Ganello’s Pizza Company

Wife and I were visiting from Seattle and wanted some Chicago Style pizza, actually she wanted it and I went along. I searched for something relatively close (8 miles from where we stayed) and the pizza did not disappoint. WARNING: CALL AHEAD!!! The reason I say this, is they use fresh ingredients and putting together the deliciousness we experienced takes time. We strolled around the complex for a few minutes then sat patiently for our food. The staff was friendly but not overbearing and the food was exceptional. One of the owners came to the counter and asked if we were enjoying our food, we engaged him in conversation so he came to our table. Bill was genuine and friendly, offered some area advice and quitely left the table when we were done to help his team.
Overall we highly recommend. We even brought 15 or so take out menu’s back to our hotel and put them on the ‘local flavor’ information rack.

Tonight was our first visit here. I had the grilled chicken wrap, and my wife had the spaghetti. The wrap was very good, filled with fresh ingredients and came with a side of homemade Italian dressing. At first I wasn’t going to use the dressing, but once I tried it I was hooked. My wife and son really enjoyed the spaghetti, and it came with plenty of flavorful sauce. My wife also mentioned how good the bread was.
Bill, who is one of the owners, took the time to stop and make sure we were enjoying our meal.
So glad we found this place, and we look forward to trying their pizza next time. We will definitely be back soon.

We strayed from our usual pizza places to try Ganello’s based on previous reviews (thank you Unilocalers)! We were not disappointed. This pizza is truly amazing!!! You can tell from the first bite to the last that the ingredients are nothing but fresh. This is truly authentic Chicago pizza. As an extra positive, one of the owners was there when we picked up our pizzas — what a refreshing encounter! Bill is so passionate and engaged in his business. This is my new go-​to pizza place on the North Shore, hands down.

Great local pizza joint. Lunch special is awesome! Great pan pizza. Crust is flavorful, cooked perfect and the sauce is semisweet. You can tell yhey use good quality ingredients. Get away from the chains and support this local pizza shop!

My first encounter with Ganello’s was at the Lake County Fair. I thought I would give the actual restaurant a try too. I did and now I keep going back. There are five pizza places within walking distance of my house, and yet I make the 15 minute drive to go to Ganello’s. We have tried several of their pizzas and have never had a bad experience.

I work by Ganello’s Restaurant and my coworkers and I order from them often. Every time we order for delivery they always prolong their delivery time. Just the other day we called at 11:00 am and they were not able to deliver until 12:30pm. An hour and a half waiting for your food to be delivered is ABSURD. The food is not that great to be worth the wait! My coworkers and I would not order from them again.

We are from Arizona and wanted to have Chicago deep dish. we found Ganello ’ s in Unilocal and it was fantastic. Great service and food.

My family and I LOVE Gannello’s! Since discovering this amazing restaurant after moving to this area a few months ago we eat here at least once a week and each meal is delicious! I am a huge foodie but I place as much importance on customer service as I do the food. The food and service is top tier and I cannot recommend Ganello’s enough. If you want to experience food and service that really is outstanding and outstanding every single time, please take my personal recommendation and try Ganello’s!

The ratings of this place is spot on. I was in town with family. We are from Seattle. We were attending my sons Navy graduation at Great Lakes Naval Academy. My boy wanted to try some of the famous Chicago style pizza. So, i Unilocaled and noticed Ganellos pizza at 4.5 stars. We were welcomed as soon as we entered which was a great plus. We explained our situation to the hosts and asked them whats the most famous pizza? They recommended the deep dish pizzas. We ordered two (forgot the names) and we were not disappointed! Wow Seattle pizza sucks! I am in love with Chicago pizza!!! Next time I’m in the Chicago area this is my pizza joint. My whole family was in awe. The staff was great! I loved how they congratulated my son and thanked him for his service. To top it off at the end when i pulled out my cash and offered 20 bucks as a tip. The staff declined it and said it was our honor to have your son here. OMG the best service i have ever received. Thank you for a great Chicago pizza and customer service experience Ganellos! 5 star’s!!!

THIN CRUST PEPPERONI was excellent! No on the BUFFALO WINGS. Good for take out or delivery. Fast casual pizza place… a little extra casual
The THIN CRUST PEPPERONI was spot on. The sauce had the right mix of tomato tangy sweet flavor and not too wet or dry. The crust was just crispy enough to cut with enough chew to compliment the mixture of toppings. Cheese and pepperoni were good as expected but not evenly distributed on the pizza. I’ll treat that as a isolated incident.
I asked how are the BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS and the owner apologetically stated they’re good but not crispy like fried wings found elsewhere since they are baked. The wings were ok… not a lot of sauce so a weak Buffalo wing flavor… and that soft baked texture of mom’s home cooked chicken. I should have taken a pass but in the kind and honest owner’s defense, he warned me.
DINING EXPERIENCE: I’m a bit conflicted on this place. I loved the pizza and that was the point. It’s fast casual so order at the counter and they bring it to you. The owner is super nice, sincere, and cares about the customers. The bright, modern, tight, and very clean 30 seat dining area is enough to sit and enjoy some food with a large flat screen TV blaring the Cubs game. It’s better than the typical grab and go standing room only pizza take out joint or the dingy dimly lit throwback seedy pizza place…
FOOD PRESENTATION: I’m torn because you get this wonderful pizza brought to your table with a stack of Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. The salads are pre-​made and served in clear plastic containers. The wings came wrapped in aluminum foil. The presentation took away from the overall experience and value.
VALUE: If you are going for the pizza, you are in the right place and the pizza is competitively priced but a smidge on the high side.
Pass on this if you want a nice sit down experience with full service, ceramic plates, rolled cloth napkins, and metal utensils.

I’ve never actually had Chicago-​style pizza before, so we thought it’d be awesome to find a local Chicago-​style pizza place before we left the area. This was nearby and had decent reviews and good prices, so we thought we’d stop by.
First off, their establishment is pretty quaint. All of the prices are up on the board near the counter, and you order at the counter then seat yourself. The lunch special is two slices of Chicago-​style pizza and a soda for $ 6.75. This should be decently filling for someone. One of us couldn’t even finish two slices. Filling stuff! (As a note, we were told ordering slices would take 5 minutes to prepare while a full pie takes about a half hour. Something to consider)
Once you’ve ordered, you sit and wait with your table number for them to deliver your food. They have quite a few two-​person tables as well as some four-​person tables. The news was on the single TV when we came in. They have a bit of bar-​like seating near one of the walls. Napkins are available via dispensers at every table — which you’ll probably need when you enjoy your pizza.
The pizza itself was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect mixture between delicious and oily. There wasn’t any «oil» dripping down or way too much grease. Instead, it was easy to chew, and while pretty deep and filling, the crust tasted nice and light without being too crunchy. My only complaint with this is that they provide plastic silverware and cutting the crust with a plastic fork can be really challenging at times.
While it doesn’t change their service at all, I was disappointed to find that they served their pizza on styrofoam plates with that disposable silverware and drinks were served in styrofoam cups. While I definitely want them to do what they need to do to survive as a business, I hate the idea of so much waste being produced here.
Either way, I’d definitely return! This is a great place to get pizza.

So ordered a Margherita pizza small thin crust 18.67 seems kind of high. Menu was a bit confusing with the prices i ordered a small pizza which said !!.00 dollars but was told the pizza I ordered was a specialty. However the pizza was excellent Thinly slices of tomato with mozzarella and basil. the crust was excellent golden with chewy yet crisp dough just the right amount of salt and a nice proportion of ingredients .
I would recommend this pizza place and will come back and try other things. the salads looked great and they have a pretty extensive variety.
It’s clean, good service and tasty food.

Stopped in this weekend while in town for a friends wedding. Rodney was awesome and had a table and plates ready for us when we arrived. We had ordered our pizza in advance and mistakenly ordered the wrong type. Rodney made us up another one and made sure it was to our liking. Not too many places around where you get such outstanding service to go with quality food. Keep up the good work!

A group of us had come into town for a wedding and wanted some Chicago style deep dish pizza. We ordered ahead and came in to the shop to sit down and eat it. When the pizza came out we realized there had been a miscommunication and it was thin crust. Rodney the owner apologized and quickly put in a deep dish on the house. What a nice guy and exceptional service. The thin crust was great and when the deep dish came out it was amazing. For me, an experience is partially rated by how the food tastes but in some ways more so by how you are treated. This place has great pizza and it is elevated to an ever higher level with the above and beyond service you receive. Thanks for the good experience and showing a kindness that isn’t seen that often anymore. Keep it up!

Work travel occasionally brings me to this part of IL. I stumbled upon this place 2 months ago. This is my second time here and both times I’ve had the same great experience with the food and staff. As others have mentioned the customer service here is top notch. They are very friendly and welcoming.
First time today eating the Italian beef covered in peppers and cheese. Awesome. Good portion of juicy meat and the cheese was melted exactly how I like it. I’m a sandwich guy and this one ranks high on my all time favorites. Def get the hot peppers if you can handle the heat.
I also had a small Chicago classic hand tossed pizza. It was just as good as the first time I ate here. Their sauce is tasty and I like the way the crust is done. Getting pizza in Chicago is tops on my list when I pass through town and this place does it right.
I’ll be back in a few months and can’t wait to eat here again. The pics make my mouth water. Ha.

How could anyone compare this to Vicinno’s. This place was lacklustre ar best. Do they even use yeast? Crust was nice and thin but had no flavor. Sauce was odd and flavorless. The sauce was like the tomatoes from bruschetta. The side focaccia was flavorless.
Great place to take picky kids. Won’t return, it was a real disappointment after reading all the reviews.

A yeast flavored dough
Cheese that tastes like cheese
Croutons –they’re simple to make (will improve your salad)
Service was outstanding! Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to par.

On July 9^th we decided to stray from our favorite pizza joint and try this new local place. The food was fantastic. Pizza was served piping hot and had just the right amount of sauce. The crust was perfect and airy so the pie wasn’t too heavy. The highlight of the night was when the mom carrying an infant in a carrier came for her pickup. They carried the pizza too her car so as not to inconvenience her. Amazing customer service. Will frequent this place. I stopped back this past weekend and tried some sandwiches for lunch. The Meatball Sandwich was amazing. The food is delivered to your table piping hot. This is a hit.

Excellent thin crust pizza! Awesome service! They aim to please here! My wife loved the Eggplant Parmesan! I loved the pizza!

Very good! Love there pizza the sandwiches on the focaccia perfectly warmed up! There salads are fresh and yummy. Both the salads and sandwiches come with homemade italian dressing (also good to dip there pizza in it!). I love around 45 and 120 and they deliver all the way to me which is perfect! Owner is very nice also.

I was in the shopping center and noticed this place. I hadn’t seen it before so thought I’d give it a try. I was absolutely bowled over by the food. The pizza that I had, a slice of thin, and a slice of deep dish, was the most nuanced, flavorful, and honestly delicious pizza I’ve ever eaten. I’m not sure exactly what they do to make their food so memorable, but they must be using fresh ingredients. I’m certain I tasted fresh garlic in the fabulous sauce, and the cheese they use is to die for. I wish I’d had the time to talk to the people that own the place, but they have me hooked, and I’ll be back whenever I get even near Libertyville! I took a photo of the restaurant as I was leaving so I wouldn’t forget, but the wonderful flavors are burned into my memory.
