I love the charm & history of this place, thus the two stars, but that’s about as far as it goes. I’d heard from all my friends how great the food was. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Either way, it was overpriced and not that good. I ordered the Grilled Buffalo Chicken Salad with Blue Cheese. What I got was a honking iceburg lettuce wedge with fake cheese and bacon bits sprinkled on top. Beside that was a little pile of tomatoes and beside that, the chicken. So technically, I didn’t even get a salad at all! The grilled chicken wasn’t an actual breast they grilled themselves. It looked and tasted like something from Tyson… the kind that already come with the fake«grill» marks and seasoned for convenience. It was slathered with buffalo sauce and topped with loads of fake cheese. For eight bucks, I could have easily duplicated this in my own kitchen, only I would have used real cheese, real bacon & grilled my own chicken breast! The most annoying thing was the plastic basket lined with foil that your food comes in. Every time I would cut my wedge of lettuce or my chicken, the foil would rip and get mixed up in my food! Also, I was pretty shocked at how rude the owners were. We weren’t greeted when we came in except by our waitress. They sat at a booth the entire time we ate, and not once did they come over and ask how we liked our food, or thanked us for coming. Fortunately, our waitress was sweet & very attentive. As far as giving it another try… I’ll save my money for the Mennonite store down the street. You get a salad for five bucks and it’s so loaded with REAL cheese, meat & bacon, you can barely finish it… and that’s the small size!

I do not usually post negative reviews. But after my experience today I wanted it to go on the record if anything for improvement. I had not gone to pilot hill in about a year because of a bad experience last time(was not bad enough to blacklist, just put me off for a while). This used to be a normal Friday lunch outing for me and my coworkers. Today I took my fiancé and her father out there to show them. I order a double cheeseburger with bacon, plain nothing else on it. In a pretty timely fashion it arrived at the table, but with everything on it. I politely said«oh that was supposed to be plain» the waitress said sorry and went back to the kitchen. I then heard some arguing in the kitchen, I couldn’t make out what was being said though. After about 2 minutes she came back and said I forgot to write plain on the ticket. I knew they hadn’t had time to remake it. I looked and everything had just been scraped off. There was still all kinds of sauces on the meat, cheese, and fries. I then told her about that and she said sorry again and went back to the kitchen. About 1 minute later it was back again. This time with a piece of the cheese torn off where the sauce was but still not satisfactory. By this time my family had finished eating and I was just sitting there about to try and eat it anyway because I was starving. The owner walked by and said«what’s the problem» and I told her what happened and she said«he put a new bun on it, I dont understand what the problem is» and then picked up my sandwich bare hands after working the cash register and went through the layers, laid it back down and said«are you going to finish it or do you want me to take it off the bill» I was amazed at what I had just seen and so I told her to take it off. We then paid for my family’s portion and left. There were no apologies no «I’m Sorry» from the owner, I was made to feel like I had done something wrong and that it was my fault and I was inconvenient to them. I don’t know if I will be back or not but as of today I was left very disappointed and hungry.
