There is not a lot better than sampling new brews, and on my recent trip to Kaua’i I was looking forward to trying the new Kauai Beer Company. Located in Lihu’e, it’s right in a central area no matter where you’re staying on the island. There is ample parking around, although this is not the nicest area. Beer: They have quite a few beers to try, some are good, others are not. My favorite is the Lihue Lager, which is crisp and complex, not a simple taste. The Bock, Armadillo and others are just okay, not very memorable and some not as drinkable. Food: My dining companions had food as I was just drinking. They stated, and I agreed, that the dishes lacked flavor, were too salty, or lacked salt. The waitstaff including bartenders were not friendly, seemed disinterested to talk about their beer, and in general were not welcoming. When I come into a place to try everything, I like to learn about the brews and business. This was a place I tried everything and left a bit disappointed. The restaurant itself is lovely. I enjoyed all the wood, ample tables, and warm feelings. There needs to be more restrooms than just singles for a place where people drink lots of alcohol. I look forward to coming back; I hope this place improves.

4.5 stars — Really cool idea by integrating food trucks into a sit down restaurant. Process was easy: order from the food truck, pay at the front of the restaurant, and then they bring you the food when the food truck has finished making it. My wife and I got food from both trucks. While the food was outstanding, we received one 2 minutes after ordering and the other 15 – 20 minutes after ordering. Finding a seat was a bit tough. To be fair, it’s a very popular spot(for good reason). Bottom line, if you want amazing food, go here!

Kauai Beer Company is da bomb! This is my go-to spot for dinner whenever I’m on Kauai(once a month) Whenever I have to wait for a late flight, I will usually stop by here for dinner and some«refreshments.» Their beers are always delicious. I have enjoyed all of them with the exception of their lager, but I’m just not a huge lager fan so not going to bash them for that. I recently tried their lilikoi beer and it was so refreshing. It not only had the aroma of lilikoi but you could definitely taste the lilikoi in the beer. Their barley wine is also very nice(but strong… good to have a DD if you plan on drinking that one!) They also sell their beer in growlers. I personally bring my 32 oz Hydro-flask that I designated as a growler. $ 9 – 10 gets me a growler of delicious beer I can share with my friends here on Oahu :) By the way, if you bring your own growler, they only do 32 and 64 ounce fills… no 40 ounce. I believe it is $ 9 – 10 for 32 and $ 17 for 64. Not a guarantee though! Just check with the bartenders… they are all super nice and chill! The food is delicious as well. I tend to always order their mac-n-cheese special which seems to change weekly? I can’t say I’ve ordered something that I didn’t enjoy. The servers are always checking in on you ensuring you have enough to drink and eat. Overall, a great place to grab a pint or two, chill and enjoy one of Hawaii’s breweries. By the way, they also have board games so you can enjoy that while drinking your beer :) #11 of 1002016

I’m rating this on the beer only. The restaurant and whole vibe is good, the beer is in a transitional phase and only ok. We had their maibock(Kauaibock) and their IPA(tropical oatmeal). Both were really subtle. We paired with the bangers and taro mash(yummy w/wasabi), and the pork. Looking forward to tasting here in 5 – 6 years when they experiment more and maybe even brew a coffee stout! The artwork in the breezeway seating area is amazing. Muralist sethcre8s did the wave imagery.

What a great little pub. This is a true micro brew pub. Mark at the bar was great and was vet knowledgeable about the beer that is Brewed here. The menu does a great job of parenting the beer with the food. There is a nice beer flight you can take advantage of so you can try many beers on tap. The IPA is truly outstanding. for lunch I had the pork sandwich and it was very good and remained tender and juicy.

Came here tonight on a whim, just looking for some good grinds and cold beverages – and we definitely found what we were looking for. The waitress was spot-on with her sake recommendation and ponzu pork sandwich suggestion. I looooved the specialty Mac & Cheese(it had carrots and I think goat cheese in it – delicious!). The Reuben was pretty good, a little dry but the cheese more than made up for it. Yummy stuff. The cheese beer fries were also delicious. Overall, the food and drinks were really good! We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Kaua’i.

Only came here once whilst visiting. But the beer and unique BLT sandy were straight fire. Fried green tomatoes and pork belly? Get in my belly

My husband, sister and I stopped in at Kauai Beer for a quick hang out before heading back to Kapa’a. I’m not a beer person, but if you were someone who was, this is definitely the place for you. In coming here at 4pm, we happened to be in while they were flipping the kitchen from lunch to dinner, so food wasn’t immediately available. My husband and sister went with a six flight beer tasting, and I waited(patiently) for the kitchen to re-open so I could order food. When the kitchen was available, we ordered the Bavarian pretzel, cheesy beer fries, and taro cakes to share. Just as a small side note, most of the people who helped our table were extremely friendly, except for the guy who was in charge of our area. He gave a lot of attitude when it came to ordering beer flights, took forever and a day to get to our table when the kitchen was open despite us asking if we could put orders in when it was available, and was generally mediocre on making sure we had what we needed while we were there. In any case, the fun environment, good beer tastings, decent food, and relative ease of finding a seat made up for it, but I could certainly do without the attitude next time.

My wife and I love checking out brew pubs and we’re happy to find this Gem! 1st trip we had beer and lunch, the blonde waitress was ok but rather«Blonde» as she completely forgot our pretzels«AWSOME!» So the blonde was a bit clueless but guess who came to the rescue, a sweet gal Sarah!. Sarah went so far as to comp not only the pretzels but the 3 beers we had and was happy to pay for! Soooooooo, yes we returned the next day and of course asked for Sarah, the food is extremely well though out and seasoned. We will continue to give these folks our business and we hope they recognize how important Sarah is to their success.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great beers. What more do you need? Plus– the staff has a great knowledge of how the food and beer are created. Very relaxing place with some of my favorite music playing(Bob Marley, Sublime, Rebelution). Just what I needed after a long day. Food was good too! All locally sourced goods! Will be going back to try the lunch menu soon.

Great place for delisious food and good beers. Big fan of the Lilikoi Wheat, Tropical Amadillo, El IPA, and Sleeping Giant(Barley wine). They have great lunch sandwiches… upgrade to the beer batter fries and bomb mac n cheese with bbq chicken. Their bread pudding is some of the best I’ve ever tasted.

Kauai Beer was awesome! So pumped we found it and made a stop there between our stays on the south and north shore. We each got a 6-beer flight(beware, each beer is 4oz which makes a full 24oz of beer each!) — but so worth trying what they have going on their because it is delicious. Favorites were the Black Limousine and the Tropical Armadillo… yummmmm. We also got the pretzel with hot mustard(*hot*) and the cheese sauce. We should have gotten two pretzels because they were awesome(and would have absorbed some of our huge beer flight). OH and bonus– we got sweet slap on koozies– throwback to the 80’s and now some sweet swag for our beers back home.

The food was very tasty with a lot of flavor. Their beer sampler was diverse and also very refreshing. Turns out every first Saturday of the month is trivia night which turned out to be enjoyable. The ambiance is hipster/urban. Would return in the future!

Found two breweries on Kauai and of course had to try them booth. Nice location very close to the airport. Good selection of beer and even better very friendly bartenders. Met a kid from the Phoenix area that commented in my a UofA hat so I knew I was in a good spot. We only had one beer each, IPA and the Porter and they were very good. Wish this place was closer to my hotel… oh well… ill be back here in the future.

A brewery in Lihue to hang out in while I wait for my plane ride back it Oahu? Hell yeah! Actually I don’t know if there are others breweries in Lihue but I don’t really care because this one is close to the airport and it’s quiet and peaceful and almost always a stop for me before I head back home. I just wish their food menu was better! They don’t have much and what they do have leaves a lot to be desired. In paper the menu items sound good but sometimes it’s a hit or miss with the quality. Last visit I had the tempura mushrooms and it pretty much tasted like I was biting down on oily fried tempura minus the mushrooms. I didn’t finish it. Had to order the beer battered fries to satisfy hunger. And they don’t even have burgers! Maybe they’re going for the more healthier alternatives or a more unique menu so don’t expect to have a nice greasy burger with your beer samplers. Btw get the samplers. You can try all of their beers in 4oz glasses to see which on you like best. Best part of this place. There’s not much parking in front of the place so you’ll have to search for it. If you’re lucky you can get a spot right out in front from 5pm on. Otherwise just park across the street in the parking lot behind the Chinese restaurant. So yeah two stars docked for the parking situation and their menu. Not necessarily bad but it could be so much better with the right menu. All my personal opinion of course.

Really great menu, delicious sandwiches and oxtail stew. We stopped here right after we got off the plane– it was just what we needed! Beers are good, but they were out of some brews so our options were limited. The lager is decent; their red was really tasty and refreshing. I love that they use locally grown produce and ingredients for their dishes.

I wish this place was open all week! We came here on out last day for lunch and to try the different beers. It took awhile to get our food, but it was work the wait. I ordered the jalapeño turkey sandwich and my fiancé ordered the spam sandwich. We also got the taro fries. My favorite Beer was the nitro beer! yum! Check this place out if you have a chance

Went here with a group of friends for some beers and pupus. We had a party of 4 and we all decided to sample the flights. We unanimously agreed that the ELIPA was the best of the bunch. Service was friendly and prompt. Poutine fries were a bit of a disappointment. Gravy tasted exactly like beef gravy out of a can. The beer cheddar fries and bangers and mash were delicious. Overall a great experience and will definitely revisit.

I’d like to give it a 4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up because, darn it, it’s in Hawaii and who am I to round down on vacation? Very tasty microbrews run the gamut from very fresh lagers to dark, motor-oil black beers that are bordering on hard liquor they’re so heavy on the EtOH. Good food, if a little on the funky side in terms of selection. I hate the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich. I’ve already forgotten what my wife got. Something with lactose, so that aced me out. They even had a sorbet to cleanse the palate, helping me out with the dairy thing, again. Tasty brews, and like walking into Portland, Oregon in the middle of Lihue. I would definitely return.

Amazing pub grub that serves great quality beers! Traditional brewery focusing on a vast selection of craft beers that associates itself with exceptional food trucks parked in front. Walking in you feel a sense of relaxation and ceremonious to get that first pint in you. Ordered the blonde that was refreshing and thirst quenching. Food was delivered prompt to our table and the scent of freshly prepared fish tacos made me hungry that I couldn’t help but devour it. Prices are moderate, vibe is laid back, background music and staff was friendly and courteous.
