Good thrift shopping. It’s a big store in terms of square footage. I ended up more interested in the history of the building itself. It house the former Rice Dairy Company when first occupied. May have been a department store at one time or another.

This is a big and great thrift store– no air conditioner so it gets hot sometimes ‘me hearty. They have an awesome selection of children’s clothing, books, furniture, hangers & check out the tourist leis at the front– so much cheaper than at a local market.

Not a bad spot to hit up, especially if you want to kill a little time before leaving the island. Located right by a gas station(great for filling up rental before leaving). Didn’t find any creepy guys in the children’s book department thank goodness. It was hot as all hell in here though. Dear Lord. It’s possible the back room housed the gate to Hell. I could be wrong. Decent selection. If you live on Kauai, definitely check out for the furniture. There were two huge back rooms with all kinds of furniture. I’m jealous Oahu doesn’t have anything like that! Prices were really great too– less expensive than Goodwill. I think they do military and/or Kama’aina rates too on clothes. I wouldn’t say the clothes were really great options. Not a lot of women’s stuff and not much at all in juniors type clothes. Decent baby clothes selections. Men’s was okay. Worth a shot– I did get a really cute dress there and I think it was only like $ 2.

Like a moth to a flame, so am I drawn to thrift stores. Also, like that moth, sometimes you get barbecued by a bug zapper you weren’t expecting and go down in a blaze of glory. I’d give this thrift store more stars if they were a little better organized. It’s also a little creepy that they allow randoms to watch various sporting events on a TV in the entertainment/children’s books area, all day. It kind of deters those of us who’d like to look through that section. Particularly if said randoms are men who are blatantly eye-undressing you. Ewwww. That being said, this is one of the larger thrift stores on Kauai and they have a better selection of furniture than most of the other thrift stores. It’s common knowledge that you should wash/clean/sanitize/autoclave anything you buy at a thrift store but I would say that particularly applies to this one as well. Things just seem kind of dingy. Tip: They take cards only for totals over $ 10 and each week they have a different special on specific departments. I happened to score the week they had the special on children clothes.
