take home.
