Warm sushi is never a good thing. Overcooked edamame till its mush also sucked. When I sent the sushi back the waiter says«You must be from California». Yes I say, how did you know? He answers that people in California are used to good sushi. So even he knows it’s crap. Too bad there are no other options at this nice resort.

Loved the all you could easy breakfast every morning looking out to the pool and ocean! They offered gluten-free muffins, not the best but the banana gluten free muffins were good. Free salmon for lox, make am omelet and waffle station, etc. Way too much to list! Delicious everyday!

We ate here three time during our stay at the Marriott. All three times we had good service and good food. The staff was very accommodating to my special food requests which made it all the more enjoyable. They definitely have a slower pace going but it made the night more relaxing. The restaurant is good for kids too. I’m a fan of bok choy and really liked the garlic bok choy on the menu. We would definitely come back.

There new menu is awful. Service was very slow. And the complimentary desert was a cookie in cellophane bag

We’ve had breakfast here twice and the buffet is pretty good with lots of options and a good omelette bar. Our primary complaint with this place is the price. $ 30 – 40 dollars per person is pretty high considering the quality and options. For someone who doesn’t eat the sushi or other fish options it’s even worse. Good place to stop by for brunch if you’ve got an appetite and want to pack in a lot of food!

The breakfast buffet is bomb. And the sushi at night! It was bomb and convenient! Especially, if youre staying at the Martiott, no need to leave!

Kukui’s breakfast buffet is the utter disappointment of the Kaua’i Marriott. I adore this hotel, but the Food and Beverage manager needs to be schooled on how to run a $ 35 per head buffet. We were ignored and needed to be reseated and I finally had to take matters into my own hands. It took another 10 minutes for anyone to come wait on us. The selection is lacking and there’s not a lot of attentiveness of the wait staff. You’d be better off heading to the ocean and grabbing a fish with your bare hands than getting help from these people. Thanks, but I’ll pass next time.

My husband and I have eaten here three times while on our visit to Kauai. It helps that it’s on resort and so it made for an easy meal. My favorite thing was the Hawaiian nachos. So good! You must get them! My husband had the chop steak, which is actually ribeye, and comes out similar to fajitas –minus the tortilla– but comes with rice instead. I liked his meal more than the chili shrimp, so if your debating– definitely go with the steak. So yum! We also did their buffet on prime rib and King crab night. A little pricey but several options for sides and salads, so I would say it was worth it. Would have given it 5 stars but they forgot my drinks with my to go order the first night I ordered. So really 4.5 stars honestly. Worth a visit!

Huge let down compared to last year’s Mother’s Day Brunch Buffett. We won’t be coming back. Last year there was a dessert bar, crab legs, fish & a professional photographer taking family photos. This year the omelet station had a huge line & once you got your omelet it was horribly dry & overcooked. We spent way too much money for a very disappointing Mother’s Day meal.

Ate here as it is right in the Marriott resort. Staff was friendly and the food was good. A bit pricey but you pay for convenience. Not a bad place.

Been a here a few times, it’s the family’s to go place for special occasions. The prime rib and crab legs are good, sometimes tend to be salty. They also have a variety of other fare, salads, maki sushi, fish, chicken, beef. The also have a variety of desserts. Service isn’t always attentive but all in all, a nice place to eat food.

Ate here twice on our trip. The first night was great. Our waiter was very attentive and even made conversation with us. The food came out in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious! We ordered the chicken karaage and nachos. The second time we came for dinner, it was so bad. Our waiter took forever to get our drink orders and had no personality whatsoever. I think he was just over it and couldn’t wait for his shift to end. The Korean BBQ buffet was pathetic. Can’t believe it was $ 36/person. I wouldn’t even have been satisfied if it were $ 15/person.

I’ve eaten at Kukui’s a few times having only checked in on Unilocal just once. The food here is good and unfortunately Lihue has very few choices for breakfast(The closest rival to Kuku’s was the bohemian restaurant, now closed, Feral Pig). The buffet here is stellar and one never leaves hungry. The view is nice too, however, be prepared for sticker shock as resort prices are in effect here. Your wallet will not thank you(especially if you have a large crowd) but your taste buds will!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I was staying at the Marriott for a bit on my honeymoon and I am writing this review because my wife left the Kukui’s bar crying on 10⁄7 because the bartender Richard was disrespectful and out of line on many different occasions. In summary, a newlywed couple was practicing their wedding dance and Richard came over to tell them that they were being too loud and they needed to stop. The rest of the restaurant area was being overly loud and having fun, so it was curious that he would do this to begin with. The couple left the bar after an altercation with Richard, and he continued to put the blame on us because we were sitting in the same vicinity. I had a discussion with the manager Shelby after continued blame from Richard, and she assured me that Richard would apologize to my wife and everything was a case of mistaken identity. On Shelby’s recommendation, my wife and I went back down to the Kukui bar. My wife tried to have a discussion with Richard by starting off with a simple drink order, but he continued his disrespect. He wouldn’t engage us, even after Shelby said that she would have a conversation with him. His disrespect caused my wife to want to leave for a second time… in tears. I found Shelby to discuss this issue with her. She told me that I need to attend to my wife and this is not her issue. I have worked in service/bartending/waiting tables for many years, and if there is one thing that I know… it is that it is 100% that manager’s responsibility to make sure that the customers are 100% happy. Especially if you have an employee with outside issues that he is taking out on his guests(I was told by other bartender’s/wait staff that Richard was dealing with serious personal/family issues). All we were looking for was an apology from the bartender. But it looks like the manager made a false promise and turned the entire night into a big fiasco. Many other guests came up to us saying that they have had many similar issues with the same staff all night. I am not here to pass judgment… just to share my experience.

At night there is no receptionist to seat you so you need to hunt them down. Same for the waiter. We had five people. Four of the orders were correct but the spinach salad we ordered was a regular salad and came 10 minutes after the hot food. I think the biggest problem is the night management that allows the hordes of workers in front of the cooking area to «talk story» for hours on end while the customers go wanting for better service. Get it together Marriott, this is a five star resort and Kukui’s is not Denny’s.

Had a few hours to kill before our flight so decided to come back to Kalapaki Beach and enjoy the negative ions and a few Pina coladas. We walked in from beachside and couldn’t find two chairs together at the bar so ended up walking through the entire restaurant with a waiter escorting us to a young hostess. This restaurant is located on the beachside of the Marriott and poolside so there is a lot to look at. We noticed only a few fans over tables and a Korean Barbecue buffet along the way. It was pretty steamy humid. Imagine our surprise when we told the hostess we were just looking for drinks and appetizers and she asked for our room number. She said oh, that’s totally fine that you are not staying here, you can sit at the bar. She tried to tell us she could see 4 seats together at the bar. What? We asked for something under a fan, she said they weren’t working, then she changed it to they haven’t turned them on yet.(As we walked past 2 fanned areas) At this point my friend called her on it. Finally we were seated in the ocean front area which was breezy and perfect. My friend asked our waiter to send over the manager. Found out the hostess was leaving in a just over a week. Even the waiters were looking forward to her departure. Her head wasn’t here anymore. We weren’t hungry as we had been bingeing at all the last of my bookmarks but, they had these amazing Taro rolls and biscuits with Furekake. The spicey garlic edamame was tasty. The inside out California roll was a disappointment. The Godiva chocolate Pina Colada was interesting. When our bill arrived we were comped everything but the sushi roll. 2 rounds of Pina coladas! Very nice note to end our trip. We still had some amazing mangos from the farmers market that we couldn’t take with us so we shared them with our waiter and the manager.

We stopped in here a couple of times for the breakfast buffet. There is a lot of outdoor seating. You get great views of the pool area and even the ocean. The staff is friendly. The quality of food was pretty good for a buffet. They have some local options like Portuguese sausage. There are also options like Eggs Benedict. That is not something you see often on buffets. Of course there is an omelette station too. We did not make it in here for any other meal, but if you are staying at the resort this is a good breakfast or brunch option.

The fantastic view of Kalapaki Beach is worth the price of admission alone. We went there for a family brunch and everyone was impressed by the beautiful location. It feels like you’re looking at the scene of a Hollywood movie set. It’s also next to the resort pool, which is very Vegas-esque and a sight to behold itself. The food was also excellent and the service top-notch. My favorite dish was the shrimp and grits — quite delicious. I think Kikui’s is a bit underrated on Unilocal
