Amazing customer service, great results. You will not be disappointed. Philip Ciampa Salon is a bit on the pricey side, but you definitely are paying for quality and expertise. Sarah, one of the stylists, is a dream to work with! She has done my hair for events in the past, and will be doing it for my wedding as well! I have complete confidence in her. She takes her time and is knowledgeable of what products to use in my hair(I have very fine, straight hair with very little volume in it, so most products just make it look dirty or even wet.). She is efficient, pleasant to chat with, and delivers great results! The salon itself is bright, airy, and very clean. I would definitely recommend giving Philip Ciampa Salon a try!

Roger is gone, and so is Shea. :( I have kept coming here though, and have been seeing Tony. I am still totally happy here, and even without my original fav staff members, the salon has been consistently five star service and quality.

Started as a customer by following a stylist there from another salon. When he left they offered me a temporary discount to try another stylist, so I did. He did a great cut although I found it rude that he spent the entire time talking to a male visitor in second language, as though I wasn’t there. The next visit he spent the entire time watching the owner(his father). Everyone looked miserable, and so did my hair, which he cut so short(the week before the holidays) that a month later I still have a cowlick. I won’t be going back at any price.

After a regrettable 6-month hiatus and some detective work, I finally tracked down my über-stylist, Roger Spanos. When I walked into the salon, I was greeted by the receptionist and many others who happened to walk by. My hair coloring was done in a separate room from the cutting stations. The long single table encouraged conversations between clients and stylists alike. It appeared that every employee in the salon got along. There was no «salon drama.» As always happens with Roger, I was thrilled with my color and my cut. During my visit, I never had any lag time. The synchronization of my services was impeccable! Philip Ciampa also carries high-end hair and nail products which are sometimes difficult to find. It is very intimidating to change a salon after so many years, but Roger and the staff at Philip Ciampi made me feel at home as soon as I walked in the door!

I have been a customer off and on for several years. There is no doubt in my mind that every single time I walk out, my hair is going to look fantastic. The atmosphere is friendly and warm unlike a lot of other salons. True, you are going to pay top dollar, but the results, for me, are well worth it. I also appreciate that the sylists don’t constantly push the retail products that are on sale. Love it!

I followed Roger Plourde here — I have been a loyal client of his for 10+ years. Philip Ciampa, his new digs, is conveniently located with easy access to Route 2 or I-95 and has a dedicated parking lot. The interior is spacious and allows enough space between chairs and clients in various stages of styling. Front desk is courteous and efficient. And Roger continues to do high-quality work. I will be coming down to see him from NH while I am away at school!

I am happy to say that I have been a client of this salon for the past 3 years now. My mom has been going there for at least 10, and was the one who recommended me. My stylist is the always effervescent, hip, cool, beautiful, professional and accommodating Kimberly Fox. I was in the market for a new stylist a few years back, and was absolutely amazed by her coloring and cutting talents. She is honest and forthcoming about what will and will NOT look good with my hair. Kim is always on the money, and continually makes me feel beautiful. If I had a dollar for every time that I was out at the mall, to dinner, at the grocery store, etc. that some body stops me to ask about my hair, I would be rich enough to hire her on call… It has gotten to the point where people approach me sheepishly saying, «Excuse, me-I don’t mean to bother you, but…» and I readily hand them her business card. From the girls in reception down to all the stylists, the atmosphere is friendly, fun, professional and warm. I enjoy speaking to each and everyone that works there, and all of them make me feel special from the time I walk in to the point when I leave. Philip runs a great ship… Keep up the good work, Signore! Grazie!!!

I felt compelled to write a review b/c I’ve noticed a steady decline in the service over the past year, yet their prices are pretty significant! More on that later. I’ve been going to this salon for several years on the recommendation of a friend. The hairstylists I had were great. Sadly, two are gone and the other is ALWAYS booked and I cannot wait 10 – 12 weeks for a basic cut 9nothing fancy here). However, the colorist I finally landed with, Lisa, is great. Go to her; she knows her stuff AND she’s a hot ticket. PS… i was assigned several colorists before I lucked out with her; one left the other still there. Just after Jan 1st, went in for a hair cut/color; cut was okay and what I would expect… again just a trim, it was fine and a blow dry. Shame on me for not questioning before, but I was charged $ 30 for the blow dry. Really?! I questioned my previous bills and seems there was a price increase about a year ago and learned that the jr stylists have a significantly lower«cut and blow dry» rate. What?! I’m here about every 6 weeks, and on average for the year have paid north of $ 120/$ 140. I don’t consider myself that picky or a perfectionist, but I do expect a more for the prices they charge. I’m not alone on this; another friend who still gets her hair cut here feels the same. She’s looking too. Overall, these are mgmt issues; not issues with the stylists or colorists. There’s alot of potential for this salon, but they need guidance and consistency. Also, suggest they fine tune their front desk customer service skills. As a chain, they should strive for consistency and transparency in their services. Suggest mgmt make selective random calls for a month and see what they find or solicit a customer service survey to their clients. I have no problem paying for great service, but it’s a struggle here. I do hope they get it right, as I’d like to return. 2 stars for customer service. 2 for pricing/services 4 for LISA

I’m really sad to see less-than-stellar reviews of Philip Ciampa(from one-time Groupon users, no less), because I’ve been going there since I was 4 years old and have never once had a bad haircut. I no longer live in the area, but will often book a trip to Boston just so I can have Lori cut my hair. The salon’s ambiance has also gotten nicer over the years– it feels much more high-end now, but is still relatively affordable(I live in New York, though, so take that with a grain of salt). I can’t get used to them offering coffee and donuts, but it’s a nice touch. Haircut specifics– I have pretty curly hair, and I like to wear it both curly and straight. Some salons cut so you can only do one or the other, but Lori understands I’m pretty low-maintenance and has always given me cuts that grow out well and don’t take more than a scrunch with spray gel as I run out the door. Also, they participate in hair donation programs, so it’s a good place to go for that. And I’ve never gotten guilt for only getting my hair cut once a year(or less often)– she always remembers me, and is totally wonderful. Highly recommend.

I bought a Groupon for a Brazilian Blowout at Philip Ciampa and made an appointment to get my hair cut at the same time. In the past I got my hair cut by a family member and since then I have not gone to many salons and have not gone to the same one twice. I always get nervous when going to a new place and I was also nervous about the Brazilian Blowout. My stylist James was amazing and he put me at ease right away. On top of that I loved my haircut and received many compliments. They did ask if I wanted to buy the shampoo and conditioner but I bought them online beforehand and told them I didn’t need it. The salon itself was impressive to me and all of the other stylists seemed very personable as well. I received excellent customer service from everyone throughout the whole process. There was a mistake when I was charged that I didn’t realize until the next day. When I called it was corrected with nothing but apologies, the only thing is I had to go back to get the credit on my card. Overall it was a good experience and if it wasn’t more or less out of my way I would go back.

I stopped by this place randomly a few months ago for a blow-dry on my lunch hour. You know, just a one-time thing, a nice little luxury never to be repeated… and then the bitches got me hooked. Sarah gives the GREATEST blowout for my naturally(very) curly hair. And I am a pretty reliable source on this subject, due to lots of painstaking research. My curly mop has forced me to become an expert at doing it myself, and therefore the toughest critic of any professional — if I’m paying for it, you’d better outdo the job I could on my own. So since that fatal first time, I’ve been back quite a few more for this lunchtime luxury. Once I could not get in with Sarah, so booked an appointment with Allison. She was equally as great! I was pleasantly surprised. It’s always nice to find one pro who truly«gets» really curly hair at a salon, finding two is like winning the lottery! Both of these girls understand the essentials for a sleek, straight blowout on very curly hair: #1 Allow enough time. After my very first appointment, Sarah made a note in the computer that I took a little longer than the average client. I SO appreciated this. There is nothing worse than a stylist rushing their way through, bitchy comments that«you have SO much hair», etc. Can’t control my genes, people! #2 Don’t take too long. Okay, I know #1 and #2 are at odds, but there really is a perfect balance, and these ladies understand it! They are quick and efficient without being rushed. #3 Don’t put a bunch of product crap in my hair and then act surprised when you are unable to get it to dry completely. Both Sarah and Alison understand that less is more when it comes to product — in any situation, but especially mine. #4 Don’t overdo it with the flat iron. Unnecessary, if it’s a really great blow-out. And this qualifies — why kill off all that great salon volume and«flippiness» that I can’t do myself at home? #5 Don’t charge a million dollars. For such skilled stylists, this place is VERY reasonable compared to others I’ve tried in the area. #6 Be generally awesome. Sarah and Allison have this one down. I’m not usually a big talker at the salon, but I’ve genuinely enjoyed these ladies. What a breath of fresh air this place is — it’s obvious that the staff is professionally trained, and of course it’s in Lexington, but there is miraculously not a hint of snootiness to be found! … Which is why I’ll be back. And it’s definitely time to try some more services. Updates to follow!

I agree with Sara — the customer service is horrible. A while back I got my haircut here on a recommendation from a friend. I loved the stylist and the cuts/color work I received. A few months later, I found out that he no longer worked there(he opened his own salon in somerville, which I now go to). The woman was really rude on the phone, saying he no longer worked there, and when do I want to come in so I can have my haircut by someone else. I suggested the woman that sat next to him, since it was really the only other person I knew. Went to have my hair cut by her, and it was great as well. So a few months later I went to book another appointment and she no longer worked there! Again, I was told who do I want to see and when. So at this point, I am frustrated. Obviously if people that I liked, that had steady clientele no longer worked there, that is a sign. Not surprising to find out that they opened their own salons. At no point did anyone say«sorry.» Not like I needed a hug, but c’mon! The worst part was that I found out several patrons had received«discount coupons» to try different stylists within the salon. Not one phone call to tell me of either transition. Apparently spending less than a $ 100 per visit does not warrant good customer service. And because of this, it doesn’t deserve my business. As a side note, Stephanie has opened her own shop — the gal that cut my hair — and it’s in Lexington Center. I actually went in there to ask if she knew where my original stylist went. She was nice enough to get me his new number. I have been going to Carlo ever since.
