Awesome find! We rented cheap, quality snorkel gear to use on all the beaches. Chris gave us some useful tips for the best spots. He throws in helpful extras like a fish guide, defogging drops, and he even gave us 2 beach mats to use for free. He also helped steer us to some tasty local cheap eats. A+. Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and skip the hotels and large operations that will try to gouge you. We rented scuba gear, body boards, and beach chairs, and were so happy we took our business here. Chris knows his stuff, is a great source of local info and recommendations, and is a very nice guy to boot. The prices are as affordable as you’ll find in Kauai. Would give six stars if I could.

My husband and I rented snorkel gear for the week while kauai. The owner was the nicest man we met during our entire trip. He took the time to tell us all about the island and the best places to snorkel and to visit. He was extremely helpful! The gear was also top notch. I highly recommend Kauai Bound. My wife and I are from Washington State and somehow I had neglected to pack a battery charger for my water proof Olympus snorkel camera. Chris came to the rescue by providing a special price rental for just the charger portion of his underwater cameras. If you are going snorkeling in Hawaii, I highly recommend renting a camera from Kauai Bound. Not only does Chris have great prices, he will show you how to get the best underwater photos and videos to show your family/​friends.

Chris is knowledgable, helpful, and an all-​around good guy. We came in to buy snorkel gear and chose this spot based on location and Unilocal reviews. He took the time to describe his available kits, pros and cons of each, then fit my husband and I to the right sets.

This is how a small business should be run and this is why we need to support guys like Chris. We were going to use BossFrog, which we usually do when going to Hawaii. We stumbled across Kauai Bound by chance and I’d recommend them to anyone, hands down. This is why:
–Prices are the best bang for the buck on Kauai. He uses only really good dry snorkels. Once you use one you won’t go back to regular ones
–He doesn’t try to up-​sell you on unnecessary things, like BossFrog does.
–He has honest prices. We lost a dry snorkel to the ocean and he charged us only $ 35 for the replacement (the same cost as buying one in his store). That’s really refreshing and honest.

We just returned from Kauai and rented snorkel equipment from Kauai Bound (KB). My boyfriend has poor vision and wears glasses so we were worried he might not be able to enjoy it… boy were we wrong. KB had prescription snorkel glasses to rent as part of their gear at the same prices as the other kits. All the equipment was top notch and made our time in the water fantastic. He also made recommendations on beaches to go to and sandwich shops for lunch. Listen to his suggestions… they were all great! I will always rent there moving forward.

A great selection of rental gear or gear to purchase. There is a bit of everything you would need to get out and play! Golf clubs, underwater cameras, I even saw Bocce balls and lawn chairs for rent!

I would recommend anyone going to stay on kauai to check this store out. I noticed that it is also very near the cruise ship port (a short, safe and easy walk). If you are arriving by ship, this is the place to grab your gear and hit the water.

Rented snorkel gear and a underwater camera during our stay on Kauai. Best rental gear and good quality mask. The camera made for a fun time for my 13 year old particularly on the Napali tour and pics of the turtles we saw came out really clear. Chris was super helpful and genuinely excited about sharing his knowledge of the island. Would highly recommend.

We went to Kauai a couple of months ago and had a fantastic time snorkeling, thanks to Kauai Bound. I considered some of the more established shops for our rentals but Kauai Bound was so convenient and I’m glad we ended up getting our gear there.
The shop is fairly new so all of the gear is in great condition. Chris, the owner, is helpful, upbeat, and just so nice. He gave us great tips on where to go and we saw giant sea turtles exactly where he had suggested. I’m not a strong swimmer but the floatation belt he provided made me feel safe and allowed me to have a ton of fun. I never thought I’d be able to see the beautiful sea life I experienced. Kauai Bound is a small business worth supporting!

Chris is the man. We found his unassuming, tucked away store soon after landing in Kauai (after trying Poke — must do upon your arrival!).
Chris clearly enjoys people, sharing his experiences with local snorkel spots, and good beaches to visit as you traipse around the island. After sizing ourselves for fins and masks, he started to show us what I assumed were «upsells» of fish cards and snorkel de-​fogger. Wrong! He was giving us these to insure we’d have the best experience possible.
Long story short: 2 sets of snorkel gear, 2 boogie boards for the week — much cheaper than any of the official snorkel shops, and the same quality (I assume — I mean, how much more water-​tight can masks be?).
Anyway, worth the effort — you’ll have gear all week which means more impromptu snorkeling, boarding and golf (should that be on the radar).

So glad we found this place. Only being in Kauai for a short time we knew we wanted gear for the entire time. Chris gave us a great deal and showed us a map of several good places for snorkeling and boogie boarding. Gear is awesome and much better than the cheap snorkeling gear they give you for excursions. We’ve had a great time and would definitely come back if we’re in Kauai again!

My wife and I just got back from Kauai and I can’t say enough great things about Kauai Bound. We rented snorkel gear for the week. The gear was in great shape and worked well. Better than the gear, the owner was really helpful in pointing us to great spots to check out around the island, he gave us ideas for other things to do and wasn’t making a commission off the tour companies like so many others. He just gave us his honest opinion of different boat companies with no selling involved. His location is PERFECT if you are staying at the Marriott, but really, if you land at the airport you might as well stop and grab some snorkel gear for the week before you head to any other part of the island. Definitely, the spot to get your snorkel gear in Kauai.

Kauai Bound should be the first place you stop when landing on Kaua’i. The store is centrally located at Kalapaki Bay just south of Lihu’e airport. Why spend the money traveling with golf or snorkel, or underwater camera equipment when you get it all on island, dirt cheap, and probably better your own. When I have family come to town its the where I send my mother to get clubs. The snorkel gear is high end and in great condition.
The owner is also a great photographer and features many of his above and underwater prints of Kaua’i in the store. He also shares solid information about the island without worry of being locked into a time share presentation. Many other snorkel gear companies only use bad gear to get you in the door of a timeshare. Overall Kauai Bound is great choice for the traveler to save money and use the gear locals do.

Open just 45 days so all equipment is new and in great shape. Chris is very helpful with sizing and suggestions for snorkeling beaches. He has much experience from previous shops.

His prices are amazing, 7.50 for snorkle gear! I couldn’t believe it. He made our trip to Poipu beach incredible. All of the gear is new and clean. Chris was such a nice guy and made the trip super easy. He even guided us to an alternate route to fish pond and had comfy beach chairs for rent st 5 bucks a day!
