I like the plain grilled cheese and tomato soup. It’s simple and tasty. There are several different options to try and I’ve never seen this location have more than a few diners at a time. Ordering is quick and easy from the counter and they bring your food to you. A good option for lunch any day!

I’ve been here 3 times and always get the Armagoetta sandwich. It is so good. I didn’t care for the blue cheese chili though. To each his own. But I did have a grilled donut and cheese sandwich for desert though that was good! I’ll be back I’m sure. Lots of options to choose from here too.

Definitely a big improvement from a year ago, the last time I was here. Tables were clean and everything is much more organized. I hate blue cheese but I was offered a sample of the blue cheese chili and it was fabulous. Hope they keep up what they are doing, huge improvement.

I wanted to really like Tom & Chee after seeing them on Shark Tank(ABC). They menu is expansive so finding something eat is not difficult. I opted for the Mac & Cheese grilled cheese and a bowl of Smooth Tomato Basil Soup. The soup was excellent, and to be honest, I could have made a full meal off of that alone. The Mac & Cheese was just ok. I think it could have used some more seasoning on it since it was so bland. We went around 1:15pm, so the lunch rush was over, but every table was dirty and I had to clean my own. All this being said, I’ll probably give Tom & Chee one more chance to fix these issues!

First visit to this restaurant today. We had turkey-pesto grilled cheese, tomato & ham grilled cheese, and Mac & cheese grilled cheese, plus creamy tomato basil soup. All was very good. Lots of choices and ways to customize and best grilled cheese I’ve had anywhere!

I didn’t like my soup that much but the grilled cheese was pretty good. Service was good. To me if I’m eating something I can easily do myself i.e. grilled cheese, pasta. I need it to be really good and this place is just okay.

Always delicious! They have great combinations of grilled cheeses and you can also creat your own. I ordered the Hippe Chee and added potato chips in with creamy tomato basil soup. The soup is the perfect size and the sandwich was delicious with a decent price. The food is made fresh and brought to your table which doesn’t take too long.

The soup was sub par and the sandwiches were huge and greasy. I won’t be coming back.

Took 15 minutes to get my soup. Was way too salty for my liking and the bread had so much butter on it I couldn’t eat it. Over all not too impressed, all of their«grilled cheeses» are overloaded and hard to comprehend with the insane amount of ingredients for each one.

I had a build your own. It was smoked Gouda with grilled onion, gr mushrooms, bacon bits on Pumpernickel rye. I’d suggest skipping bacon. I was not impressed with the taste. But the Creamy tomato Soup was to die for! All tables needed a wipe down. And it’s not real fast but that not a bad thing. I’ll be back to try the famous grill cheese doughnuts after a hearty work out.

I ordered the Tom-Chee figuring you can’t go wrong there. I also ordered 1 of the 2 soups of the day Buffalo Chicken. My 9 year old had a plain grilled cheese. The soup was good & spicy. However, my son said it best when he said, «If you want a good grilled cheese go to Cracker Barrel.» I am giving a generous 2-stars because at least the soup was good.

Nothing fancy on the inside, reminds one of a Chipotle. Kind of a cool place for lunch as an option for burgers, etc. My wife had the tom & chef sandwich, which she liked a lot. I went for the Mac & cheese sandwich(yes, Mac & cheese) which was very good. I also tried the bleu cheese chili, which was okay. I would definitely go back for the change of pace.

Stopped here on the way back from a road trip. The place seemed pretty empty. They have a very large variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads to choose from. I had the pesto turkey sandwich as well as chili with bleu cheese. The food was pretty good, and the prices were great for the amount of food and the quality. I wouldn’t say it’s the best food I ever had, and I don’t know that I would go out of my way to go here to eat, but I wouldn’t turn it down either. Worth a try, for sure.

If you think that the only things that you’ll find here are grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, think again. They have a wide variety of grilled sandwiches. I like to try the sandwich of the day, that usually changes daily. One time, they were featuring«The Texas Rancher» which was a ham sandwich with American cheese, BBQ chips and a perfect dollop of ranch. It was huge and filling. On Mondays, they have the buy one get one half off special and on Wednesdays, they sell the grilled cheese donuts half off. You can create or request any sandwich of your choice and add chips to it for an extra fifty cents. Chips on a sandwich?! I thought that I was the only weirdo who liked that… genius. Did I mention the grilled cheese donuts?! I hope that they got a patent on these things because they’re the bomb. My favorite of the two that I’ve tried is the strawberry lemonade one. You wouldn’t think that gooey cheese between a glazed donut would be good, but you can’t knock it until you try it. You’ll thank me later. I’ve never watched Shark Tank, but I heard that is where this Cincinnati based franchise got their start. They hosted a Unilocal event at Tom + Chee and Lydia, the manager was our host. She was awesome! I’ve stopped by a few times since then to thank her for the awesome job, but I’ve not been able to catch her yet. One time, I was in the area and before stopping in, I called to see if Lydia was there and the lady who answered the phone immediately put me on hold, which lasted several minutes. I finally arrived to the store(while still on hold) and discovered the cashier not waiting on anyone… I assume that she forgot that I was on hold. Oh well, not a huge deal and not the reason that I’m not rating it a five… just an odd observation and example of the service that I’ve experienced there.

What goes better with a grill cheese sandwich than tomato soup? This place has many different cheese and bread options to choose from. I went with the BLT and Cheese with the soup of the day – beer cheese soup. The soup was tasty and the sandwich was fine but what always gets me is the price of these items. It was over $ 10 for just a cup of soup and a sandwich – not including a drink. My friend had the chili and he equated it to the type of chili you would put on hot dogs only with less flavor. Personally, I find it to be an adequate lunch, just kind of pricey.

Tom + Chee did not meet my expectations. It was a disappointment. We came here yesterday afternoon looking forward to trying some amazing grilled cheese sandwiches and checking one more place off my ‘to-try’ list. My husband had a roast beef with mozzarella cheese and I had a sandwich with vegan cheese and a variety of veggies. Both sandwiches were good enough to eat, but we weren’t impressed at all. They were just… OK. Fine. Nothing special. I also sampled my husband’s creamy tomato basil soup and didn’t want any more of it. I’m afraid that our experience with a phenomenal grilled cheese food truck back in Chicagoland may have raised our expectations prior to Tom + Chee. Perhaps we were expecting the food here to be similar?(It definitely wasn’t.) Either way, just not impressed. Total bill for two make-your-own sandwiches(one with meat), a cup of soup, a bag of chips, and one drink? $ 19. Ouch. Wasn’t expecting that. Everything added up too quickly. If the food was fantastic, then the price wouldn’t have hurt too much. But $ 19 for a sub-par meal when you’re kind of broke? Not cool. I AM curious about the donut grilled cheese, so I may venture back in the future to check that out. Otherwise, I’m not keeping this place in mind. Bummer. [Wish I could give this place 2.5 stars.]

Simple pleasure of grilled cheese and tomato soup takes many people to their childhood. For me, I need a bit more than a simple grilled cheese and this is why I can enjoy this place, because in addition to their classic combo that everyone craves, they also have«upgraded» grilled cheese sandwiches for people like me. Flying pig and the crunchy garlic chicken are the two I have tried and loved. Their creamy tomato basil soup is tasty and the blue cheese chilli is intriguing. The first time I had the blue cheese chilli, it needed more blue cheese but when I tried it again at the Crave, it was perfect!!! Crunchy garlic chicken has potato chips in it and reminds me lunch break in high school when I used to buy a sandwich and a bag of chips and put the chips in my sandwich for an added texture. So yes, we can say that the crunchy chicken is a trip down the memory lane for me!!! Only recently I realized that they actually have gluten free(GF) bread and vegan cheese as options for their grilled cheese sandwiches. To a cheese-lover like myself, vegan cheese is not the first option but for vegans, it is the main option for getting that signature creamy texture that makes grilled cheese the ultimate comfort food. And, if you are GF for any reason, this place allows you to add grilled cheese sandwich back to your dining experience. I have a few friends with Celiac’s disease and they had mentioned that they enjoyed this place and staff was very knowledgeable about GF options. It’s especially a big deal for me because a close friend of mine has strong reactions to even the smallest amounts of gluten and for that reason, our dining options have been a bit more limited. We just agreed that this will be our next location for dinner and a bit of catching up! Probably the only thing that doesn’t make Tom+Chee a 5-star comfort food experience is the layout of the place and lack of clean tables to find at times. I really hope that they can bring a cleaner face to this restaurant! Can’t wait to be back to try more of their menu!

I built my own grilled cheese: sourdough bread with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. Then, I added a bowl of classic tomato soup and a small drink. Joe ordered The Tom + Chee sandwich(which was like mine, plus tomatoes and garlic). He added a cup of classic tomato soup and a small drink. The sandwiches were perfectly grilled, and the tomato soup was fresh and had a great flavor to it. The staff was friendly, offered suggestions, and brought the food to our table once it was made. I’ll definitely try it again sometime. I’m curious about the glazed donut experience. Definitely give this place a try sometime.

3.5 star review. For those who may not be familiar, Tom + Chee is a tomato soup and grilled cheese joint, although they do offer a few salads and usually have a soup of the day offering that is not tomato soup. As for the tomato soup, the chunky tomato basil is my favorite and contains big pieces of tomato. They also have creamy tomato soup and classic tomato soup. The grilled cheese sandwich options are pretty much limitless, especially if you create your own. I keep meaning to get a grilled cheese donut for dessert but am always too full. I will get one eventually. Service has left a little to be desired during my multiple visits there, but it has not been anything terrible either. As many other reviewers have noted, the flow of the place is seriously jacked up. I usually go at off-peak times so I have not had a problem finding a table but I can imagine that it might be a problem during the lunch rush. As for a niche restaurant, I like Tom + Chee just fine and think it makes a nice addition to Lexington’s fast-casual dining scene.
