Employees bathroom filthy! 1star because the food was decent from previous experience. But went there last week and just finished a phone call out on the side when I asked an employee coming out the back where the rest rooms were. He pointed to the bathroom in the back of the kitchen, not the public restaurant bathroom. No toilet paper, no soap, no paper towels or dryer! filthy!!! So I am assuming the employees don’t wash their hands… Got my family out of there and left. You should too

Good Korean Food at a reasonable price. Fast and friendly service. I’ll go back again.

This is not authentic Korean food. I ordered Bibim guksoo. It came with Chinese cabbage, zucchini and ramen noodles smothered in sesame seed oil! Any Korean reading this will get it.

I had heard mostly good things about the restaurant, so took my Mother for lunch. The food was good, I had the Jun meat and portions was generous for ordering the small plate. Why I give a not so good rating is that the place was very dirty and dingy. I can honestly say it was the dirtiest restaurant I ever ate at, outside of India. Even then most restaurants there were cleaner. It almost made it hard to eat in there! I started to loose my appetite as I looked at the seats, walls, ceiling, tables and floors. And the rags they were wiping the tables with.

Despite the low rating from Unilocal,I still want to give this local restaurant a try. The restaurant appears to be family own by a Korean couple(I could be totally wrong). With the wife serving tables along side with a husband who is a cook(serving/cleaning) table as well. I am a fan of Korean food and was shocked that they only gave us one small plate of Kim Chi as an appetizer. Normally, Korean restaurants offer four different types of Kim Chi at the least. For entrée, we ordered a bimbimp and Kaibi with rice. The Kaibi that I ordered was actually very delicious. It was seasoned well and the meat was tendered. But with the portion I get, I think $ 16 is a bit pricy. My friend did not enjoy the bimbimp at all. Not to mention it wasn’t served on a hot stone like most places do. He didn’t finish his meal and was eating off my plate. I am glad that I try it but will probably not come back here again. Hopefully, their food will improve over the years to come. I’m always a fan of supporting local restaurants.

I’ve had the worse service here. We sat on a table that still had the previous customers dinner dishes and was given menus. We were then given the broth which was cold and kimchee without utensils. Waited 10 minutes for utensils. Then 20 minutes to finally order. Our water came in dirty cups. The waitress had a t shirt and baggy shorts that looked like pajamas. There were six of us. We were short a water, a bowl of rice and sauce. It took almost 50 minutes to finally get our food. The portions were small but the food was good. Unfortunately, three of the six of us, the three who had the same dish ended up with the worse tummy aches and diarrhea. May have been food poisoning. Worse experience ever and I’ve eaten here before and never had this happen, very disappointed.

The only reason this place is getting one star is the portion of food they give you! We had reservations on a Friday night for 6:30. There was a group of 4 people that arrived there one minute before us, so when the lady asked us to sit, it was 6:31. And I told her we had reservations for 7. She said, «you late. Friday, very busy.» Mind you, we were waiting for the other 4 to show, but 3 of us were there. Yes, we should’ve all been there, but isn’t that what reservations are for?! But they were literally down the road at the stop light waiting to turn. She put up a curtain between the 4 people that she sat right before us, told us to sit and that a table near us was going to open up soon so our other people could sit there! We weren’t sitting together. We were trying to share food with each other and passing across the walk way where the cart is pushed through to clear the table. Yes, a Friday can be busy, but SERIOUSLY, don’t give away the table after one minute. And then blame us for being behind a group of elderly couples. SUPERUNPROFESSIONAL. Next time, we’ll do take out rather than be blamed for being late. But even then, they might give our food away if we’re parking and late by a minute.

Bi Bim Bop was really yummy a pan of rice with a bunch of fixings and egg. I thought I was ordering the one with noodles, now I know that one is Bi Bim Kook Soo.

If you can overlook the sloppy presentation, the food is tasty, though a little greasy. The side dishes are good, except for the mac salad. Order the small dinner of kalbi, as the large portion is ridiculously priced, The bean sprouts might be the best side dish!!!

This place was good. Sort of cheap ambiance, service was on the slow side, not overly friendly but not rude. But the food was good. I had a grilled chicken dish and my step dad had the thinly sliced steak, breaded and fried. I tried it and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and tender, really good. Both came with rice. I would eat here a lot if I lived here.

I knew there was a Kimchee I Restaurant. I knew there was a Kimchee II Restaurant. I knew there was a Kimchee III Restaurant. Then I came here to Kimchee 9 Restaurant in Kauai at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center… And I thought… what the hell? There are 8 other Kimchee Restaurants somewhere? I’ve actually never been to any other Kimchee Restaurant, so I was hoping this would be good since they have so many of them. My fellow Kauai friends had told me that this was a pretty good place, and that they had pretty good Korean food. I decided to try their meat jun plate, since meat jun is probably my favorite plate to have at any simple Korean restaurant. When I received the food, I thought it was average. The texture was average and the flavor was rather just average. The meat wasn’t super tender and the egg batter was on the dry-er side. I think if I hadn’t been so spoiled because of the awesome meat jun they serve at certain restaurants on Oahu, I would actually kinda really enjoy the meat jun here. The service was decent, and the only thing I thought was a bit weird was that the people working here… aren’t Korean! I always thought that Kimchee Restaurant(s) were family-owned restaurants, so… it was a bit shocking that the servers and cashier weren’t Korean. Maybe all the chefs are, though! The food here is decently priced for the amount you get, however, the people on Kauai may be missing out on bomb Korean food. Perhaps a Kyung’s Seafood II or Million Restaurant II needs to be built there?

I love their Kalbi, it is expensive, so I treat myself every so often and savor every bite. The other favorite is the cold tofu, love the sauce and the added veggies on top of the tofu. It’s light and tasty.

Chicken Katsu, Kalbi ribs(so yummy), BBQ chicken, cold tofu, meat jun, & butter fish. All yummy. Owners are not customer service oriented. Bad service, but the food is really good.

Id give this place a zero star if Unilocal allows it. Don’t go here, if you had a choice– please go elsewhere! We saw this place when we were shopping at the mall & since it was our first day on Kauai, My Hubby loves the Kim Chee restaurant chain on Oahu. So for dinner, as it was our first night, I let him choose & since he chose this place, he said he will take care of the bill.(I was so glad he did as I will not be happy if Id pay for food that taste like crap!) The only person that enjoyed the food was my hubby! mayb the kids? I guess they were hungry! My dad who is a vegetarian, couldn’t eat anything! I ordered the tofu veggie stir fry– he only ate a bite of it & he could not eat the rice as he said it was too watery! The hubby ended up with the leftovers– he ate it the nexts day at the hotel. Food taste nothing like the Kim Chee here on Oahu. I don’t really know if there are any relations. Service was sooo bad! The owner wasn’t friendly! She only cared about collecting money! Small portions, prices are very high for this type of food! 4 plates ran us over 65.00! I don’t mind the hubby paying for this, if it was for good food! Sorry for the bad reviews but this is my true feeling for this place! Nexts time I vacation on Kauai, I will skip the Korean part til I get home.

I’ve only eaten here twice since I moved to kauai, & so far I haven’t had a bad experience eating here. Last time I had the Chicken Kim Chee fried rice b/c I was really craving for some. Luckily they have it here.

Salty Soup! Ordeedr Mandoo Soup, which was tasty enough if you like the savory flavor of msg. But I was only able to eat the mandoo because the soup was heavily salted. My husband ordered the Beef and Tofu soup, which was also tasty. But again, only the beef and tofu was eaten. Very salty. Ask them to hold the salt! If needed, you can shake some in on your own at the table. After about 10mins after the meal, I totally passed out… classic msg-coma. Had the most intense 20min nap in the car while my husband struggled to drive. It was a great nap tho…

While visiting Kauai we were craving some local barbecue style plate lunches, so after doing a quick search on Unilocal,we decided to head back to the Kukui Grove Shopping Center centrally located in Lihue for some Korean food at Kimchee. We had previously dined at other branches of the restaurant on Oahu, which were pretty good, so we figured it would be a decent option for lunch. My husband ordered the Chef’s special consisting of Kalbi and Meat Jun, I ordered the Kimchee fried rice for myself and the cold tofu appetizer for my daughter. We were also served bowls of seaweed soup and some kimchee while we waited for our food. As you can see from my pictures, we were given pretty generous portions of food. The cold tofu appetizer was delicious adorned with some vegetables and topped in a tasty sweet sauce. My fried rice was a little disappointing, but I think I was expecting the fried rice to be a little more local-style like the dish from Big City Diner or the fried rice from Side Street Inn(Both on Oahu.) with some char siu, Portuguese sausage, and scrambled egg, topped off with a sunny-side up egg Our family left the restaurant pretty stuffed, but sadly we were unable to take any of our leftovers with us since there were no microwaves available at our hotel. Overall the food was decent and came out pretty quick, so we will probably be back the next time we’re visiting Kauai.

We were walking around Kukui Grove mall looking for a bite to eat, when we came across Kimchee No. 9. After looking at the menu we figured what the heck. The inside of this restaurant is dated. You can tell the booths have been here forever, the tables have built in grills for yakiniku style cooking but they do not offer this. The Kimchee they brought us was pretty good, but there was no other banchan which is something we have grown to know and love. That was a –1 star right there. I ordered the meat jun and my wife ordered the regular kalbi. The portions were decent for the price. The one and only person who was working disappeared for like 15mins when it was time for us to pay our bill, maybe it was break time? I’m going to have to look for other Korean food options in Kauai if there are any.
